vengertime: If tinubu had reduced prices of fuel to N100, the amount he would have spent on subsidy would have eaten our budget, and all the loans we took for the year. Am sure you like GEJ. The reason why GEJ increased prices from N65 to 140 then cut to N97, was because quite simply, subsidy costs in 2011 were three times that in 2010. In other words the cost of subsidy had gone up to keep fuel at N65. Had he continued to keep fuel at N65, by 2014, the budget would have been eaten up by the subsidy as it was. Make be blast tinubu for curruption, no industrialization policy, no diversifcation policy, no cost cutting.....but I don't expect a president who on May 29 met an economy where 90% of government revenue was going for debt servicing to keep on paying for subsidy, even with the partial one he is still doing right now self...because fuel should be above N1200 per liter. Infact if TInubu had kept petrol at N195....by now, there would have been no money for salaries, for example. Even GEJ keeping fuel at N87 cost our economy dearly. Buhari too keeping fuel low messed us up. At some point, even people like me that do not like our leaders past and present have to wake up and realize that there is no way fuel can be sold for below N200 without issues arising. 1 Like |

nairalanda1: Stop making excuses for government laziness. How much is fuel sold in Libya, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia. These are oiil producing counties that utilised their oil to their own advantage. Before you mention our huge population compared to oil output as a basis why those countries are doing better, look up the countitution and point to where it is a crime to expand our oil production since we have huge oil and gas reserve. The laziness of the government over the year is the reason for this crises. Other countries that doesn't subsidise PMS still subsides other commodity. Stop making excuses for the irrepomsibity of the government 2 Likes |

vengertime: So, how would you have paid for subsidy if you were president then? I am serious. And don't be daft. I am not excusing any useless government. Where we disagree is how government fails us. |

Ttalk: I am just about refraining from being abusive towards you. GO and read my post again and see where I blasted this current government and other governments, and tell me where I am excusing government. Read the last line. Why are you guys so one track minded? Is everyone that does not agree with you APC supporter? Read my post again. How much is fuel sold in Libya, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia. These are oiil producing counties that utilised their oil to their own advantage. Again go and read my posts and see where I say, repeatedluy that Nigeria must run a diversifed economy, and that Nigeria must industrailize. I even have posts blasting APC for not doing so. PLus, yes, those countries have small populations and produce more oil than NIgeria...that is why they can afford subsides. We can't, that is why we have to follow what china, japan and germany and co do, and become an exporter of manufactured goods and services. Something I have said repeatedly on this site...yet you are here with your low IQ Brain accusing me of backing government Read, negro, READ! The laziness of the government over the year is the reason for this crises. Yes, that is true....see my previous posts.
Many of those other countries also charge the kind of taxes that if we did it here in Nigeria, many of you will riot on the streets , infact beyond what ENDSARS did in 2020. Everyone would be out on the street, from boko to ipob to apc and pdp supporters. Even those subsides are not for everyone they are for the poorest of the poor. Again, na tax wey they pay for am. Beyond what we pay in NIgeria. Germany and Denmark have subsides, and a tax rate that can chop half your income every year to pay for them. Same for UK. And the richer you get, the higher your tax. If they do am for Nigeria, by now tinubu would be overthrown, and in prision. Anyway, make we dey laff at you. . Stop making excuses for the irrepomsibity of the government OKay, let's support subsidy for fuel, so that it would cost N65 per liter today. By the time salaries and other monies from government start getting delayed, you go know what is up. |
Re: NNPC ₦920: What Nigerians Should Expect Before Christmas by nairalanda1(m): 1:22pm On Sep 17 |
FourQu: Yes, and by 2020, EL Rufai was weeping that monies to state governments were running out. ALso, all that subsidy contributed to the 99% of government revenue going on debt servicing that forced tinubu to drastically remove siubsidy May 29, 2023. Every action get equal and opposite reac tion Buhari subsidsed...and left a huge debt as a result. A large chunk of that was by ways and means. RIght now, the NA is trying to sort that mess out (while tinubu continues with the ways and means stuff)
Yeah, because his government and past governments have been so oil centric, that they forgot to diversify the economy Here we are, a falling naira, contributing to rise in fuel prices, and rise in subsidy costs. You are seeing the results of bad APC governance. [ OYa, how would you have maintained subsidy with debt eating 99% of our revenue. And for God's sake, this does not mean I am defending APC government, you joker! |

nairalanda1: Only a newbie or fool who knows nothing of your moniker would think you're not among the agbado crew In the beginning there was subsidy - you cried Later, they told all of us that subsidy was gone - you rejoiced Then we found out it was a lie, a bigger subsidy was being paid - you said no problem let it continue Today the government are denying the subsidy payment - you're not even bothered anymore 🙄 YOUR ONLY JOB ON NAIRALAND IS TO CAJOLE THE READERS TO ACCEPT THE PUMP PRICE OF PETROL AT WHATEVER IT IS JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE SOMEWHERE KEEPS TELLING YOU THAT THERE IS NO SUBSIDY which you know fully well to be a lie Remember, this is the same subsidy you cried about in the beginning that MUST GO, but today you're okay with it being paid even when being lied to about it. See, you ehn . . . You ehn 😒 |

FourQu: Well, I know you are married to five succubi and twelve incubuses In the beginning there was subsid Sorry to dissapoint you. I did not cry. IN 2011, AFTER supporting subsidy since 1993, I decided to take another look, and listen to what the GEJ government was saying, despite my aversion to PDP. I listened to people like NOI, SLS and company. The result was an oppostion to subsidy since Jan 2012. Well, you are free not to believe me, thus, I am free to believe you are married to five succubi. Hope they treat you well. I still despise all our politicans and army rulers because again in 2011, I was also awoken to what ails Nigeria. Dutch disease. But since your succubi are occupying your brain, you won't get it, dear boy. (I don't like tinubu, and was hoping Gani would have gotten him in 2006, but sadly...) Later, they told all of us that subsidy was gone - you rejoiced No, as I have said here...so many times, once the government sets the price, there is a subsidy. I was proven right in October 2023. You were too occupied with the lovely succubi to see that. Then we found out it was a lie, a bigger subsidy was being paid - you said no problem let it continue Well, I have constantly blasted the government for keeping the subsidy...read my posts. That is, if you can resist the succubi first. Today the government are denying the subsidy payment - you're not even bothered anymore 🙄 YOUR ONLY JOB ON NAIRALAND IS TO CAJOLE THE READERS TO ACCEPT THE PUMP PRICE OF PETROL AT WHATEVER IT IS JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE SOMEWHERE KEEPS TELLING YOU THAT THERE IS NO SUBSIDY which you know fully well to be a lie Well I did say yesterday there is a subsidy, old man, so what are you on about? Hmm, time you left them succubi alone? PLus, subsidy has to go so that we can have working refineries. Petrol and other refined products work well as a business...not as a charitable service. Niger and Ghana have no subsides and working refineries. DItto SA,
LIke I said, I have never been okay with subsidy. But because your brain is daft thanks to the succubi...you are blind, and cannot see. Well,I cannot help people who don't want to see.

FourQu: The problem you have is that you want things cheap, and you regard things being cheap as a sign of good government. Me, I think that if you want goood government, you got to be a producer nation, and you got to be industrial enough But because you think everyone that disagrees with you is agbado, well, it isn't worth it Good afternoon. Enjoy your subsidised petrol. Your master tinubu is still doing it...at the expense of our economy |

nairalanda1: Hahaha 😆 nairalander1 I like you very well. You will make one hell of a propagandist if you really are allowed to fly off the pages of nairaland. Why did they relegate you to these annals? You're obviously meant for greater services to the government. Why did they put you in here with helinues, DevilsEqual, yarimo and co? It's a very huge downgrade and it's beginning to affect your melodies over the past few months 1 Like |
