My odo meter (distance meter) isn't working self
the speed meter isn't working, I mean the kilometer and miles reader.
My fuel guage isn't working too

I bought 33k fuel this morning but it's still on reserve.

The scanner man could not correct the error, he said that we have to change something, I have forgotten the name, he said it's 80-100k to change it.

Impossible.
Only highlander and venza can share engine.
Plus maybe hilux and fortuner.
No corolla will be able to use a venza engine.
Camry muscle 2010 and 2011 uses venza engine.

As for corolla, I've never heard of it before.

You and your mechanic are basking innignorance, but let me educate you a bit.

For the year in question (2012), there is nothing like a corolla using venza engine. The 1st gen venza only had two engine trims which are the 2.7ltr i4 and the 3.5ltr v6, and no corolla to the best of my knowledge uses that 2.7ltr i4 engine. Only the hilux, highlander, sienna, hiace, some prados have this 2.7ltr engine (which are also different).

The 2nd gen venza comes with a 2.0ltr i4 engine, however that engine became available from 2018.

So stop arguing that your 2012 corolla has a venza engine.

Do your research well else your kazeem go run you down.

Lastly, how you go dey buy 8k fuel to test mpg? Fill up your tank and compare how long it last with your previous vehicle. And hope say you no be one of those people wey believe say ac dey chop fuel sha?

This exhaust sensor he is talking of could just be the Oxygen sensor if you check properly and oxygen sensors are not even difficult to get both as brand new and as tokunbo.
Please stop trusting your mechanics blindly or completely and open up your mind to advise and possibly solution from some top specialist on this platform.
This is just my opinion, you can take it with a pinch of salt.

Some highlanded share engine with sienna or camry. Sequoia and Tundra are known to share engine. Venza is fuel efficient except when something is wrong.

There are two oxygen sensors. Upstream and downstream. The Upstream will be right after the exhaust manifold while the downstream will be after the catalyst. The job of these sensors is to measure what comes out of your exhaust manifold and Cat and do a conversion to determine how efficiently they are working.
I am not a Toyota expert but fuel consumption of a car or any vehicle are determine by how many injectors it has. Most Corolla has 4 injectors cos they classify them as compact car. Camry and Venza are classified as full size car are will have 6 injectors. All you have to do is see how many injectors you car use and that should explain it.

I do not have the scan result, the person that was scanning it told me it's exhaust sensor. I told my mechanic and he told me that all cars uses two exhaust sensor that's close to the bunnet, I can't find it anywhere, my mechanic told me it's expensive that one is 23k that he has one for sale and I should look for the other.

The scanner man didn't tell me if it's two two that's bad or just one, that's the problem right now, but nevertheless I'm searching for the two.

Good morning Nairalands

After my never ending fuel gulping battle with my Toyota Camry, I later ended up buying a 2012 Toyota Corolla.

I went with my mechanic to a car stand to get it, when we got there we saw different kinds/types of corolla. My mechanic told me some are 1.8l engine while others are 2.0l and a lot of the corolla uses venza engine.

I wanted to buy any of the corolla of 1.8L engine but my mechanic told me that they're old model, that I should get a recent corolla with Venza engine, but I refused when I heard the word "venza engine"

I told my mechanic that over my dead body will I jump from frying pan to fire, from Camry to Venza. I said so because since the corolla is using Venza engine, it'd surely gulp up fuel like Venza, which would be a lot worst than a camry.

But my mechanic assured me that what I said is very false, that it won't. That a corolla is a corolla and corollas doesn't eat fuel.

His words really calmed me down and I bought the 2012 corolla.

So I bought 8k fuel to test the fuel usage and see how long it'd last, I know I should have bought more, but I needed to get a faster result.

Well, it turns out that my mechanic tricked me and I'm in so much pains right now, my 8k fuel only went for 31km before the fuel got exhausted, I later realized that I was very much right and shouldn't have listened to my mechanic that a corolla is a corolla, venza engine or small 1.8L engine.

From my observation, it seems the 2012 corolla is gulping up fuel like a venza. Yesterday, I took it to a mechanic and asked them to fix anything that'd make the car to gulp up fuel, they changed the plugs, cleaned the filter, I will be testing it today with another 8k fuel, I pray and I hope that it won't be as bad as it was yesterday, because I'm so depressed right now, after what my camry did to me which made me went for a corolla, now I'm having same issue with my corolla. I'm really so down right now.

How much per litre?

8k fuel is very small these days and if you bought at 1100 per litre then it means 7.2ltrs although your car supposed to do at least 7-8km per litre which means you are supposed to get above 50km on 8k fuel

No thanks to federal government, fuel cost killing the masses since May 2023

Venza is V6 and should be 3.5 engine, not 2.0. I'm not sure there is venza with 4 cylinder and even if there is, it should be around 2.5 engine.

I will get the name of what the scanner man said needs to be changed, or probably snap it and post it here, I really need to know if it'd make the odometer and speed meter read again, my mechanic said the speed meter not reading is affecting the jar box selector and not making it select fast. I don't know how true is it.

I think you need to get this clear, All corollas do not come with Venza engine, they do come with 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE four-cylinder engine with 132 horsepower (98 kW) and 128 pound-feet (174 N⋅m) of torque. I have never seen where a 2012 corolla with come with either a 2.7L four-cylinder which delivers up to 182 horsepower or a 3.5L V6 generates up to 268 horsepower.

Also, a lot of things determines if your car will consume fuel or not, a lot of us do ignore checks engine signs and we believe all is well with our car.

I'm desperate to solve the fuel issue, that's why I need to get everything done.

I looked for the sensor everywhere but I couldn't find any, my mechanic brought one to me and said it came with a car engine, he would be fixing it tomorrow, I will try and look for the other so everything will fall into place.

Do you know where I can get the car scanner and the name also, so I can scan it myself and share the code here?
