It's quite simple. Government stops setting price through NNPC, and lets the marketers set the price instead.

Simple and short.

Fuel is not cheap. Even at N1000, it isn't.

Time to face realities, boys.
and what is the poverty index in the country compared to your naira strength? So at 1000 naira it’s still cheap? You want Nigeria 🇳🇬 to run a two class system extremely rich and extremely poor. With the middle class wiped off. You really know your Tinubunomics well

Please show me what he has achieved in any of your points below...

try to reduce our debt to gdp ratio so that the naira can be strengthened.......focus on food security by making food more Available.

Invest in mass housing

Make power supply more efficient

Make social services like health care and education cheap and affordable so households can have more disposable income they hitherto would have spent on these.
Electricity, it depends on where you are. This band system has greatly improve electric supply. Where I am it's 18 to 20hours light daily.
Food security, can't you see how tomato and some other item price went down?
Are you not aware of the military operation in the north?
For some days now several bandits have been caught and killed. This will enable farmers go back to farm.
So you think we've not been paying for our debts? Tax is high because we're paying debt bro.

As for education, loan should get to all student education is not cheap

All this things you said have no data to back them up, I need data to compare between now and when Buhari was in power.

Everything you said here was from your observation not proper data, if you want data for food inflation I can provide it for you and you can compare even for insecurity, cost of transport and so on, I can provide each data for you to show you otherwise...

Provide data for me to back up your claims...

I don't have any data for you. I should provide data that I'm using 18 to 20 hours light?
Or data that there's no more herdsmen vs farmer clash unlike previous administration?
I don't have the data believe whatever you want to

COMRADES, Nigerians thought that they will heave a sight of relief when Dangote's refinery comes on board, not knowing that we are still in for it, as long as there's a bad government at the moment, Nigerians should not expect anything positive

If I may ask, who did we offend that we can't get things right in this country?

We've offended God by our fake way of worship. Nigeria have the highest amount of religious scammers. Both Pastors and Imams

If you are using 18 to 20 hours light does it mean every Nigerian is using the same? that Is like saying every Nigerian eats 3 square meal because you do....

At least you should provide data that all Nigeria have improve power supply, that is how you know a country is improving.

Improvement that touches everybody, you can't use yourself to generalize for everybody...

Right how......so dangote should give you the petrol for free or what..... The US and Saudi Arabia has far more oil than Nigeria but petrol isn't cheap in those countries.

You are even lucky dangote is selling below 1,300 go check the international price for crude then you know the price is fair.
Petrol is cheap in the USA.
Why do you guys do this?
Is affordability not directly proportional to income?

Americans an sort their monthly fuel bills from less than a days work while minimum wage can't fill some cars in Nigeria.

$4.5 per liter and you call that affordable....a thousand naira is way less than 70 cents.....have people stopped driving or buying cars on Nigerian roads.. gas stations are still being opened daily.

High prices will lead to energy efficiency, dangote is getting his crude at a price and must be allowed to sell at a profit.....we need to unlearn our thought processes that believes we cannot survive without subsidy.

It's $4.5/ gallon not per litre.
That's roughly $1plus per litre.
Is it still cheap or not?

From your comment you sound like someone who has low economic understanding, like what do people open breweries for? there are breweries all over the world, it is a muti billion dollar industry....

You open a brewery to make money and not for people to get drunk, that is a state investment with returns for the state, why do we have Guinness, Gulder, Heineken and so on?

The way you guys talk all because of politics and tribalism, so a brewery investment is not a good one for a state and yet foreign investors come into Nigeria to invest in the same thing...

Look at the way you people reason now....

Petrol business is what? If I am to borrow your logic.....a charity?why didn't obi make the beer from the brewery so cheap that anyone could afford it.

You can easily blame tinubu for redirecting scarce resources from wasteful ventures like fuel subsidy and defending the naira but is ready to praise an obi who his present state gov as lampooned several times for not making the best choices as regards Anambra states finances, even his immediate predecessor attested same.

I put it to you that the only reason you are quick to insult tinubu is because he is Yoruba and he defeated your candidates twice,GEJ and obi......when obi won all the votes in the SE with nothing for the others,it's not tribalism but when a Yoruba man supports tinubu, you shout tribalism.....obi even won in Lagos and atiku in osun but to you yorubas are tribalist.

Stop the hate then others too might begin to see the good in your candidate.

That's still over 2000 naira a liter...they could have as well made it 50 cents a liter since they got oil too..... affordability is relative and in the Nigerian context, pms is available for those who really needs it.

2000/litre is nothing to an average American or European cos they earn maybe $10/hr.
Most people don't even earn that in two days in Nigeria.

I may not really have had any problem with subsidy removal if the government had done their homework before removing it, I think I've explained this thing to you before...

Our government is incompetent. No argument there.

Before subsidy removal, the World Bank and co did numerous studies on the impact of subsidy removal, and money was given, which the government should have added to to help alleviate the impending sufferings, but here we are.

Fact is, government can not continue to afford to subsidise, and fuel and most other things are bound to become a lot more expensive.

Tinubu said the Nigeria economy will be in trillions, and this is how we will get there. Minimum wages of ₦70k is likely to be ₦700k in a very few years time and it still would not make fuel any cheaper.

I came up with this theory that Nigerians are not revolting YET because most prepared for situations like this through savings , contributions, thrift societies, buying properties and the ever present extended family support...... All these are what people are using to get by
How long it will last before the people revolt depends on how quickly the government acts and how soon it's policies start having positive impact on the economic life of the people

When Nigeria stops subsidising my fuel use and charges me fuel tax instead like many nations already do, I'm very certain I will understand the news then.
The problem with this your train of thought is that most of those "countries" actually produce something hence their economy can afford to tax that much
Yours do not even have a welfare scheme that does not involve sharing rice😄😄

a significant portion of what consumers pay is directed towards government taxes. “It is important to recognize that the price paid by consumers at the pump is determined by multiple factors, including crude oil prices, refining, transportation, and, notably, taxes,” Al Ghais pointed out

In our case, the crude oil is refined locally so remove transportation.
Also, it's sold in the local currency( however, there are some discrepancies in this claim because Dangote claimed it only sold in the equivalent of the exchange rate to dollar )

In all, the FG is to blame for the high cost in Nigeria.
You remove subsidy and you still impose heavy tax on crude oil refining

You have a country where the ruling party has not diversified our economy, so we don't earn as much forex as we should, neither have they done anything about making us an industrial nation.

So, naturally, you would have a weak economy

The amusing thing is that tinubu took his hand and did himself by himself. Supporting a government of Buhari that did not reform the economy, and himself running an economy that is so so unproductive.

The naira devaluation is the result of such policies. The APC refused to take sane economic decisions, now it has come to bite them in the arse. Thus, either devalue the naira and do partial removal of subsidy, or face the wrath of mother IMF.

Want a strong currency....you do what the countries that have strong currencies do....you make something people need and export it.

Yes transporters are in business to make profit and the poor can always make use of them for their own businesses or essential needs.

Look at the economics of subsidy........an 18 seater bus would require about 25k to fuel from Lagos to oshogbo,a journey of about 209 km. This would be shared by 18 persons while the reach would require same amount of fuel for fewer persons possible 2 or 3.

Now let's assume govt is paying 50% subsidy and you get to buy fuel @ N500 per liter that would be 12,500 for 18 passengers as against 12,500 for 2 or 3 passengers for the rich, mow tell me who benefits more from the supposed subsidy.

Tinubu is happy you guys did a good work for him, he is enjoying the benefits of the disunity.
