I will get the name of what the scanner man said needs to be changed, or probably snap it and post it here, I really need to know if it'd make the odometer and speed meter read again, my mechanic said the speed meter not reading is affecting the jar box selector and not making it select fast. I don't know how true is it.
If the speedometer is not working the car won't select well sir,
So either ur ABS module is part of ur problem too but i dont know until a scan result is provided.

There is just so much myth about Fuel efficiency. The higher the car the more the demand else you want to buy Lada.

Good morning Nairalands

After my never ending fuel gulping battle with my Toyota Camry, I later ended up buying a 2012 Toyota Corolla.

I went with my mechanic to a car stand to get it, when we got there we saw different kinds/types of corolla. My mechanic told me some are 1.8l engine while others are 2.0l and a lot of the corolla uses venza engine.

I wanted to buy any of the corolla of 1.8L engine but my mechanic told me that they're old model, that I should get a recent corolla with Venza engine, but I refused when I heard the word "venza engine"

I told my mechanic that over my dead body will I jump from frying pan to fire, from Camry to Venza. I said so because since the corolla is using Venza engine, it'd surely gulp up fuel like Venza, which would be a lot worst than a camry.

But my mechanic assured me that what I said is very false, that it won't. That a corolla is a corolla and corollas doesn't eat fuel.

His words really calmed me down and I bought the 2012 corolla.

So I bought 8k fuel to test the fuel usage and see how long it'd last, I know I should have bought more, but I needed to get a faster result.

Well, it turns out that my mechanic tricked me and I'm in so much pains right now, my 8k fuel only went for 31km before the fuel got exhausted, I later realized that I was very much right and shouldn't have listened to my mechanic that a corolla is a corolla, venza engine or small 1.8L engine.

From my observation, it seems the 2012 corolla is gulping up fuel like a venza. Yesterday, I took it to a mechanic and asked them to fix anything that'd make the car to gulp up fuel, they changed the plugs, cleaned the filter, I will be testing it today with another 8k fuel, I pray and I hope that it won't be as bad as it was yesterday, because I'm so depressed right now, after what my camry did to me which made me went for a corolla, now I'm having same issue with my corolla. I'm really so down right now.
Mechanic Mugu don catch you😂😂😂🤦🏿‍♂️

Only Matrix and Corolla share engines. That Venza thing is not true. Besides, you have to drive with a full tank before you can rightly judge your fuel consumption.

Even telling you he has one of the 02sensor and the other cost 20k alone means his own should cost 20k also.
Baba, change your mecho and the scanner man, cos it looks like both of them are working together to run you down

Impossible.
Only highlander and venza can share engine.
Plus maybe hilux and fortuner.
No corolla will be able to use a venza engine.

Let me help you out. I need to know how much you paid for a liter of fuel. Assuming 1k per liter that should have give you 8 liters which to me is 2 gallon,

Corolla 18L 4 cylinders fuel rate is 35 miles per gallon Highway and 28 miles per gallon city
Venza engine 4 cylinders 2.7L fuel rate is 30 miles highway and 22 miles city
Partner you getting 31 km (19 miles) for 2 gallons just doesn't make any sense to me. Unless the dispensing pump had been tampered with. Even GMC Yukon with 8 cylinders 5.7L engine still gives 16 miles of Highway and 10 miles of City. My advice to Nigerians is to try as much as possible to drive a car with a minimum of 2.4L engines that will help your transmission torque converter due to constant use of the car AC and high temperature. Nigeria weather is similar to Texas, and 80% of Texans drive V6-engine cars.

If you are in Lagos , come and test drive my Mercedes c300 4matic. I use 5k fuel from Lagos to Ibadan , and about 3k from Ojodu Berger to Lekki if there’s no traffic.

The only problem with the new modern benze is cost of maintenance which doesn’t come as frequent as Toyota, Trust me I’ve used Toyota. Benze fuel consumption is lower than most toyota . The only Toyota that can compete in fuel consumption with this c300 is Toyota Prius . And I’m talking from personal experience.

You can send me mail koladata@gmail.com , I’ll give you to test drive. I’ve been a preacher of Mercedes since I started driving one. The maintenance cost is high but not as frequent as that of Toyota. And the fuel consumption is unimaginably low

OP. BROS YOUR MECHO NA SCAMMER. I'M NOT SUPRISE BECAUSE EVERY MECHO LOVES A NEW CAR OWNER( AN OPPORTUNITY OF GETTING CLOSE IN COMPLETING THAT LOCAL HOUSE IN IFO, IKORODU, ATAN, SANGO OR LUSADA).
OP, YOUR CAR CATALYST IS MISSING, HENCE THE REASON FOR p0138, p0141 etc..
IT'S KINDA RARE TO HAVE BOTH AIR/FUEL RATIO SENSOR(BANK 1) AND OXYGEN SENSOR(BANK 2) FAULTY SAME TIME. FIX YOUR CATALYST FIRST OR BETTER STILL, GO BUY SPACER WITH BUILT IN CATALYST IF YOU NO GET MONEY. THEY'RE CHEAPER AND WORKS ALSO IF YOU GET THE RIGHT ONE.
AND AS FOR YOUR SPEEDOMETER GUAGE/CLUSTER, CHECK IF YOUR BRAKE AND ABS LIGHT IS ON ON YOUR DASHBOARD. IF ON, THEN YOUR ABS MODULE IS BAD.
THE FIX FOR IT IS TO CHANGE THE MODULE SENSOR ONLY. IT'S EASY TO CHANGE BUT I DOUBT YOU SCAMMER MECHO GO FIT DO AM.
SHA CHANGE YOU MECHO, NA SCAMMER grin grin
IT'S OBVIOUS HE'S WORKING WITH SCAMMER /SCANNER MAN TO RIP YOU. THEIR BELIEVE BE SAY YOU JUST BUY MOTOR SO MONEY DEY YOUR HAND. grin

Two things may cause it
1. Check the air censor a plug with wire on the exhaust manifold close to the top cylinder
2. Check if they have removed the catalyst if yes replace it.

Yes, we saw lots of corolla that are using venza engine.

Corolla doesn't use Venza engine - Camry and other SUV do. Check if they catalyst and oxygen sensors of your exhaust system are intact. They assist in regulating air fuel mixture with all needed adjustments

From auto technician point of view, a lot of components are responsible for excessive fuel consumption. If the engine oil is over due for service, faulty mass airflow sensor, inoperational evaporative emissions sensor, upstream and downstream oxygen sensors, faulty ignition coil and nozzles, finally scan the car for fault codes and clear them

Dont mind him,31km is likely what you get for 7-8ltrs in this Tinubu time,I use corolla 16 and Camry 18,they consume a lot more than that half tank is 33k at the rate of 1100 and they both last 15 days

So sorry about this.

You see the Nigerian mentality can be something else and too delicate to go by.

Learn to follow the manufacturers guide and specifications.

Why will the manufacturer put a Venza engine inside a corola which is actually smaller than the actual Venza?

Sincerely you shouldn't have bowed to buying that car. You actually bought a Venza not a corola because the engine of a car is more than 55% of the car.

You might have to sell it off quickly and buy the real1.8L corola car.

NB: The more mechanics especially the not too good ones deep their filthy hands into it, the more they are devaluing it.
