Our government is incompetent. No argument there.

Before subsidy removal, the World Bank and co did numerous studies on the impact of subsidy removal, and money was given, which the government should have added to to help alleviate the impending sufferings, but here we are.

Fact is, government can not continue to afford to subsidise, and fuel and most other things are bound to become a lot more expensive.

Tinubu said the Nigeria economy will be in trillions, and this is how we will get there. Minimum wages of ₦70k is likely to be ₦700k in a very few years time and it still would not make fuel any cheaper.

You started your entire write up with you agree that the government is incompetent and then ended by saying the promise of an incompetent government in your last paragraph.

Are you saying you believe the promises of an incompetent government?

Petrol business is what? If I am to borrow your logic.....a charity?why didn't obi make the beer from the brewery so cheap that anyone could afford it.

You can easily blame tinubu for redirecting scarce resources from wasteful ventures like fuel subsidy and defending the naira but is ready to praise an obi who his present state gov as lampooned several times for not making the best choices as regards Anambra states finances, even his immediate predecessor attested same.

I put it to you that the only reason you are quick to insult tinubu is because he is Yoruba and he defeated your candidates twice,GEJ and obi......when obi won all the votes in the SE with nothing for the others,it's not tribalism but when a Yoruba man supports tinubu, you shout tribalism.....obi even won in Lagos and atiku in osun but to you yorubas are tribalist.

Stop the hate then others too might begin to see the good in your candidate.

Look at the way you people reason, how can you be comparing beer and oil?

Oil is a natural resource which nobody put in any effort to make, it is God given, while beer is not....

That is the difference, so something naturally given to us by God should be bought by us at the same price with those who God did not give...

Did you pay a dime for crude oil to be in Nigeria, but Peter Obi paid millions of dollars for the brewery to be in Anambra, is brewery a natural resource?

Like I told earlier, you sound like someone with very low economic understanding....

And then since you claim Tinubu has started redirecting scarce resources to other places it is needed...

What has improved in Nigeria since he started?

Please just mention one thing that has improved...

Even with all his wasteful spending , Nigeria has borrowed almost 5 billion dollars in just 1 year, this morning he is about to borrow another 1.5 billion dollars additionally, that will make it over 6 billion dollars in less than 2 years....

What has improved in Nigeria since he started?

You Tinubu supporters are just very wicked and heartless if you guys are not then you guys just have very low economic understanding...

That was how you guys supported Buhari for 8 years doing damage to the country even when people like us were talking like we are doing now, only to now admit after 8 years that he failed...

You guys are very wicked....

No, Brendaniel, I am not saying I believe the promises of an incompetent government, since an incompetent government can not fulfil its promises. Besides, the incompetent government did not promise the astronomical increase in prices that I have predicted.

What I am saying is an incompetent government will introduce inefficiencies which will be reflected in price increases, so expect things to cost a whole lot more than they currently do.

Our incompetent government has already threatened private industry with sanctions if they do not pay the 70k minimum wage. That increase will be reflected in prices across the board.

Just think. A private school teacher who was paid 30 or so k will now have to he paid 70k. How much do you think school fees will need to rise to cover that increase. Ditto, gari and transport, and wages, eventually.

So how does that really solve the problem on ground?

The problem with this your train of thought is that most of those "countries" actually produce something hence their economy can afford to tax that much
Yours do not even have a welfare scheme that does not involve sharing rice😄😄
So yeah let them keep charging you oh😄
Smh

The government does not give a flying fuq about my welfare! And yes, we don't produce anything. But that will not stop the government from taxing me.

In fact, the fact the government does not care about my welfare is the reason they will tax me even more. Government does after all need my tax to pay themselves millions and buy presidential planes and treat themselves in UK and send their kids to Harvard, especially now that income from crude oil is drying up.

As a side, less than 8 million elected the current president while I couldn't bother to vote. I ignorantly believed my vote does not count so I stupidly refused to cast it. Now listen to me wailing ebi npa wa, lol.

The sooner I wake up from my slumber and realise that my government does not care about my welfare, the sooner I might start taking more interest on election day so fools don't elect my government.

We must wake up from our slumber and realise that democracy os government by we the people for we the people, and elect competent caring leaders on election day instead of letting a mere 8 million people elect ọmọ wa ni and my religion leaders in a country of over 200 million people.

Untill we do that, we shall continue to be led by the ignorant selfish leaders that we deserve.

It's only Govt that's paying that wage most employers aren't ?

I've read government has threatened private companies with imprisonment if they don't pay the 70k minimum wage, but I of course don't believe they will carry out the threat.

They sure will not find it easy to imprison a person who pays their driver or house help less than 70k, and they will close their eyes to local governments who can't pay it neither.

Now that we don't have a competent and caring leader in power, what do we do?

We live in a democracy, where we get to repeat the exam of caring and competent leader election every 4 years. And at the moment, with less than a fifth of eligible voters voting, and less than a tenth for the winner, we are failing abysmally.

We are infants as far as democracy is concerned. Countries getting it "right" today have been at it for many hundreds of years. We are however blessed in that we can learn from those countries and shorten the time to success.

What we should do is educate ourselves to recognise caring and competence and vote for it. We may not pass and get it right at the next election or for many after, but we shall learn one day to get it right.

Please see the wise words below. "Compulsory subject in secondary school".

CaptainFM1:

This is why I said Constitution and Basic Legal Rights should be a compulsory subject in secondary school.

The truth is, even those that are suppose to enforce the law and rights also don't know much....,and this is exactly what the political elites want because it favours their agenda.

So when 4 years reaches again and they rig election again, what happens?

Brendaniel:

If they rig elections and steal your votes, you have not learnt and must continue to repeat the test until you pass.

Your vote is your very valuable property. Learn to secure it!

budaatum:
Sorry Code, but all this na story when people couldn't bother to vote. Its like blaming a thief for robbing your house when you left the windows and doors open and invited the thief in and showed them where you keep your valuables and told the best time to steal them!

People who can't bother to vote will not bother to ensure the credibility of their votes neither so it alone counts. And that is as irresponsible as begging the thief not to steal your unsecured valuables.

Its our duty to ensure we are not cheated, because we alone suffer from being cheated.

So how do you secure your votes?
Re: Tax; OPEC Reveals Reasons Why dangote Petrol Is Costly In Nigeria by budaatum: 10:44pm On Sep 20
Brendaniel:

So how do you secure your votes?

You learn about democracy, its history and what has been dine to make it work. You get involved in the election process. You promote registration. You encourage people to vote. You monitor the count. And you study what is currently being done all over the world to stop steal the vote.

No, the question is how do you protect your vote?

I have told you, and also referred you to further learning.

Its the same way you'd protect your valuable property from thieves, or irresponsibly refuse to learn and let your valuables be stolen.

Your concern should not however be protecting your own one vote, but protecting the democratic process so all votes count.

You don't wait to secure your property when the thieves arrive to steal it. The wise protect their property before the thieves even know they have property worth stealing.

You earlier asked the question below.

Brendaniel:

So are you waiting for the chaos to happen before you stop supporting Tinubu?

And my answer would be yes.

It was my own people in my own town with its one local government that told me they will not vote for a person like me because I wouldn't steal and wouldn't let them steal. Meanwhile, they continue to elect leaders who steal, while they lie to themselves that their vote was stolen as if most of them did not vote for Tinubu!

They will indeed learn when chaos happens and kills them! Then might the remaining open their eyes and see.
