The Holy Grail of emotional intelligence is realizing that nothing anyone say or do can make you angry, it is your brain's reaction to what was said or done that is creating the anger.

When someone said something and you feel angry, the word (sound wave) is out there and your brain detected it but the anger you feel is not something out there that your brain detects, it is 100% created by your brain due to its reaction to what was said.

Now, you can't always control what people do or say about you but you can always work on your brain's conditioning such that it reacts less and less angrily to things and maybe someday one can reach the high state of perfect equanimity where nothing anyone says or does disturbs ones peace, the ancient Greeks call this state ataraxia.
