There’s nothing anyone will say that will convince me to pick players from backwater league ahead of the big 3 players. The only exceptions are EXCEPTIONAL talents with huge numbers. Let arokodare, ilenikhena and olatunji come to the big 3 and prove themselves and we can replace awoniyi. If awoniyi was playing in Belgium league now, I’m sure that it will be goals galore

Help me tell am.

Lol, a young players like George Ilenikhena has scored more champions league goals than most of your "top 3" players put together lol, so your logic isn't plausible.

What have the so called big 3 league players playing in the top leagues won for us? No be the same players dey struggle against low tier teams in Africa despite the super stars we line up? Give me IN-FORM players who are young and eager to prove a point anytime and day. Awoniyi has never really delivered for the NT cause he's simply too injury prone and inconsistent...I'm not buying the top league hype anymore.

Stop dreaming. George is upcoming. He is not there yet. Never reach Awoniyi level.

How many goals has George scored in the league? The season is too early to judge.

Awoniyi isn’t performing for now while we aren’t sure if Solanke want to play for us

He just came back from long injury. Solanke will come if you call him but if he keeps doing well, I don't think so.

you re right on George but it won’t hurt giving him a chance in the Super eagles team at the expense of Awoniyi, iheanacho etc that we all already know they haven’t been effective for the team for a very long time now

The problem is that the judgment can't be objective cause it wouldn't be based on facts.

Awoniyi was a starter at Nottingham, and was on fire before getting injured twice last season. On both occasions Chris Wood stood in and gave a good show of himself. It also coincided with the time a new coach took over the team. Chris wood obviously made a case for himself while Taiwo was injured.

Upon his return this season he's started on the bench, and played a total of 33 minutes in 4 games (18, 14, 1 and 0 respectively). No one can on the basis of the following make judgement on his form. Not even saying he's playing well, but we also don't have enough data to conclude he isn't playing well.

I also don't mind too but saying he is better is a fat lie. It's just one of those tactics to bring one down to lift one up.

Iheanacho is still needed because of his experience though. If he does well in Sevilla, you can't come here to tell me a player in backwater is better than him.

but in a sane footballing nation players are called up to the national team base on current form and how active they are in their respective clubs

You indirectly pointed out a good example with Awo’s current predicament in Forrest. He got injured, Woods was called upon and since then he hv been delivering for the club. It’s left for awo to utilize every mins he gets off the bench to show the current coach that he deserves his starting shirt back

Making a team shouldn’t be based on sentiment or past exploits but current form

no one is bringing anyone down. The guy made his point base on current form of the players in question

As for iheanacho he has nothing more to offer the super eagles, that’s nothing but the bitter truth. Awoniyi’s case is different and more justifiable because he had 2 injury lay offs last season which affected his chances in his team

For instance if Maja or Ilenikhena finishes the season with double figures (goal contribution) I will prefer having any of them in the super eagles than iheanacho if he continues with his lackluster performance in Laliga

Which current form? George never score shingbin for Ligue 1. How is he better?

Abi because he scored against 1 man down Barcelona team?

Maja wey dey Championship. Wetin em do when he was at Ligue 1?

Abeg, na bring down tactics. Nothing more.

Iheanacho is not finished. If he is, a top team like Sevilla no go buy am. Do you think you know more than their scouts?

George isn’t a starter at Monaco yet and scoring against Barca isn’t an easy feat. Not only did he score he won man of the match award after the game

He is just 18 and one of the brightest prospect in his age grade and that is enough for him to be brought in as an understudy to our 3 most inform forwards which are Osimhen,Boni and Lookman. Remember that was the same route Osimhen took before he emerged as the undisputed starting striker for the team once he is fit

In the absence of Osimhen, Awoniyi and others hv been given chances and they all failed to convince we fans that they can do the job perfectly well which is the reason I stated in one of my response to you that we already know what Awo and others can do

Osimhen really needs to fix the timing of his runs.

Till date, his offside awareness is his biggest weakness. He needs to address this if he wants to get to the next level, especially in the Prem where the speed of play is faster.

i actually watch this match live on TV and at that time I was still trying to get why the hype around this Mikel. But years later when I rewatch this match and the confederations Cup, I was blown away with his talent. No speed but he breeze pass players faster than him. See key passes that the others couldn't convert.

There's a reason why a top Ligue 1 club like Monaco bought George...he has played in two champions league tournaments so far at just 18 (one with Antwerp when he was 17) where he
scored against Barcelona and now again. The ceiling of such player is already way higher than you can imagine. And your question as to why George Ilenikhena hasn't scored yet in Ligue 1 is pretty disingenuous.. You can't just expect a 18 yr old kid to be a sure starter yet in his debut season at a new club (except you're a kid prodigy like Lamine Yamal), you can see how Monaco are easing him in slowly, and the fans highly rate him as well.

Iheanacho was good maybe 5 years ago, until he was relegated to a third leg striker behind old man Vardy and Patson Daka of all players...Sevilla only got him as gamble for free cause he was on no contract fee, now we've seen how badly he has regressed...he only makes sub appearances for Sevilla with no single goal or assists.

I'm a fan of Iheanacho , Awoniyi etc but truth is these guys are too injury prone and inconsistent, unfortunately for them football just like life waits for nobody.

I really don't know about others but to me, he is not upto average. He is just a flash in a pan most times and afterwards, he goes ghost mode for more than 10 matches.
He should be ashamed that Ademola who just started playing for the GWG is doing better than him and might become the next African Best
Bro nothing to be ashamed of, when lookman scored his first EPL goal for Everton, Samuel was still playing street soccer.
