Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emerged victorious in the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.
According to the results from 18 local government areas (LGAs) announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes. His closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 247,655 votes.

Olumide Akpata, representing the Labour Party (LP), finished third, receiving a total of 22,763 votes.
With this result, Okpebholo is well-positioned to be declared the official winner of the election

Meanwhile, the PDP in Edo has appealed to the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to review the results collated for the governorship election before the final announcement of the winner of the election.

Dr Anthony Aziegbemi, PDP Chairman in Edo told newsmen on Sunday in Benin that the entries the electoral officers made were totally different from the actual results uploaded on the INEC IREV at the polling units.

Aziegbemi noted that the results had allegedly been inflated in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) through deducted votes from the PDP. smiley

Just as I predicted that APC will win the election if Obaseki fails to use incumbency powers.... I hope Nigerians will finally realise that this current democracy is sham and no progress can be made by participating in these elections until Nigeria is restructured and political powers decentralised....

Let’s be honest, if we adhere to the principle that non-performance should lead to removal, the people of Edo made a sound decision. They chose to vote out the PDP, which fell short on its campaign promises.

Ask any random person from Edo State, and they’ll likely tell you that Adams Oshiomole of the APC stands as the best-performing governor in the state's history.

While I personally disdain the mediocrity of the newly elected governor, I can understand the rationale behind Edo’s electoral decision.

If he result reflect the choices of Edolites then who are we to complain, wishing them de best and wishing the governor elect success, if Zulum can perform under APC then Edo can even do better, my only concern is the guy who don't look composed, Oshiomole may over influence his govt

Edo don become Lagos las las...

Obaseki is not a politician.
All his political enablers turned their backs on him, starting from Oshiomole, Shuaibu, Wike, the traditional leaders and so on...

His strong-head was his undoing...
This loss got nothing to do with Asue Ighodalo but with people's dislike for Obaseki...

I hope the next governor and government brings progress to the people of Edo

First, my sympathy goes to Labour Party and their leader, Peter Obi. It seems 3rd position is their right by birth Or did they labour in vain?

Secondly, you can't tell me this election was rigged, because how can a sitting governor be defeated in his local government?

Thirdly, it is another evidence that Obidients and Labour Party supporters are noise makers who are best at insulting and causing nuisance online/social media platforms.

Lastly, THERE'S NO POLLING UNIT ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

TINUBU TILL 2031.

How can announced results be different from what was uploaded on INEC's own IREV portal?

What then is the purpose of the stupid electoral act and the noise about electronic transmission of result?

PDP is a house divided against itself that will never stand until the house is set in order.

Obaseki fought Wike, fought Shuaibu and yet expected his party to win?

And that's exactly what you Yoruba people want. For someone that cannot coherently complete a sentence to be forced on the good people of Edo.

It can't be well with you and your folk.
