Good afternoon All,

I’m new here and I’ve found the responses very useful. I submitted my passport physically with VFS Lagos for stamping for a Canadian visiting visa. I didn’t get any confirmation via email that it has been received by VFS, but I’ve been tracking it via the VFS website and it says it has been forwarded for processing at the Canadian visa office.

Please does anyone know how long it could possibly take for the stamping and return of the passport so I can manage my expectations. And is there anyway to officially expedite the process?

Thank you in advance as I await your kind responses.

Hello gurus , I just checked the passport tracker on VFS today and it says my passport is ready for collection. Also today, I got a notification from Ircc on the portal saying “eligibility has been reviewed. Please see the final decision below” The final decision is still showing application was approved. I had thought eligibility will come before final decision, but it has come after. I’m a bit worried. Has anybody had this experience before? I will appreciate your responses. Thanks a lot.

If your wife has no family in Canada as a PR or citizen and doesn't have a good travel history, it's better to apply for a UK tourist visa. The chances are higher because Canada is no longer favoring new travelers on tourist visas and no let any visa agent deceive you it not about how strong ur many document or pof..canada no send new traveller again!!

I am not using a traveling agent.
I did my Canada and US visa myself courtesy of this thread and got it.
Canada 8 years and US 5 years.
I am only applying for my wife to follow me on vacation.
Pof is okay and my traveling experience is good also. Just hope my pof, traveling history and Canada visa can influence her own outcome too. That's all

Continue with the application like that, if you are sponsoring her, tick the home maker and upload your own employment letter and necessary documents, this is what I did for my family, the only thing I upload for her was her passport and nin, on the employment side i upload all my documents, also pof is on my name.

Thanks very very much .
I really like this .
It makes a lot of sense

It would have been better for you to picked employed, since she's going for a tourist visa, yes you might been thinking that how will you get employment letter which is very easy, that's why sometimes is better you know an experience agent handle it for everything for you, you family ties and home ties and pof re mostly the deciding factors for them granting visa, usinf an agent you can get any documents that u yourself donr even have but they will bring it out and you will be surprised how is done but you doing it yourself where do you think you will get the documents?

I don't like agents.
Have used them in the past and the outcome was not palatable.
They are very costly for my pocket yet their success rate is low.
I took my time to carefully study this thread since it is a do-it-yourself group and the time, sacrifice has paid off and worth it.
I only spent less than 200k to get my US visa and another 200k for my Canada visa.
If I had used agent, it would have been millions of nairas with so many forged documents they have used for many unknown to me which may lead to high denying rate and affect my future application due to inconsistent information with the agent own

Nothing to worry about.

I got the same notification on the day I got the email from vfs that my passport was ready for pick up. I have my stamped passport with me now.

Is there anywhere in the application that you can indicate that you are both going on vacation and that you already have your visa.

When we condemn the act people give as excuse for abusing asylum privilege it looks like we dont want there progress. For one National that falsely claims asylum in Canada about 2k genuine persons will be refused also. That is the effect. So sorry for your refusal even with such high profile.

I am happy you are applying for your notes, it will give you better clarity of what to do.

Bro, the asylum claim isn't related to the refusal. First, Canada is actively working to reduce the number of temporary residents. Second, based on my experience with applications, the gap between his opening and closing balance raises questions. If he can't explain how he accumulated those funds, it might be assumed that the money was simply deposited for travel purposes. Also, did he provide a convincing reason for visiting Canada? And what were his home ties? I'm not advocating for false asylum claims; I'm just saying that linking his refusal to that claim isn’t entirely accurate. Just my two cents though

I dnt like discussion asylum issue but you Saying asylum claims are not related to the current high refusal rates shows a lack of understanding of how visa systems work. Countries like Canada, usa actively monitor and adjust their immigration policies based on the behavior of previous applicants. If there’s an increase in visa misuse—and current IRCC data shows a 700% increase in asylum applicants from Nigerians, among other countries like India—authorities become more cautious, making it harder even for genuine applicants to get approved. The link between abuse and higher refusal rates is well-documented, so it can't be ignored in this context. Also, check the current rate of student visa rejections compared to last year. So you think an "alarming trend"as stated by the minister will be ignored with it security implications!

Hello everyone, I guess we all are doing great, please I ordered my gcms note for my family class application. I am confused seeing clients detail 2 which happens to be my details. marital status Single instead of married. How can I correct this please I need your help thanks
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Jeboy(m): 10:41am On Sep 24
The number one reason for stricter measures is Asylum abuse. This makes them to analyze indices that were formerly overlooked.

The question is if this sailor has applied for a TRV between 2020 and 2022, there are chances he would have gotten the visa.

While I acknowledge the gaps in the opening and closing balance but it will shock you that a Japanese (if they require visa or even South African will present similar bank statement and they will get the TRV in the present today. So anyone saying historical data of abuse doesn't count is only saying half truth. That is the basis of the extensive investigations for Nigerian applicants.

Yea ,they have to pay again and current fee is 36,720.00 and you need to book online to submit at vfs or walk to dhl anytime as dhl do not need appointmrnt booking to send passport to canada vfs .
Pls is this a new development? Cos someone just told me he was asked to pay transmission fee and he did biometrics in lagos in 2020, he submitted his passport at UPS. I didn't pay last year when I got my study visa. Pls clarify.

My friend I met during biometrics in Lagos on the 9th of May got a refusal letter today, the 24th. I guess is based on when he made his application in April because I have not received any response from them yet and I did my application in May 2nd
