The just-concluded Edo State governorship election has sparked outrage across Nigeria, with social media users taking to various platforms to express their concerns about electoral malpractices.

At the centre of the controversy is Ann Aderibigbe, Assistant Director of Electoral Operations at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Abuja.

She has become the subject of widespread scrutiny following viral claims of her involvement in manipulating election results.

A media report had alleged irregularities in the electoral process, igniting public demands for a thorough investigation into Aderibigbe’s role in the election rigging.

Nigerians, using the hashtag #ProsecutennAderibigbe, have been calling for INEC and other relevant authorities to hold Aderibigbe accountable, after reports that she directly influenced the outcome of the Edo governorship election surfaced.

According to several reports circulating online, Aderibigbe conspired with top INEC officials and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the electoral process in key areas of Edo State.

She was said to have altered the results in favour of the APC, despite the Independent National Electoral Commission’s promise of free and fair elections.

One Twitter user wrote, "We deserve better from INEC. Ann Aderibigbe’s alleged involvement in manipulating election results is unacceptable. It’s time to clean up the system!"

Another tweet read, "The integrity of our elections is at stake. Ann Aderibigbe must be held accountable for any misconduct in Edo. Nigerians won’t tolerate this! #InvestigateAnnAderibigbe."

Many Nigerians are particularly disturbed by reports that Aderibigbe allegedly asked INEC staff to send her their results but instructed them not to share the same information with anyone else.

This has fuelled suspicions that the election’s outcome was tampered with in favour of the ruling APC.

In addition to the allegations of falsifying results, Ann Aderibigbe is also accused of orchestrating chaos in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area to create a distraction.

The chaos allowed INEC officials and APC agents to remove sensitive election materials without the interference of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or election observers.

Many social media users have called for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) to step in and investigate Aderibigbe and other INEC officials who may have been involved in election fraud.

One user tweeted, "We cannot afford to let this slide. INEC needs to be transparent, and Ann Aderibigbe should face the full weight of the law if found guilty. #ProsecuteAnnAderibigbe."

Another wrote, "If we don’t take action now, it will only get worse in future elections. Nigerians deserve better! #ProsecuteAnnAderibigbe."

As the pressure mounts, INEC is yet to release an official statement addressing the allegations surrounding Ann Aderibigbe.

However, the viral nature of the accusations suggests that the commission may not be able to remain silent for long.

Many Nigerians are now calling for the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, to launch an independent inquiry into the role of Aderibigbe and others involved in the alleged election malpractices.

It was free and fair when Oshomole helped Obaseki win

It was free and fair when Wike helped Obaseki win

It was free and fair when PDP won the whole seats in the LG elections.

Today it's not free and fair because Obaseki and his puppet wannabe governor lost.

So na only when una win e dey be free and fair.

Una go cry tire, If una like make una call out the whole world, una don lose be say una don lose.

Make una rest abeg. Accept defeat and move on. PDP should start planning and strategizing on how to win 2027 presidential election so they won't cry again oo. I no wan hear Tinubu this and Wike that. INEC did this and supreme court did that.

Everything APC is doing today, they learnt from their senior brother PDP.

cheesy

Just wondering what Nigeria would look like if these Social Media guys were at the helm of affairs. I guess all oppositions would have been killed and jailed. A situation worse than Genghis Khan's dictatorial reign

I still havent seen any Edo person complain about the election outcome. Not even the Aisha Yesufu

Its then safe to assume who these "Nigerians on SM" are cheesy. Bitter wailers

Election results are on IREV.

Instead of PDP to collate the result and tell Nigerians their findings they're going about spreading propaganda to whip up sentiments.

PDP better put its affairs in order so they can challenge APC and its disastrous government using factual information.

Propaganda won't do much going forward

With no IREV, BVAS or box snatching to blame, they just want to heat up the polity throwing baseless accusations.

Ogbeni keep quiet and address the issues raised. There is indeed a disturbing pattern I've noticed amongst you APC online rats. You guys lack conscience and morality.

Besides where were you yesterday when Cardoso was blaming Buhari for wrecking the economy? Let me guess scouting for free common sense, innit?

Re: Edo: Nigerians Call Out Senior INEC Official, Ann Aderibigbe On Social Media by Kelklein(m): 12:40pm On Sep 26
INEC who is supposed to be the custodian of Democracy decided to murder it in broad day light.. the whole world was a witness.. you could see INEC's effort in at least trying to conduct, upload results to IREV.. but that's where it ends, the rest was a free-for-all at the Collation point.. Brazen impunity and tampering with people's mandate. I suggest a law should be made to make it a treasonable offence when you tamper with People votes for a leader of their choice. Because I can't imagine any other thing more treasonable.

The last time in Kogi, INEC allowed state actors to introduce prefilled polling result sheet. They didn't deny it in court. In Edo, they used prefilled Collation result sheets..

The people voted clearly and the world saw it.. thanks to IREV.

But INEC didn't act on their own, they only followed instructions given from above which the top echelon of the commission are in the know of.. we all know where the instructions came from.. The Security Topguns were in their usual Zombie mode.

What happened in our country these days can't be called Democracy.. It's a show and abuse of power. An utter disrespect to the people and their freedom to make a free choice. It's a State Capture. Molesting the same Democracy you claim to fight for from the military.

The sad part is the Judiciary who is supposed to be the conscience of the nation being bribed and Intimidated into stamping this malfeasance. In the end, they are made to tell those that complain that they couldn't prove their case of alteration of result at the collation point.

And you expect peace and prosperity in the midst of all of these?!

Nonsense allegation. They're asking she should be prosecuted, perhaps they should provide evidence with which she would be prosecuted with or is it their tantrums the court will use as evidence.

Nonsense individuals.
