Now, this is a Stats to believe, not that Statisense nonsense

I expect to see those who do not understand how to draw sound deductions from Statistical figures to come here to gnash their teeth

These are the most commonly eaten food in Nigeria, by population, we have thousands of people eating these everyday.

Its only normal to expect extortionists and greedy traders to keep hiking the prices of these goods, even when the prices have dropped at a wholesales market level

These traders/foodstuff sellers are our biggest problems
price of fuel increased from 680 to 1000, unfortunately it's the traders u chose to blame. Won't these traders transport to the warehouse to buy them?

Why are these Obidients attacking everyone left and right on every discussion. Why are they acting as if what's happening today is for those that did not support Peter Obi alone or they think this attack and abuse will make anyone change his or her direction towards voting him in the next election. Why can't these set of people maintain decorum? Why are they always uncourt, indiscipline and very rude? They think we the rest don't know what we are doing and that they are the set of people to change the narration of this country. It's a pity we have these set of people in our society.

Do you know what you're doing?
If you know, then tell us explicitly.

What this government doesn't understand is that most basics used by Nigerians are imported. That is a very sad relaity that can not be rectified through a hatefilled blanket ban of imported products, or an astronomical increase of tariffs, without a corresponding eagerness to massively provide local substitutes through reinvigorated local production.

As long as other basic essentials that are used daily in our households are imported, and all go through the unbelievably high tariffs regime at the ports, producers and sellers of different local staples, will always factor these worrying realities into the prices of the goods they sell on daily basis. Put succinctly; I'm not going to sell a bag of rice to you for 20k, then when i go to pay the school fees of my child, i will have to drop 500k where i used to drop 200k. So..

Thats where we are at the moment

TO add to the above, farming in Nigeria is not mechanized, but largely subsistence...which is a big part of why we are a net food importer. Subsistence farming can only feed a nation up to a point....not all the way.

Mechanized farming is why the USA and Brazil can do a lot of farming and produce a lot for export. and in the US case, do it with less than 4% of the populatuion working in farming.

Finally rice. I always laugh when I hear about how we are going to be self sufficent in rice production....meanwhile, Thailand and Brazil have the climate and weather and so forth to do all year round rice production...meanwhile the only place where we can do that is severely limited....or we have to spend millions to build a dam that can irrigate only a fixed spot of land. Result...we have to import.

With the amount of rice allegedly pumped into the economy by Tinubu if true, prices ought to have reduced to 60k
Tinubu is the cause of increase in price of rice.
Did Tinubu grow rice or is he importing his own rice separately?? Is it not the same rice we are supposed to be buying in the market that Tinubu is buying for his governors and ministers to share as palliative. Then customs would seize the rest.

Then explain why they're now greedy compare to before

Or could you please mention when in the recent past of this country when we had more than 100% increase in the prices of those basic commodities

Don't you think you're trying to deny the very obvious fact that it's the ill advised policies of the Tinubu led government that has resulted in this current situation in the country?

And don't forget to provide evidences in your reply that the prices have dropped at the "wholesale level"
