PRESS RELEASE

US FIRST LADY JILL BIDEN BIDS FAREWELL TO VISITING FIRST LADIES AT UNGA

The Wife of the US President Jill Biden has bid farewell to visiting First Ladies from other nations including the First Lady of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the 79th United Nations General Assembly.

Jill Biden who hosted the First Ladies to a lunch described her interactions with the First Ladies as impactful as the lunch will be the last she will be hosting as the First Lady of the US.

She says the bond they have forged over the years in their struggle to promote peace in the world and attract development to their respective countries will continue beyond next year January when she is expected to vacate as the First Lady of the United States.

“ I appreciate you all for always coming for this gathering, I have a great feeling that I will be seeing more of you in my next chapter of life. I wish you all the best as you all return to your various countries as it has come to my notice that many of you have a long way back home”.

Lunch events are common on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, serving as platforms for world leaders and their delegations to hold bilateral talks, forge partnership and strengthen diplomatic ties.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu attended the lunch, held at Pier 57, New York, as one of the events marking the end of her engagements and participation at the 79th session of UNGA .

At the #UNGA79 Side Event hosted by @StopTB Partnership, I had the honour of joining Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, @SenRemiTinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador Prof. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, @firstladykwara Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors' Spouses Forum and wife of the Kwara State Governor, along with other distinguished guests at the Westin Hotel, New York City, USA.

The event, themed "Breaking the Resistance: Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance & Tuberculosis Together for a Healthy Future," focused on urgent actions needed to combat the growing threats of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and tuberculosis.

In her address at the event, the First Lady FRN @SenRemiTinubu emphasized that ending Tuberculosis and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) by 2030 is achievable with existing tools and expertise, as Tuberculosis affects people from all backgrounds, with the poor being most vulnerable.

As a Global and National Stop TB Champion, she called for joint efforts, innovative approaches, and research to prevent new infections, improve awareness and education, promote antibiotic stewardship and develop new tools and vaccines.

Dr. Lucica Ditiu, Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership, urged Nations to collaborate by leveraging each other's strengths in the fight against TB. She acknowledged ongoing challenges but highlighted the significant progress that has been made.

The elegance of First Lady, Her Excellency, Oluremi Tinubu was not just in her presence at #UNGA79 but in her powerful advocacy for climate-friendly school programmes.

Addressing the assembly, she emphasized the importance of sustainable education environment in nurturing Nigeria's future generations with both education and nourishment, setting a benchmark for leadership in climate action and child welfare.

Naaa

That’s a sane family! The nation over personal ambition.

She is a woman, and can keep Biden on his toes if she wanted to. You just have to know it’s a principled family.

Trump is skipping lines and going off point too. The difference is that, no Republican can challenge Trump.

Remember the last word of the Republican Nikki Haley, if Trump should get the the Republican nomination, then America should welcome the first female president. That was long before Biden resigned.

Imagine Biden had a Trump spirit and mentality, he will contest again.

First Lady is an outdated term - there's probably a modern day description for the meeting.

He is probably the first man of his country. Maybe the President is g@y and he is the wife of the president, that makes him the first man of his country.

The title is first gentleman.

Doug Emhoff is the current second gentleman of the United States.

The name of the event is the United Nations General Assembly’s Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen
