This is very important. I have seen many parents train their kids who grow up not knowing how to speak their indigenous language. Its really bad. This issue cuts across all dialects in Nigeria . 8 Likes 1 Share |

Most of all, the Yoruba language must be made compulsory in schools. Children MUST read and write in Yoruba. This doesn't stop the learning of English. But then, the ultimate goal should be to gradually free ourselves from the English language. Culture is language!! "Traditional music, dance, art exhibitions, and delectable culinary delights" aren't culture, rather they're expression of culture. They're the part of culture that can't be put in words, therefore, you express it by DOING it. Culture is condensed language. The way your language creates it grammar, syntax, etc programs your brain to do something in a unique way, including "traditional music, dance, art exhibitions, and delectable culinary delights." If Yoruba becomes the first black race to right this wrong, I'll disown my ethnicity and convert to a Yoruba man 182 Likes 9 Shares |

Getting back to our senses... In my days in school, you called it vernacular and that brought us here. Not until foreigners started asking you for it that you realised how important your language was. Self confidence actually makes a man. 1 Like |

Very excellent initiative. Some parents speak english to their children at home but the children will not be able to pass English language in WAEC, GCE& NECO , they still need to pay for learning foreign language when applying for visa. 1 Like 1 Share |

Very very important and they should pass it as law to compulsory their language in school except higher institution whoever not happy with it he or she is free to return to his village. Some people destroyed their own culture, became one biblical country unity beggar, arrogant, abusive, ingrate, invaders, overly proud, insultive, arsonist and these same people trying to transfer all these satanic norms to other peoples land when stopped they go online and starting barking like a toothless bulldog firing insults the ndd there in agony and these same people won't allow any "stranger" to breath in their region, "they love to take but never wish to give" Sorry I didn't mentioned any region so if you think your region fit in to such satanic norms then quote me and receive early morning words missiles. SW I stand by you anyday anytime in your claity to uphold your region, your culture, your integrity, your understanding, and respect for others whoever want to hate you can f u c k to hell. 7 Likes 1 Share |
