BREAKING! Ex-governor Arrested Over Alleged ₦27bn Fraud by NaijaphiliaBlog: 11:11pm On Sep 27 |
Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested a former governor of Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku, over alleged fraud to the tune of ₦27bn. He was arrested at his Abuja house early on Friday 27 September 2024 and is still being held at time of going to press. According to reports, no less than 15 charges have been filed against Ishaku and evidence is being compiled for his arraignment in court. When contacted, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest but declined further comment. Ishaku’s arrest comes amidst the ongoing imbroglio between the EFCC and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, who is alleged to have stolen ₦80.2bn. EFCC personels are just posing and pretending to be active in discharging their duties. All these initial gra-gra in the form of arrest is just to know if an insignificant figure of the loots like 0.0005% will be allotted to them. If they succeed in getting it, the case file shall go missing and the case dies in the eyes of the law. This is Nigeria My country, if you are previlaged to occupy any public position, loot everything lootable, highest you'll will go to jail and spend six months and come out. James Ibori comes to mind. Nothing else..! |

This is the wicked the useless "immunity clause" in the Nigerian constitution has done to this nation - empowered public leaders not to be accountable for their corruption while in office. |

Racoon: No politician steals alone. They are aided by others who do not have immunity from prosecution. The fake contracts they use for stealing are awarded by civil servants without immunity. The padding of the budgets to accommodate looting is initiated by civil servant without immunity and rubber stamped by the legislature that have no immunity and the payments are made by clerical officers and bankers without immunity. Payment clearance for jobs not executed is done by the civil servants without immunity. In summary, public looting in Nigeria is enabled by collusion between a few politicians with immunity and lots of civil servants and other politicians without immunity. If the EFCC wants to make a dent on stopping public looting they will focus on the civil servants that have no immunity but are signing away public funds for politicians to loot. And they will do this while the politicians are still in office. Going after politicians after they have left office is medicine after death. Why go after money stolen a decade ago while allowing stealing to be going on today, only to come back in 10 yrs time to try to recover money that is being stolen today. |
