3 day's ago, I received a WhatsApp message on my phone.

It was a voice note and the sender said and I quoted :

John, I know you will be surprised to see this message, but you need to be very careful of your friends, you need to dey very careful, yes, you need to dey extremely careful.

They sent us your picture to assasinate you. We looked for you yesterday but didn't see you. It was when my Don was going through his phone that I saw your picture and I was like, ha, it's like I knew this face ooooo, it's like I know this face, so I took your picture from my don, in which is isn't aware.

(In fact I need to use pidgin to narrate the voice note just as it was sent to me)

Your friend nai send your picture come say make we fall you. So you need to dey very careful, for the now just dey indoor, nor commot. The God when save you it's like, na your woman I know your woman, na very good woman nai be the God when save you and God so lucky say we find you come yesterday we nor see you, mind the kind friends when you dey follow and stay indoor for the now, nai be wetin I get to tell you. Just go thank your wife when be good woman because if nor be she, I nor sure say you for escape this night own. This night own you for nor escape am. So, you better dey indoor for now, nor commot and nor try am call this number or write me back again, just read this message, nor write me nor call this number for your own safety. Good luck.

Then next he send me my picture, the picture he sent "it's my Facebook profile picture"

Then he sent an 8 seconds voice note "Abi nor be your picture be this one na this your picture nai dem send for we, na this your picture.


Ever since then I have been so restless, I can't think straight anymore. To the extend I made some grave error, I sent the voice note to some of my close and trusted friends on whatsapp, to hear what they think about the issue, I later sent it to my younger brother and told him that I have already sent it to some of my friends, he was angry and told me that what if it's one of the friends that I'm confiding in that's the mastermind of this whole thing, it then occurred to me that I have made a mistake by confiding in friends in this kind of a situation.

My younger brother then suggested that I check the number on true caller, I did and it brought out a name. I wrote down the name and screenshotted it too.

Next I logged out of my Facebook, and I inputed the number on my Facebook, then I clicked on forget password and I got same first name that I got earlier on true caller, I also got a surname and a profile picture. I searched the name on Facebook and saw the profile that came out when I used Facebook forger password option to look for the person. I entered his profile and saved all the pictures there.

I told my wife the issue, played the voice note to her and asked her if she recognized the voice or knows of anyone by the said name that I got on true caller and on Facebook. She said she know two people by that name, but clearly from the voice note I played the voice isn't one of them, that sha has forgotten the voice of the other, so I told her if she got the phone number of the other, she said yes that they attended same primary school years ago.

She searched her phone and brought out the number, we compared the numbers and they were different numbers, so we proceeded in calling the number but recording the call. It was same exact voice, an 100% match. Also the surname I saw on Facebook was what my wife used to save his number.

Another error we made, was that during the call, my wife told him that "someone sent my husband a message on WhatsApp" and it's your voice. That was all she said before I cut her off.

I have been out of town for two days, as I can't stay home, even though the sender warned me to stay indoors for the now, I can't even stay indoor, I packed my things and got out of of town, now I don't know how long I'd be here. A friend asked me to report to the police, I would have done that already but I don't want someone to regret this huge good and favor he did for me, by warning and tipping me off, maybe I would have been walking around without being vigilant and they'd have gunned me down by now, I don't know what to do, please if you were in my shoes what decision will you make, I need answers please, I'm so scared and confused right now.

I'm an introvert, I don't have friends, I only have two best friends. My brother told me this is happening due to envy, that I'm too lousy, that I got my first house I posted it, posted second one got first car, I posted it, posted second one also, now they're putting eyes on my body.

In all my life and day to day existence, I have never offended anyone, I haven't eaten anyone money, I'm not a yahoo boy, I haven't fought with anyone or cursed anyone, I'm so confused right now.

I just got back to town this morning due to some things that's urgent that needs to be taken care of at work. I'm really so confused right now.

Is there no profile picture on the Facebook. Can your wife recognize the person in the picture?

Yes my wife fully 100% recognized the person on the profile picture.

I only have two childhood friends, they're my best friends. They don't measure up to standard but I still roll with them on a daily basis.

No, it isn't she. On the night I got the message she couldn't sleep, she prayed all night until dawn, begged me to go to church and see our pastor that night, next morning she begged for me to go to church. Now she is contemplating on going to see the man that send me the message and plead to him to reveal this friend. I begged her not to do that, that he won't admit that he's the one that sent the message, talk more of revealing the mastermind. But she is adamant, so I agreed for her to go, and she will soon.

This was the mistake we made, I already forwarded the voice note to most of my friends because I didn't took it serious at first, it was later I realized that I have made a huge mistake.

That is the irony of life you don't have to fight or quarrel anybody before they hate you.. My candid advise for you is to accept jesus christ as your lord and personal saviour and move closer to God than before.. And you can go for 3 days dry fasting and prayer and tell God to reveal the deep secret and fight for you.. I can assure as the mouth piece of God and by his grace and mercy God will fight your battle for you and you will overcome your enemy and after victory do not neglect God..keep doing his will and follow him, no weapon fashion against you shall prosper in jesus name and I pray for that God will reveal enemies acting and pretending like a friend to you and disgrace them in jesus name

I pray that my wife is able to talk and plead with him to reveal this friend, I will pay any amount to know the close friend that wants to assisinate me. Why would you send the voicenote to all your friends? Someone tipped you that one of your friends wants to assassinate you, you now send the proof (voicenote) to all of your friends. If your story is true, then idk what kinda stupidity that is. What if the person is one of the people you sent the voicenote to? He'll now know that you know. He'll obviously also go back to the Don (the leader of the group) to complain about whoever gave you the tip because I doubt that was part of the plan and you're probably going to get that person angry. In fact, you've probably angered all of them. Most importantly, they will now come up with another plan to carry out this task. You should've kept quiet and think of a smarter means to go about things, not send the voicenote to all your friends, smdh.

I didn't sent the voice note to all my friends, but some of my friends, the trusted ones. I did that because I didn't take the voice note seriously at first because I knew that I haven't ever offended anyone before. Mcheeww, you're still talking rubbish. Which trusted ones? How do you know the ones you sent it to are trustful and that one of them isn't the culprit who wants to take you out? You shouldn't have sent it to anybody! You didn't/don't know who the friend is but the guy who sent you the voicenote said it's one of your friends, therefore you should've treated all your friends as a suspect and not send the voicenote to any of your friends, not even the so-called trusted ones! This was a really dumb move. It's your poor wife you're putting through all these that I feel sorry for, and I hope they don't do anything to her either.

You're right, I have made a grave mistake and I'm praying and hoping that it won't escalate things for me more than the way it is already. I'm really so scared.
