The very annoying part of it all is when they impound the vehicle they will make sure u fix it in their office.

How can u charge me for an offence and still force me to bring someone to fix my screen in ur office?

I WAS IN COURT ONE DAY THAT A LAWYER SUED VIO AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY DON'T EXIST - I.E NO LAW CREATED THEM AND THEY ARE NOT REGISTERED WITH CAC AND CANNOT BE SUED IN ANY COURT. THIS MADNESS CAN ONLY EXIST IN NIGERIA. HOW CAN AN ENTITY THAT HARASSES PEOPLE INCESSANTLY ON THE ROADS AND MAINTAIN OFFICES EVERYWHERE AND EXTORT & FINE PEOPLE WANT TO FORCE THE COURT TO ACCEPT IT DOES NOT EXIST, THE COURT SHOULD LEAVE IT ALONE TO CONTINUE IT'S NUISANCE AND IT CANNOT BE SUED?

Don't just say it is backed by law, you have to quote the relevant sections where it is stated by the act establishing the VIO, except you have zero knowledge of the subject matter.

It is not a state affair as VIO officials are usually seen loitering on Federal Roads across the country.

My brother VIO is not created by law and they are not even registered with CAC. Everything about them is illegal. They are just used by criminal politicians to extort the public and make more monies for themselves, with the intention that you cannot be able to sue them. They fail.

Let me not narrate an ugly encounter with vio officials on duty before Umunna river bridge in Imo State at duty with rickety VW Jetta, that can't overtake a bicycle

The Vehicle Inspection Office can only be a criminal enterprise because of a dysfunctional police force or a dysfunctional justice system.
Criminals go to jail.
The VIO is an indispensable office for happy motoring. It does not matter how good or bad roads are in the country.
We should rather disband the useless and most corrupt Federal Road Safety Commission.

VIO don't care if your car is road worthy or not, they only cares about extortion.
Seems you have not encountered them on the road.

There are too many duplication of duties, police, VIO, FRSC and LASTMA ( Lagos) plays the same role which results to multiple extortion on the roads.

Anyone who has their vehicle impounded should report to human rights activist and public interest attorney Abubakar Marshal so he can sue on your behalf.

Hopefully, he's wise enough to also sue for legal costs and punitive damages so you both can profit from VIOs illegality.

Yesterday along mile 2 badagry expressway,they were active at the Durban junction to first gate from morning till evening.

Inspection must be done at their offices at point of renewal of papers not on the road.

It's not done like that.

In good climes, basic tests for roadworthiness are prescribed.

Trusted mechanics nationwide get certified by VIO to conduct tests on every vehicle above two years of age once every year.

These mechanics can certify a vehicle roadworthy or advice on repairs/parts replacements. After the repairs/replacements, the vehicle gets certificate of roadworthiness. If the vehicle is beyond repair, the vehicle goes off road and off public parking space.

VIO rather mounts on roadside watching vehicles pass on the road, but not roadblock.
VIO stops any vehicle it suspects to be unworthy on the road. Any vehicle found by VIO to be not roadworthy is immediately impounded by VIO - no option of fine. The vehicle is towed to any of the nearest VIO parking lot and seized. After paying usually heavy fines to government, vehicle owner has to arrange to tow the vehicle to either for repairs/replacements or junk the vehicle.
