Christians around the world often claim that Judging people is a sin because Jesus had told us not to do so. These Christians back their claims reciting Matthew 7:1-6

Matthew 7:1-6

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

The truth is that Jesus didn’t say that we shouldn’t judge. He only thought us the consequences of not doing it the right way. Remember that Jesus is not against justice and fairness.

Luke 11:42

Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.

Someone has got to be judged for justice to be effected. Imagine the chaos that will be in a society where people do as they like (robberies , killings and rapes) without a justice system in place.

Now, what Jesus is saying is that anyone who judges should do so based on the “truth”. This means do not say anything that is not correct or true about anyone. Jesus is against the sin of lying, anytime anyone judges someone based on evidences that are not correct is “lying “. That is why judges of this world have to be extremely careful, they must ensure that they establish the truth before pronouncing judgement on people.Hear what Jesus said below:

John 7:24 ESV
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.

Now with this understanding let us further dig into what Jesus was trying to communicate to us in Matt 7 :1-6.

“Do not judge (it is better to remain neutral in matters you have not established the truth), or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others (if founded that your judgment was far from the truth, that will only make you a liar and a sinner) you will be judged, and with the measure you use (since you have become a liar judging people based on what is not true) it will be measured to
you (the punishment for liars will be given to
you too).

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (Your sense of judgment is wrong by denying yourself of the truth, you believe that your brother has the biggest problem while you have little or no problem).

Therefore, we can conclude based on the scriptures here that if you must judge, it has to be done truthfully and not that you “should not” judge.

HOW TO CONNECT WITH JESUS

John14:6
Jesus told him ' I am the way-
Yes, and the truth and the life. No one can GET to the father (GOD) except by means of me (JESUS ).

Say lord Jesus am sorry for the sins have committed and today I accept you as the son of God and as my lord and personal savior. Help me to follow you now and for ever more. Amen!!!

It is with this understanding that we can see why despite Jesus advice to us not to call someone a “fool “ but still used the same word on someone.

Matt 5:22 kj
But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca,’ shall be in danger of the council; but whosoever shall say, ‘Thou fool,’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

To be in “danger of Hell” is like being in danger of being brought to heavens court of judgement, and after investigations, if found guilty you will be punished. Now, Jesus speaking based on heaven’s standard of truth, called someone “fool”.

Matthew 23:17

17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
Re: Did Jesus Tell Us Not To Judge Or People Misunderstood Him? by MaxInDHouse(m): 9:36am On Oct 01
Jesus actually told his own disciples to stop judging people in the sense of joining a mob to end the life of anyone in the name of faith in God.
In the old testament an Israelite along with one or two more witnesses must come out to accuse a law breaker {Deuteronomy 17:6} and if the offender is found guilty the person who first reported the case must cast the first stone to end the life of the offender! Deuteronomy 13:6-11
When Jesus said "stop judging" he meant none of his own disciples should be among the mob to end the life of any offender rather they must work really hard to save the life of all repentant sinners {1Timothy 4:16} but as for unrepentant evildoers among them they should quarantine such ones and stop associating with him! Matthew 18:15-17 compare to 1Corinthians 5:11-13
So as a Christian i must speak up when my fellow believer goes against the rules of God's organization to report to the elders but no matter what anyone does outside the congregation of God i am less concerned unless if it will affect me then i will have to report to the authorities under which such a person is a subject but among my fellow believers the report should go only to the elders in the congregation of God.

Exactly

Exposing Evil
Fritz Chery
Dec 20, 2022 (with amendments)

It absolutely saddens and disgusts me the amount of people who claim Christianity because they go to a place called church and read the Bible.

Most people who call themselves Christians will be thrown into hell for they’re not of God and especially when someone rebukes them they say, “thou shall not judge.”

First, that verse is talking about hypocritical judging.

Secondly, if you live a continuous sinful lifestyle you’re not a Christian.

I’ve even heard someone say, “I don’t care if she is a satanist don’t judge anyone” I literally almost caught a heart attack.

People don’t like their evil exposed and people don’t like you exposing anyone else so you don’t expose them.

These so-called believers today go against God’s Word and stand up for the devil and even fight against God by condoning and supporting wickedness.

An example of this is the many so-called Church going homosexuality supporters. How can you love what God hates?

How can you love music that blasphemes God?

Isn’t He your Father? How can you go against Him and stand up for Satan?

Except that God is not their Father, therefore, they wrestle against Him.

A Christian hates everything that God hates. Every biblical leader stood up against evil and many even lost their lives for speaking against it.

There is a reason Jesus says true believers will be hated and persecuted.

If you desire to live a God Following life you will be persecuted and there is no way around it.

That is why many fake believers stay quiet whenever an issue requiring them to show and declare their stand and followership of God comes up.

When placed on hot seat they hush up in fear of man.

The Lord Jesus Spoke up, Stephen spoke up, Paul spoke up so we have a right to speak up

We are not be afraid to rebuke others.

If someone is going astray from Christ are we going to be silent so they won’t hate you or are you going to humbly and lovingly say something?

You are not a Christian if you fear the hatred of people!

You are not a Christian if you love the love of people!

A Christian speaks up against all evils and does not care who does not like it.

If we stop exposing evil, rebuking false teachers, and confronting believers we will have more people lost and led astray.

More people will become stupid and believe false teachings. Look at how many people twist “thou shall not judge.”

When you remain quiet then you partake in their wickedness and encourage the doing of evil.

Stop being part of the world, expose it instead and save lives.

The person who truly loves Christ is the one who’s going to stand up for Christ no matter if they lose friends, family, or if the world hates us.

The people who hate Christ are going to read this and grumble.

What does the Bible say?

1. Ephesians 5:11-12 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.

2. Psalm 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand for me against those who practice iniquity? I answer "I will Lord, I will"!

3. John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Why do I need to wait for someone's decision in century ago before deciding on what I think is the best in the present situation?

I am the one interacting with people, I have expectations, so whatever the situation, I am the one in the best situation to judge or not

Christians are allowed to judge each other but they are not allowed to judge unbelievers for their sons, only God can judge them.

The reason Christians can judge each other is for accountability purposes. If we are accountable to each other, we become help each other grow and strengthen the body of Christ.

I Corinthians 5:9-13 NKJV
[9] I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. [10] Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. [11] But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. [12] For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? [13] But those who are outside God judges. Therefore “put away from yourselves the evil person.”

We also need to judge ourselves and ensure we are not guilty of the sins we are judging others for. We shouldn't be hypocrites. Don't judge others for the same sins you're struggling with.

It's a hypothetical question. The Jews of then with their cunningness wanted to implicate Jesus with 5he Roman authorities. So they ask him what to do with a woman who committed adultery. According to the old testament the rules is stoning to death. If Jesus ordered them to stone her to death the Roman authorities will arrest him, if He told them it's okay to do adultery, He will be going against God's law. So He used wisdom in answering them. Saying Judge not and let He who has never sin cast the first stone. They were disappointed with the answer because they could not achieve the sinister hypocritical aim.

Muslims believe in Jesus as a man and a messenger of God not God Almighty himself. i doubt if jesus ever called himself the God almighty. so who is that author who coined the name to him?

Yes he did. But he was not actually saying that it is sin to Judge. You need to read down that chapter to understand the context of the teaching. He was basically giving guidelines to his disciples on how to leave peacefully with other people in the world.

Matt 7:12
12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

And in leaving this way you would have easily fulfilled the expectations of the law.

Luke 6
37 “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Verse 38 of Luke 6 is often misinterpreted by many churches for giving to God when Jesus was actually teaching about giving to men.

But the message bible makes it more clear

Luke 6:37-38 (The Message)
37-38 “Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”
