bemeruca: This is why Nigeria is corrupt and with mentalities like this will never succeed. Ha set aside 3 million for 55,000 Bibles. 1.) It's a Public School, so why are Bibles needed in every classroom? What about the Quran or Torah? 2.) Leaving aside #1. The bibles would cost ~$55 per bible. Bibles can be had for ~$5 and probably less if bought in bulk. If you wanted leather, not sure why, but they can be bought around ~$25. What is the value in the $55 Bible vs. the $5. 3.) Oklahoma is ranked 49 out of 50 in Education. I'm sure that 3 million would have more beneficial uses. It's surprising that anyone who live in a country inundated with corruption like Nigeria, is comfortable with this stuff. I guess it's true that we deserve the leaders we get. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Xavier5: Ok good. Thanks for clarifying. I don't think anything has intrinsic value. All value is subjective which is the reason value cannot be the bedrock for equity. The principle of equity is baseline enough by itself because we are all humans with the same basic needs. I will tie all this into my response to your previous post, no need for you to respond to this post. Thanks. 1 Like 1 Share |

IjeBos: When you have Bibles in the schools in Qatar, we can talk about the Quran in the United States. You are talking about cost now; the money Harris wants to send to Hezbollah can be used to buy those Bibles. $60 is a bargain given that it's a trump branded Bible. With the college students these days and a gay president plagiarizing at will, Oklahoma cant be ranked 49-50 2 Likes |

Really? Dude, bad things are happening to magas on Truth Social already, and I am glad it is! IjeBos:Biden can't and shouldn't waste his time attacking people's 1st Amendment. bemeruca: Gas! No one is angry that dump endorsed bible is being sold. We in fact encourage dump to sell you like ten if you so wish to own so many, and buy a dump watch too. What is concerning is that a state is buying them with tax money!

bemeruca: I repeat. Gas! Both people you mentioned are objecting for the same reason I am, which is the inappropriate spending of tax money on dump's bibles, as opposed to him selling bibles as you claim And I bet you'd object too if a state were buying Kamala bibles with tax money, though I don't expect you to be honest and admit to that. 1 Like |

Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is President-Elect! by budaatum: 4:17am On Oct 07 |
bemeruca: You know very well that atheist me would object to a state using tax money to buy any bibles, moreso inflated priced dump bibles! And that's apart from the fact that the first amendment forbids it. 1 Like

LordReed: Alright, but tell that to the universal intrinsic knowing of the intrinsic value of human life. As I earlier said, people may choose to deny it for personal or ideological reasons, but reality will always be reality. And this is the reality, everybody knows deep down that human life has intrinsic value. And the beautiful thing is, reality always present situations where humans will have no choice but to acknowledge. We can choose to deny it, but reality always has a way of giving us the middle finger. In addition, your non acknowledgement of the intrinsic human value is the reason why we don't share the same definition of liberalism. And as I said, if that's the dominant definition of liberalism here, then I can't associate with such. I prefer to be an independent in this thread. All value is subjective which is the reason value cannot be the bedrock for equity. All value is subjective in what context? In the context of personal opinion? Or in the context that some values are inherently true and right? The principle of equity is baseline enough by itself because we are all humans with the same basic needs. If there's no intrinsic human value, why does it matter if we are all humans? What's so unique in being human? What's the difference between humans and animals? Why do we hurt animals all in the name of surviving? And why does me hurting another fellow human to survive or achieve my personal desires wrong? #Xavier |
Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is President-Elect! by Xavier5(m): 8:09am On Oct 07 |
budaatum: Belief is subjective in the context of personal opinion? Or in the context that certain values or beliefs are inherent true and right? Which one. Secondly, we can't all believe the same things, that's true. But the argument is not if we must or should belief the same thing, but if some beliefs are inherently true or right. #Xavier |

Yesterday, I had an interaction with a lady regarding the upcoming election, and in the course of the interaction, she said Xavier if you aren't appealed to Trump and Kamala, but you nevertheless prefer their running mates, Vance and Walz, rather than stay neutral during the election, why don't you support these candidates because of their running mates? Her statement caused moments of reflection in me which made me come in agreement with her. Yes, I'm not a fan of Trump and Kamala for certain reasons, but their running mates appeal to me for numbers of reasons such as competence, intelligence, character (not perfect), patriotism and passion. So why can't I support a candidate, and by extension, support his or her running mate. Vance and Walz are good guys... men of intelligence, passion, patriotism, and character (not perfect), but I pick Walz over Vance because of; * Liberal bias * The competence, intelligence, passion, character and patriotism of Walz. * The personality of their principals. Trump has a nasty and an "alpha and omega" character, with him, I don't see J.D Vance having the opportunity to exude his capacity as a Vice President. I see a Mike Pence 2.0. But with Kamala, who is sane and reasonable, I see Walz being given that opportunity to exude his capacity. So due to this, I've decided to lend my support to the Harris-Walz candidacy. The support for Kamala is the support for Walz, and having Walz at the White House working in partnership with President Kamala Harris, gives me good reasons to believe that America will be in good hands. Yes, I will not agree with all their views and policies, but hey, there is more to America than whatever views or policies Xavier agrees with or not. #Xavier 2 Likes 2 Shares
