Airline Operators Have Ditched Imported Fuel To Patronise Dangote Refinery —Aviation Minister, Keyamo

The minister added that the decision was made during a recent meeting of airline operators.

Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, says Nigerian airline operators have collectively decided to stop purchasing imported fuel.

The minister made the revelation when he appeared on a live broadcast of Channels TV on Tuesday, saying the decision was made by the aviation sector stakeholders to patronise locally refined products from Dangote Refinery.

The minister added that the decision was made during a recent meeting of airline operators.

This would mark a major shift towards self-sufficiency in Nigeria's aviation fuel supply. By opting for Dangote Refinery's products, the operators aim to bolster the local industry and reduce reliance on imported fuels.

“Incidentally, it also coincides at a point when Dangote Refinery is coming on, and they are about to start producing Jet A1 for our local industry. The airline operators of Nigeria recently met. And let me give you this expo, I am sure they have not released this to Nigerians,” the minister said in the broadcast monitored by SaharaReporters on Channels TV.

He continued: “They have made a clear decision, all of them. They no longer buy imported fuel to also support the local industry, the Dangote Refinery. This is the decision of the Airline Operation of Nigeria, with my push that they should be buying from Dangote Refinery.”

The Nigerian government had announced the commencement of naira transactions for crude oil as directed by President Bola Tinubu.

So an airline operator can go into dangote refinery to buy aviation fuel?

If that's the case, why can't anyone go into dangote refinery and buy I truck of petrol?

Were the airlines importing the aviation fuel by themselves?

Is there a label on the product to distinguish imported from made in Nigeria?

If na me Nko.

It's nearby, cheaper self.

Btw, Keyamo has been silently working as an Aviation minister without any controversy per say even though he used to surround himself with controversies before the election.

Kudos to him. That's stepping up politically

Festus Keyamo is silently doing his job at Aviation Ministry. This remarkable for someone who is not an aviation professional.

Interestingly, when he was appointed, many critics considered him a bit cankerous and chaotic for a highly technical field with proud professionals and stubborn labour associations.

So far, he has proved his critics wrong.

Misleading news.
Airline operators are not fuel importers and distributors.
Keyanmo is claiming credit for market movement he didn't create.

All these useless, masturbatory, motion without movement initiatives. What is our fucking business with whether they buy fuel from Mars or from Pluto? What Nigerians are more concerned about is: would the airlines' decision to patronise Dangote fuel lead to significant reduction in price of domestic air tickets? We don't want to hear emm emm but but. If it wouldn't, then God punish both Keyamo, his master in Aso Rock and the airlines.

I recall what the useless Buhari and his government were telling us then about patronising local farmers bla bla and banning food imports. At the end of the day, Nigerians paid more for local rice and other grains than they would have paid for foreign rice. So what's the point at the end of the day?

lol. but we actually expected more better performance from him, because he used to be a brilliant and fearless critic of various governments in the past, but sadly enough, now that he is in the corridors of power, he is performing far below expectations, and even far below his presumed brilliance .

In this current Nigerian economy of Sen. Tinubu, 1+1 is equal to so many things your brain can not wrap around.

We all had so much expectations about the crashing of fuel price when Dangote refinery commences operations. Instead of the price to crash, fuel price surprisingly even went up.

Now, when you think same will happen for aviation fuel, as marketers have started patronizing Dangote, air fares will still not drop.

Tinubunomics is: the more you try to understand, the more confused you get.

Yet they keep playing hide and seek with petrol.

Government keeps releasing the same statement every week. But the price keeps increasing day by day.

This is how it should be. We need to ease the pressure on naira. Kudos to the aviation minister

Honestly I don't understand this country anymore. Is dangote refinery meant to make life a bit easier or harder. The much anticipated opening has turned to confusion. Personally I don't know what to believe anymore

Nice but Dangote's must have been cheaper and easier to get for them to jettison foreign's because Nigerians prefer anything foreign.
