It would be more balanced if one of Ndidi or Onyeka got benched and Onyedika started. An Onyedika-Onyeka-Iwobi or Onyedika-Ndidi-Iwobi midfield 3 is far more balanced than Onyeka-Ndidi-Iwobi. Onyedika's profile is needed in the 1st and 2nd phases of plays. He will transit our plays better from a deeper role than either Ndidi or Onyeka. So sorry, this is not the most balanced lineup we can have. Doesn't mean we won't win, but it is still imbalanced in some game aspects. Hanibal: 1 Like 2 Shares |

Finidi was the coach. That alone answers it. He didn't know how to properly utilise such a 3-man midfield setup. Ndidi was also off color in that encounter. Wasn't playing with the confidence he has now. Onyedika scored in that game despite coming from deep and transited our plays okay. That alone showed the potential of a midfield 3 with Onyedika. Left to me, it would be Onyedika-Onyeka-Iwobi midfield but again Current Ndidi is high on confidence and does his B2B role well as seen at Leicester. So the Onyedika-Ndidi-Iwobi midfield is still balanced. In the end, let's support the Onyeka-Ndidi-Iwobi setup. Question is who "sits" as the MF Anchor between Ndidi and Onyeka? Seeing as both have the exact same Box-to-Box Profiles. 3 Likes 1 Share |

It is Libya. Physically the Libyans will be no match. I expect that. But you miss his point on ball progression from 1st to 2nd phase of plays before the 3rd phase with the Libyans likely to sit deep. This is what he refers to. If it is ball carrying, trust Onyeka or Ndidi to bomb forward with the ball at intervals. But consistent metronomic ball progression is what is being addressed. kentebemoney: |

kentebemoney:If he was so good in that match as you claimed, nothing would have made the coach to substitute him at half time. Why didn't AE substituted Ademola or Boniface instead of Chukwueze? |

TheSuperNerd:Of course it is not the "most balanced" we can have, but it is the most balanced in a "while" This is way better than having just Ndidi and Iwobi in there And I think we need to reintroduce ourselves to the new Ndidi, he's no longer the destroyer we used to know ( considering his new club role) |

I agree that this 3 man midfield is generally better than the 2 man midfield we have been parading. But note, a 2 man midfield of Onyeka and Iwobi took us to the Afcon final recently. Personnel choices is what determine the balance of a set up. The wrong 3 man midfield choices can be outclassed by a more balanced midfield 2 and vice versa. Hanibal: |

Glad we went with a proper 3 man midfield. Iād like to see Onyedika get more minutes but this formation is a positive development. |
