What he proposed would have been a death knell for the Economy. We would have joined the league of Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Tinubu will be vindicated eventually for taking necessary but difficult decisions avoided by previous administrations. 4 Likes |

Buhari was borrowing mostly to build railways and infrastructure, even then the economy took a hit, but lamba king is proposing that we borrow money and then start using the money to defend the naira. What then happens when the money finishes? Abeg if na this kind man wan be president, make Buhari come back instead; Tinubu's reforms are bold and only few people have the courage to do something like this. ElSudani:

RevDesm0ndJuju: Borrowing money at interest to defend the naira ?
Obi has shown with that statement that he is more interested in sustaining an unsustainable import based economy, since an artificially propped naira will benefit only importers like himself.
How sustainable is this?
How can an import based economy provide jobs and enhance local production ?
Will this not lead to more trade deficit and turn Nigeria to a dumping ground and stifle local industries? And in no due time see to dwindling of FX earnings ?
Someone rightly said here that Obi is not a businessman but a mere trader. He was right.
Another poster here once related how Shagari's govt on the urging of Alex Ekweme liberalised importation in the 80s by lifting the ban on importing certain products produced locally and how that dissatrous policy saw to many local companies struggling.
I have said it here that the SE business model of importation has done a lot of damage to our local industrial base.
This is the same Obi that has been telling us he wants to move Nigeria's economy from consumption to production but here he is now promoting more importation by defending the naira through borrowed FX?
Lol. Talk about the daft one that has tanked everything. |

Ordinary trader masquerading as an economist!
Tinubu is doing the right thing! We can't continue subsidising the exchange rate with money meant for development; subsidisation regime must come to an end.
Electricity, exchange rate, Pilgrimage, and petrol subsidies must go; if government wants to subsidise, it should be basic things like food, education, and shelter 2 Likes 1 Share |

Do you know how much Tinubu has borrowed yet nothing to show for it.if you borrowed to support the Naira, let say exchange rate comes to 800 naira.if you sell crude to Dangote at 800 per$ Pms will be sold at 400 and diesel about 500,kerosene about 500 naira that alone has brought alot of succour to Nigerians. Secondly many manufacturing company will do well and create employment, thirdly you increase tax on imported goods and reduced tax on exportating goods. With this singular act Nigerian problems are solved by 50% |
