Oga.....there was already a telegram service between London and New York in 1865 run by Western Union! There was already 1 million phone lines in New York by 1900................ Nigeria does not want to develop if you ask me.

Nigeria started electricity distribution towards the end of 1800.
What's to argue about that picture?

Who told you that?
Go and read about your country very well.
Everything is not all about politics and tribe.

Onitsha become a recognised major city by the British in 1900.
Was a city around 1800 ending. So what is your problem.

Onitsha was founded 1550.

First obi in mid 16th century.
So what is wrong with that picture.
It is correct if it is from lagos only as only lagos saw development.
Have never see bile minds in Nigeria like some people.
The bile is too nauseating.

They were mining skulls, they were also eating each other ( cannibalism )..

There’s no region that had mined skull more than SE. Go read more about Clifford Orji..

The first electricity utility company started in 1929, there is no way u will start having electric torches in 1930.
Remember 90% of Nigerian homes were mud houses with no electricity.
Also these are the kinds of items found in Nigerian homes in the early 80s, so why will there be stainless steel in the 30s?

But it was stated they were imported goods?

First electricity torch was invented 1898.
Electricity company in Nigeria started 1929, and that that was imported.
Is it that you can't come to terms that that can be seen in onitsha or what?

Is it too big for a small onitsha to have such as at that time?
Not gonna go on meaningless to and fro with you on this one.
Just couldn't stomach the hypocrisy of your posts.

It is not about the city, Onitsha could be a bustling city back then but those items are not 1930s items.
U can't import what people cannot use.
If the company started in 1929, it means that distribution started later years, so by 1930, 99% of Nigerians may have never seen electricty.
In 1930, many Nigerians were still travelling with carriage. Even the Queen traveled on a royal carriage

Also electric torch came to Nigeria early 2000s, we used one kind lantern with glass gloves, in the 90s before battery torches. electric torch was recent.
Also 1930's pictures are not this sharp, the white colours of 1930 pics are tanned
Sorry, you goofed.
There are 1900 pictures even sharper than that one.

Born in the 90’s and still think you can argue about when we were using torchlights? Well, I rest my case.

These children think that we probably used Abacus and did the rain dance for water before they were born.

But the year was clearly stated there, 1937.....so what's your point actually? If Duckworth work was between 1930 to 1972, isn't it obvious this is one of his works too?
LegendHero:
Most of Duckworth work are usually tagged 1930 - 1972

I doubt if that picture up there was taken in the 1930s. Duckworth himself was comer inspection of education in Nigeria between 1930 and 1953.

Some probably just took the photo and slammed a 1937 date on it to mislead the unsuspecting public.
