BlueRayDick: It is weird and wrong, and every single day in Nigeria, we set a precedence that people will use as a standard in the future. The country is already finished. So, no need to wail sef. 1 Like |

BlueRayDick:In Nigeria, all land belongs to the government, bought or not, what landowners have is CofO, which can always be revoked. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 10:28am On Oct 22 |
BlueRayDick: It is actually the law in Nigeria. It is why a lot of multinationals lease. The government can take over any land. Your c of o is like a software license. You do not actually own the land and the government can revoke your license anytime for any reason The catch here is it is state governors that can do this and Abuja is not a state and wike is not a governor. Then again El rufai already established precedent when he ran Abuja |

BlueRayDick:Who are the original owners of magodo? By law all land belongs to the government but logically the government can't take all of them because they can't even develop 5% of the total land mass Winning doesn't mean the government can't take it back if they want |

GloriousGbola: Lol.... Yeah, Dangote has a few blocks and is even planning on exploration of more new fields to secure his refinery. Move wey him for don mount since especially with open secret for years that NNPC or FG uses crude oil swaps for hard cash Forex. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:35am On Oct 22 |
GloriousGbola: This is not always true. I know of several cases that has been won against government as it relates to land allocation. https://lawbreed.blog/supreme-court-rejects-lagos-state-governments-application-in-magodo-land-dispute/ 3 Likes |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:39am On Oct 22 |
iamoyindamola: The Shangisha Landlords Association are the original owners of the landlord and they won the case after 38 years of dispute. You are wrong that the government can take it back of they want. A Supreme Court judgement is final; if government decides to cat against it then their act is illegal. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:56am On Oct 22 |
iamoyindamola: No it can't happen. The defendant in the Case is Lagos state government and not Sanwoolu, Ambode, Tinubu, Jakande or any other past governor of Lagos state. And the judgement is binding on any future governor of Lagos state. Let me give u an example: Environmental sanitation in Lagos state was abolished in Lagos state under Ambode simply because a citizen who was arrested during the environmental sanitation restriction of movement sued the state government. The court ruled that restricting people's movement was breach of fundamental human right which is enshrined into the constitution. The court also ruled that there's actually no law that established environmental sanitation in Lagos state and if such law exists, such law cannot restrict people's movement cos such law will be at variance with the constitution. So Ambode government cancelled the whole environmental sanitation every last Saturday of the month. Now even after Ambode had left, Sanwoolu has not dared to bring it back because if he does, he will be going against the rule of law. The judgment is binding on him and all future governors of the state. It's not as if they can't do it, but it will be an illegality if they do. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Spy360(m): 10:56am On Oct 22 |
BlueRayDick:Normally the individual is supposed to sue. But we all know it would be fruitless until this government passes. A court will reverse it in the next government. This is the kind of rascality we face in this country. |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 11:01am On Oct 22 |
BlueRayDick: But the land was taken from them between 84 and 85,during a military regime, likely outside of proper process. If I recall we discussed a similar case where some dude had his assets seized or destroyed by a military regime and then sued Nigeria decades later and won. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:01am On Oct 22 |
Spy360: Gbam! They will just count their losses under this current government and fight for it much later. Let's just hope it will not be another case where they will seize government assets 10 years after this government leaves |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 11:05am On Oct 22 |
BlueRayDick: First off, what wike has done is likely within the law The man is a thug, but he is a lawyer and his wife is a lawyer. Keep in mind that it does not matter if it is unkind, cruel, unfair, devious - the question is - is it legal? Secondly there is an unresolvable conflict of interest in any case. The judges hearing the case will likely be living in the quarters. So how do you expect them to rule? Yeah this was illegal and we will all exit our quarters right now. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by abduleez1(m): 11:08am On Oct 22 |
BlueRayDick: I watched the video of him saying this thing with splendor and glee yesterday and I dey shake my head. Although, I think there's stipulations for land or developments given to developers that is time bound. If you don't develop it for a stipulated amount of time, you lose the rights to the government and you reapply to regain it. I think its kinda legal. But the way Wike was saying it in public is the problem. He didn't state it with finesse and was nonchalant with the way he constructed his words. 7 Likes 2 Shares |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by abduleez1(m): 11:22am On Oct 22 |
Theflint1: Lol, for where him wan see am?? The one he has I think is about 40,000 bpd. Tho he's planning for other new oil exploration ventures so he can acquire more capacity in the future. Before all these ones bam to significant numbers in the hundreds of thousands BPD go reach 6-10 yrs sef if he can't see where to buy oil blocs. So he's on a long thing and will very much need the inputs of other oil producers. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:23am On Oct 22 |
GloriousGbola: Please read this carefully: A Benin High Court presided over by Honourable Justice Peter Akhihiero, has nullified the revocation of the Certificate of Occupancy of parcels of land at Amagba Village in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State belonging to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, by the state government. https://punchng.com/court-nullifies-revocation-of-ize-iyamus-land-in-edo/ Wike being a trained lawyer and his wife being a judge doesn't guarantee he will act within the ambit of the law. The only point I agree with u is the fact that the judges will definitely be biased in their ruling if Julius Berger ever think of pursuing the case in court |

iamoyindamola: There's security in being paid regularly 12 times in a year. You know when you'll be paid and how much it'd be so you'll plan accordingly. Apart from sickness, another advice that I feel is not trumpeted enough in this period is not to impregnate your woman. I had made the necessary adjustments, cut off unnecessary expenses and was doing fairly okay but wifey unexpectedly got pregnant last year, put to bed in January and since then its been a struggle to keep head above water cos of the extra baby expenses. Anyways. thank God baby is XY. I take solace in the fact we have completed childbearing and the kids are in our preferred 1:2 XX-XY ratio. 4 Likes 1 Share |

BlueRayDick: But from the article it is clear that edo state government did not follow the process for revocation as stipulated in the land use act. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:38am On Oct 22 |
