Listen Ojukwu, no Yoruba man anywhere cares about you people. We do not send you. We don't even mind what you chose to do with yourself. I dare say no Yoruba thinks about y'all enough to hate you. If Igbo man wins in Lagos and Hausa man wins in Osun, while Igbo man won in all of South eastern states then it's easy to see the cheap, unintelligent blackmail. Bro, Yorubas don't care about your existence or even the air you breathe in!
Look, we're Yorubas and education is our watchword, from the days of our founding fathers, because we're positioned with exposure. We learn from and model towards the Whites, rather than staying logged with our bitter neighbours at home. It's this reason you see Yorubas excelling in the White men's land at a ratio astronomical than other tribes around.
My dear, every hate you think Yorubas have for anyone in Nigeria is imaginary. I swear it only exists in your people's mind. In fact, most of us Yorubas still patronize your people (ahead of ours) like we don't care, especially if you sell at a better price than ours for the same thing or it's convenient for us because we don't even see you as rivals–this is rare among non-Yorubas. Our goals is to be great, to go far in life and achieve great things along the White men like Soyinka did, like Tope Awotona did, like Gbenga Agboola, Adebayo Ogunlesi, Eniola Aluko, Tion Wayne, https://www.nairaland.com/6531702/victory-yinka-banjo-gets-19-scholarship, and so on. We are not poised to embroil with some petty lowlifers back home who are comfortable with being local champions and winning little things. Goodluck to una sha. May his soul rest in peace May his Soul RIP, yes, because that is not certain! I wonder the kind of stupidity Nigerians love or the level of revisionism that keep the truth standing upside down! What special thing did Prof Nwosu do in the June 12 elections? Remember, Nigeria was under a military regime at that time and the two contestants were friends of the military - one a Northerner and the second a moneybag friend of the Military leaders! Nwosu was appointed by the military to sit as umpire in a contest between their two choices - could he afford to fool around? Does he need to be a catholic to be honest under such a scenario? Of course he could not read the minds of the organisers of the political game, so could never for his life afford to be partial or offensive. I submit he was kept honest by the circumstances rather than for any personal character or patriotism. There's nothing better than the barrel of the gun to keep even a crook honest! What sci-fi is involved in making the umpire of such a contest remain neutral until ordered to stop? Even after the dust settled it took their Hero Nwosu many years and severe pressure to release the balance of the electoral results! What a brave hero! Under his watch, the acclaimed freest and fairest election was truncated (died intestate), yet some called him Odogwu Lion Heart! Tueh! |

Continue consoling yourself with the myth of Yoruba being the most educated people in Nigeria, that myth ended in 1950 in achebe's words "The origin of the national resentment of the Igbo is as old as Nigeria and quite as complicated. "But it can be summarised thus: The Igbo " being receptive to change, individualistic and highly competitive, gave the Igbo man an unquestioned advantage over his compatriots in securing credentials for advancement in Nigerian colonial society. "Unlike the Hausa/Fulani he was unhindered by a wary religion and unlike the Yoruba unhampered by traditional hierarchies. This kind of creature, not fearing God nor man, was custom-made to grasp the opportunities, such as they were, of the white man's dispensation. And the Igbo did so with both hands. "Although the Yoruba had a huge historical and geographical head-start the Igbo wiped out their handicap in one fantastic burst of energy in the twenty years between 1930 and 1950. "Had the Igbo been a minor ethnic group of a few hundred thousand, their menace might have been easily and quietly contained. But they ran in their millions! Like J.P Clark's fine image of 'ants filing out of the wood' the Igbo moved out of their forest home, scattered and virtually seized the floor. "But this kind of success can carry a deadly penalty: the danger of hubris, overweening pride and thoughtlessness, which invites envy and hatred;" Prof Chinua Achebe |

Righthussle: I hope say him carry the bribes go. Come, I don't know who you're, but I'm a Yoruba man from Oyo State. Professor Humphrey Nwosu was one of the most honest Nigerians that has ever lived. He did all he could in honesty, forthrightness and intellectual ruggedness and dexterity to ensure that the 1993 election was absolutely free and fair. But Babangida had his evil agenda. I wept for this man when Babangida annulled the 1993 election. All his brilliant efforts were just wasted. When he would appear on the telly to speak about preparation for the election, you could almost touch his his honest and passionate desire to conduct the election in a free and fair atmosphere. I never knew he lived up to now. I thought he had died. I loved and still love this man. I fervently hope he died as a true believer in CHRIST. He was one of two Ibomen that stole my heart. The other one is Ebitu Ukiwe . I can almost say that these are the truest Nigerians. Ebitu Ukiwe had an unparalleled passion for the unity of Southern Nigeria. May the LORD bless them in life or death. |
