In another video obtained by 9News Nigeria, the Bolt driver said he was slapped three times and his clothes shredded into pieces just because he asked the lawmaker, Ikwechegh to come out and collect his package. According to him, " I just received three slaps and my clothes shredded into pieces from this man right now who claims to be a House of Reps Member". "I didn't confront him or do anything bad to him. Please, I need help right now," the Bolt Driver said. 9News Nigeria had reported that in the viral video, the lawmaker can be seen slapping the driver multiple times. Later the driver asked him "did you just slap me three times?", which je replied, "twice and you will soon receive the third slap". Also, in the video, Ikwechegh was heard telling the vendor that he can make the driver disappear and nothing will happen. "I can make you disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen. Do you know who I am?". "I am a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I can lock you up in my Generator House and nothing will happen," Ikwechegh said in the viral video. He also said he won't ask the police officers protecting him to beat up the driver but will do it himself. Meanwhile, the action has generated a mixed reaction on the social media. As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach Ikwechegh proved abortive. I don’t support how he slapped the bolt driver! but bolt drivers are the worst despicable drivers on the road, -they are very rude - they are the ones that sexually exploit female riders, -never truthful -Always looking for ways to cheat unsuspecting people When Uber was the only ride app in Nigeria, those were days of descent drivers. Bolt should include etiquette training for their drivers on how to approach their paying clients 56 Likes 12 Shares |

While violence must be unequivocally condemned, we must also avoid hasty judgments. The bolt driver stated that he was struck three times and had his clothes torn to shreds simply for requesting that the lawmaker, Ikwechegh, step outside to collect his package. We must also await a response from the lawmaker to achieve a more balanced understanding of the situation. The lawmaker deserves respect as a prominent figure in this nation, and we must exercise caution in addressing these matters. ![]() 33 Likes 2 Shares |

People and power. Once an average Nigerian has some power, next is to oppress others you feel are beneath you. Any small thing, I’ll lock you up. They’ll involve police. Things that ideally can be solved amicably, but ego and arrogance no go allow. 18 Likes 5 Shares |

From the video posted, there are at least two charges facing the lawmaker: Assault and Battery. If he used any weapon, then add Aggravated Assault to the mix (up to 7 years imprisonment for grievous harm). It is for this reason that too much power must never be ascribed to an individual. There's your lawmaker, in full public glare. Let's see what comes out of this. 33 Likes 4 Shares |

It's hard for me to defend any bolt driver. I have seen a shege in those guys' hands. The first time I was forced to create a topic on this forum, was to express my anger about their unprofessional behaviour. https://www.nairaland.com/5508526/uber-driver At the same time, I can't defend any Nigerian politician or government appointee. Those guys are mannerless and power-drunk! And they know that nobody will hold them accountable for their actions. But then, this is my little submission... As a man, who has been around the Nigerian hustling terrain for many years, there are unfortunate situations that you can turn to your favour. You just have to use wisdom! All this "It's my right, It's my right" won't take you anywhere. A little humility won't take anything away from you. 98% of people who are supporting the bolt driver through their keypads and posts that are about to start flooding our social media space could have handled the matter differently. If you're expecting justice in this matter, maybe you think Nigeria is the US or UK. Wake up! It's an animal farm. 8 Likes |
