Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, on Wednesday, flagged off the construction of multiple road projects totalling 78.85km in Nkanu East and Nkanu West Local Government Areas of the state.

At Amodu in Nkanu West LGA, Mbah performed the symbolic groundbreaking for the 9.30km Amodu-Akpugo Road, 5km Amagu-Atakwu-Akegbe Ugwu-Akpasha Road, and 3.12km Obuofia-Obeagu-Akegbe Ugwu Road totalling 17.32km.

Also, at Nara in Nkanu East LGA, the governor flagged off the construction of the 12.96km Nomeh-Mburubu-Nara Road, 7km Nomeh-Oduma Road, 7.20km Mburubu-Nkereffi Road, 9km Nara-Nkerefi Road, 9.7km Amagunze-Ihuokpara-Ugbawka Road, 8.67km Akpawfu-Akpugo-Amagunze Road with a spur to Umuoma Onicha, and 61.43km Isiogbo Nara-Isu Road, all totaling 61.43km.

Speaking, Mbah said: “In the last few days, we have flagged off about 90km of roads and bridges across these various local governments. Today, we are here to again perform this all-important event of the flag-off. What you see here at this location may just be project signage indicating a few kilometres of road, but in actual terms, we are here to flag off the construction of about 90km of roads in both Nkanu East and Nkanu West.

“What we are about to witness in our various communities is an agricultural renaissance. As you already know, we are setting up farm estates in different wards on a minimum of 200 hectares of land each. The farm estate would ensure that we take our agriculture potential to an industrial scale. So, our growth in agriculture will not just be for food. Agriculture for us will be a serious business and a major force for economic growth.”

The governor assured the people that he looked forward to commissioning the roads in a few months.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Gerald Otiji, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects Development and Implementation, Uchenna Nwatu, assured the people of effective and intensive supervision to ensure quality delivery as demanded by the governor.

I've read too many misleading views on the proposed changes to VAT revenue distribution in Nigeria.

Here's a breakdown of the proposal:

1. FG takes 10% of VAT revenue.

2. States and local govts, incl. FCT, share 90% (55% states, 35% LGs).

3. Of the 90%, 54% (60% of 90%) is by derivation.

4. Derivation means VAT returns to where it was paid by consumers.

5. Not all VAT is by derivation; 36% (40% of 90%) may be based on other parameters like population, equal distribution.

How can this be unfair? Even if a state doesn’t contribute to VAT revenue, they’ll still get a decent share.

Of course, there are many complexities, and that’s why detailed guidelines and lengthy transition period are required.

Nawahoo we are tired of seeing flagging off pls show us the finished one. Overzealous media team. Everyday one flag off. Flag off can turn unfinished but then the hailing, trust and believe has already been gathered from media frenzy. Legacies are placed on finished work and not on starting phase. So Governor and team compile all your flag offs in one post let's see road.

Nigeria tax system is unfair.

Let assume we have two state. A and B.

State A. Have sane population who are productive. Because of their level of education they have 2 or 3 kids and while a hand full of the population refuses to settle down because of fear of the unknown and as they live on budget.

They pay tax and contribute immensely to the development of the country with a monthly IGR of 100 billions and their total population is 10 million.

Majority of this money is used to subsidize electricity and petroleum product for the general public.

While state B. Is the opposite of state A. they have a total population of 60 million, majority are in adject poverty. They contribute 5 billion to the country monthly IGR. They benefits from the electricity and petroleum subsidy.

They also benefits more for the civil and public employment ratio.

Now the country is left with 30 billions after other expense and need to be shared back to the state for projects and development.

State B need the lion share because of her population.

Does that make any sense to you?

It only means people from state A which chose not to have more kids in other to control their budget are now funding the kids of state B which choose to have dozens.

This unbalanced sharing formula can kill productivity and creativity

His dressings and composure alone is enough to draw anybody closer to him. Even if you don't like PDP you will be compelled to like Mbah. He nows what he is doing and is carrying them out quietly, diligently and at a good speed. Not, the Mr know know in Anambra constructing concrete jungle flyover in his LGA, seriously misplacing priorities.
Dualising roads at the expense so many unattended rural and feeder roads. Erosions and so many gullies continue to devastate and causing havocs in so many communities unchecked. We got it totally with this bookish professor. Can't afford to wait any longer to vote in a labour candidate and save ourselves from this human calamity.

Hhh

It only good to build double lanes on places that children don't pass all the time

We thank him for that

But to want to build it in abakpa Nike road is pure evil and wicked

That road is so narrow and small only God knows the number of children that it will take their life's

If he wants land he should buy it and not destroy people's shops because of road.

I share your sentiments, I also think he is taking on too many projects at the same time. This man has about 300 smart schools going on simultaneously in every ward of the state, multiple capital city inner road repairs, all abandoned projects are being worked on now, he has already completed and commissioned the international conference centre abandoned by Chimaroke nearly 16 years ago, now doing the hotel presidential, renovating lots of abandoned state owned companies in every sector, and still doing these rural roads at th4 same time.

At this point, I only hope he can sustain the tempo.

Am proud to say am an Nkanu man Mbah is a true son that is what we are known for we don't betray others I laugh at people when they say Sullivan was better than chimaroke, chimaroke started the foundation on which Sullivan used and became Mr. goodboy chima fought against forces to make Nkanu what it's today.. A very long time ago chimaroke has said one day peter Mbah would lead Enugu state because he saw in him capacity and today he is proving that. God bless chimaroke Ebeano, God bless Peter Mbah and the entire good people of Nkanu land. Long live Enugu state.
