I have a Toyota Camry 2005(automatic), bought the car as Tokunbo in January 2022. Recently decided to do a full body work which made the car spend some weeks at the panel beater/painter shop.
Before then I have been worrying if the gear oil needs changing as I have never changed the gear oil since I bought it.
Yesterday after the car was brought back, I noticed it kicked a little when I put the car in reverse, just a slight kick but changing to Drive or Neutral is smooth. It got me worried if it was normal or the gear was beginning to have issues or do I need to do the oil change?
Pls advice cause having to change gears in this economy is no easy feat.
Is the slight kick something to worry about?
Is it because the car has not been driven for a while that caused the kick ?
Do I need to change gear oil?
You didn’t specify if it’s a v6 or a 4 cylinder. Well you can always check the transmission fluid yourself. It’s right under the air snorkel area. The condition and level would determine if it needs a change. If it getting darker or darker already, it needs a change. ( do note if it has become extremely dark it’s a 50/50 thing

Your expert advice needed please.

You have a damaged gear or engine mount

Leave that gear oil alone unless it has a burnt smell or is getting dark.

Who here knows how much for toyota corolla 2006 model windscreen, please.

A coconut fell and smashed mine at Lagos Convention Center where i parked at the entrance this Saturday. The fact they don't have signs to make drivers aware & outline safe spots to park, is looking like something to sue for.

Lemme know the price first tho.

Sorry ehnn, but me, i can't park my car close to a coconut tree o. I don't even park close to a tree during raining season.

My principles cool

Hi guys.. not too long ago, My friend was involved in a nasty accident that damaged the front badly. He has been fixing it since then and I've been helping put too. I felt the panel beater and mechanic must have sold off some useful part.. please what are those parts you think might have still be useful in an accident but must have been sold off.

Or basically, what are those parts you think I am supposed to ask him for to hand over to me.

PS: They claimed AC system was totally destroyed too. I'll appreciate if you can list all I'm supposed to retrieve.

I don't mind sending like 5k to anyone that can help me list them

Picture 1 is a picture of the accident.

Picture 2 shows the repair.

Parts that wpuld get damaged...the frame ,ehich is the strongest part of the chasis, usually infront , ehind bumper, both front and back,it has a white foam.....the radiator, condenser, alternator, fog lights, wiring fan belts, adjuster,if hes lucky no damage to the aluminium engine, brain box, maybe damaged shocks, bushings, fenders, bonet, grille, tyres.best advice..sell as scrap. I sold an accidented crv 2011 model for 1m in 2019...accidented up to windshield level. No engine damage...sell it as scrap.it can never remain the same.naija no be asia

Ommoo!! shocked shocked
If he sells this car as scrap, that means 90% of the so-called "Direct Toks" should be deported back to the origin country because that's how most dealers purchase them. Otherwise, I doubt if we will be able to purchase these cars in Nigeria if they all came with Clean Title from abroad.
This accident is not even severe at all, it is like 3/10. It is only looking horrible like that because that's exactly how the car was designed to absorb impact. That whole frontal area is called the crumple zone. Being that the impact does not seem to have been severe enough to push the engine into the firewall, I doubt if this car will have any other long-term drivability concerns after the repair is completed.

From the second picture, I can the that the OP only needs a fog lamp and complete painting of the bonnet, 2 fenders and bumper. That's about it shouldn't even cost more than 100k to fix this cosmetically. What will really cost money is replacing mechanical components like radiator, condenser, cooling fan + shroud+ expansion tank/coolant reservoir, the bent frontal crash beam, the foam(which is not compulsory), the radiator core support. For the bonnet to be looking really well lapped, I can tell that restoration of the frame members was done satisfactorily.

He has already had the accident, let's not give him hypertension bikonu

My car, a Lexus ES 350 2010 model is due for service and the Mobil engine oil I normally use is unavailable in my location at the moment. Now, I am considering getting a different one (also Mobil) and wish to know if there's any disadvantages in changing/switching it.

I attached the images of both engine oils below. The first one is what I have been using since December 2023, and the second one is what I am considering.

Please I need honest opinions on this.

Thank you!

Also, is Dru23 a reliable vendor? Are is products genuine and shipped directly from the US as he claims?

Yup Dru23 is genuine.

I got these items from him, everything was smooth

And also, do you know a good mechanic in Ilorin?

I don't want to go to all these random kazeems that causes More harm than good.

I was not condemning your comment, rather talking against reason for that high price. Most of those seller also repair damage fan and resell as high as you quoted.

Surely your car went through abuse while away but that's a discussion for another day.
How many miles have you driven on the car since purchase. Normally oil gear oil is recommended after 40k miles.
As u may not know this, check oil levels and smell plus dark colour which signs... if present might not be too good.

Kindly inform your friend that the consequence of tap welding of chain adjuster may lead to another problem as time move on and the cost will weigh more on your friend.

My 2016 toyota highlander car Ac had issues and the AC technician replaced some parts and forgot to clip the radiator hose. My car overheated on the high way and it started complaining of Camshaft timing after scan.
Camshaft changed two different times and it didn't work out.
the stupid mechanic removed the engine metal claiming it is the culprit making the grinding sound on cold start and the grinding sound still persist on cold start though car engine is running fine but camshaft check light is on.

Should I plan on buying a new engine since the metal had been replaced? though the mechanic said he replaced with original metal.

Please my Boss GAZZUZZ, Kingreign and others I need advice πŸ™
