When did food turn luxury items that it determines if people are living a fake life or not sad grin

I don’t understand this thing oo

Food has never been a luxury item in Nigeria even in the rough times, only the choice of food. It's only recently I'm hearing of hunger being a thing

In 1990s families that couldn't afford rice and meat anymore ate beans everyday. Our next door neighbours were known for beans everyday but their belly was always full. Also population was lower and you could always augment your food by plucking fruits - mangos and almonds especially

In our area, you can always pick crab and periwinkles for protein.

The poorest person I knew growing up was my great great aunty. When we visit the village and do our rounds to greet everyone, we hated stopping by her hut because she will force you to eat boiled yam and palm oil. Morning, Afternoon and Evening she ate yam and palm oil, that's all she could afford. I am guessing she grew the yam and bought the palm oil, but her belly was always full and she could always augment with crabs and periwinkles by walking down to the riverside

Where did I say food is a luxury item? Can you quote it? You just have to add maggi to what I said to make it taste better to those you are pandering to

You don talk this your auntie story before and it is true for many people growing up.

Polished Rice(Uncle Bens) wasn't a daily food, it was usually for Sundays and Festivities. There were substitutes that people ate daily

The yam you said your relative you considered poor then isn’t even affordable now, there is no difference between between food now, all are luxury even the least desirable amongst them.

All I’m saying is Nigeria is a sad state cause food shouldn’t be a thing of luxury, even foods that are affordable some years back are now considered luxury and there should be no justification for that

I know. Yam has never been cheap, but village people somehow used to consume it a lot back then because they grow it themselves

Whatever you earn today there are people in Nigeria who earn 10% of it and they eat, some of them have kids and they are going to school.

I’m not disputing that,
Now compare the prices of the food items and see if they eat like they do before? The prices of food has skyrocket and people don’t find it easy at all cause some of their children has stopped going to school so they could eat.

It seems you don’t understand what people are going through

People have always gone through tough times especially in a poor country like Nigeria. When the country was living based on subsidy mainly and not on reality after a while the bubble will bust.

If this Tinubu administration is a reality check then it’s a sad one cause companies are declaring loss, laying off staff cause of operating cost, hyperinflation.

Is this reality check supposed to cause mayhem to the economy cause there’s no hope in sight, he remove subsidy and there’s no plan to rejuvenate the economy just sharing rice at any little slight of inconvenience

The bubble has finally busted and there’s no hope in sight babami

Subsidy that was funded by debt, We have borrowed to the limit and our creditors are not picking our calls anymore. So what is the way forward? To keep subsidy that we cannot afford?

Why single out obi?
You subtly had to add his name like the rest of u.
Nobody from your tribe ate and dined with abacha at all.

Don't wanna go into the argument if obi actually dined with abacha. Just tired of where you guys has dragged Nigeria to due to tribalism.

It's ridiculous trying not to go tribal here but you guys are champion. I give it to you all.

Tribalism has really blessed Nigeria do well that the world is copying us.

Is that the way we insinuate things now? Can I also insinuate that by opposing Tinubu = You saying killing people is okay?

I posted Obi and Al Mustapha but you only saw Obi. Yet you are the one calling someone a tribalist? Why leave out Al Mustapha? Maybe you are the tribalist here

Obi proudly announced he ate from Abacha, So why cant we repeat the claim he made without being forced. Where did we drag Nigeria ? Like Obi the chief tribalist was not one of those who dragged Nigeria into whatever
Just a week ago, Obi went on a podcast and his main lamentation was about Yoruba

What a disgusting piece of shitt that Obi is. That is why he will never rule the country

I have transfered my hands from from waist to my head, I am now wailing uncontrollably in the streets like a lunatic
