CAFWCL: Edo Queens, FC Masar Share Spoils

Edo Queens and FC Masar played out a goalless draw in Wednesday’s Group B clash at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.

A win for either side could have seen them put one foot into the semi-finals of the competition.

High in confidence following their impressive 1-0 win over defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, FC Masar were hoping to carry on from their momentum.

Equally so, Edo Queens who cruised past Central Bank of Ethiopia by 3-0 were hoping to build on the impressive performance.

Despite the numerous chances created, neither of the two debutants could break the deadlock, with both goalkeepers and set of defenders being on high alert throughout the tense encounter.

The result sees Queens maintain their lead at the top of Group B with four points, with Masar just behind them on the same number of points.

Edo Queens will take on Sundowns in their last group game on Saturday.

Now, this is where it gets very dicey for the girls;Memlodi girls present stiffer opposition. Edo Queen must not lose their next game against the South African girls;it might cost them qualification if they do. They must at least get a draw in that game as five points will be enough for them to progress. The Egyptian girls have the brightest chance to qualify as they are very likely to defeat the Ethiopian girls - CBE.

I watch the match our girls waste passes too much and set pieces! Even supper engles are still doing these the same mistakes!, football Is like a school not just running on the field.

No tactical discipline. It was kick and follow football.

There should be a clear cut strategy. Attack from defense and stray passes to the wings to connect with attackers. But this wasn't so. The Maser FC team showed semblance how a team attacks and finish up. Flowing football.

Let the coaches work on the wing display.

They cannot afford to lose because Maser FC would beat hapless Ethiopians. Therefore, they should not lose the match. At least, a draw will take them through.
