There is nothing like double standards, I don't see countries such as Mexico and Canada wishing to sour their rlationships with the US in fact even Cuba currently wishes to draw closer to the US unlike Russia who's neighbours are all rushing to join NATO for protection against what happened to Chechnya, Georgia and now Ukraine. That is the difference between the two countries.

I've not seen where Mexico and Cuba want to improve relations with US . Not when US attempted to kill Fidel Castro for thousands of time or when they call them Communist.

The sad truth is that Putin can't defeat the U.S led NATO because of their large supporting members. The U.S have nukes and could intensify the war but they chose not because of the number of lives that would be at stake. You could see that Russia are struggling to defeat Ukraine.
