Really? So what did you do about the driver who drove my wife's car until 2 a.m., even though he dropped your Indian guests by 8 p.m. the previous day?

Sometimes, you need to be firm and uncompromising when running a business; otherwise, people will take advantage of you and deceive you. It’s just how things often work here in Nigeria.

That’s one of the reasons why 60% of SMEs shut down within their first two years.

There’s a lot you could have learned from me, but your personality and mental state are holding you back.

Bro, be calming down.

I wasn't aware of the driver driving your wife's car till 2am, some people are shady truly and that driver you were referring to, I later laid him off when I got information he was using my Ford to run around at night after you collected your corolla back..

Do you think that guy is still working with me, I understand some people aren't honest and the moment I learn and have evidence against their dishonesty is when I can validly react, I can't doubt you at first when you haven't proven to me to be doubtful, I always trust people at my first engagement with them until I see reason not to trust them anymore...

The only issue I had with you was, despite my openess with you, you still always threaten me with your lawyer, if you understand someone's nature and build trust with the person, you shouldn't be bothered about those things you were bothered about with me....

The guys I got after I laid off the 2 guys that were working with me are reasonable people, I have had no issues with them since they have been working with me, if they have any issue with officers on the road, I don't doubt that coz they have built that trust to that extent with me...

Infact, if I become a billionaire tomorrow through him, it doesn't mean I will cover up his other side of attitude...

You can call someone out without being abusive and insulting.
Ta, u get integrity? If they give u small change now, u go roll for ground.

Now you see my perspective. If you take a moment to calm down, think, and put yourself in the shoes of a business owner with open mind and not being bias, you'll understand the reasoning behind my firm stance.

The real question is: as a business owner, how would you address this behavior from other drivers? What measures will you put in place to prevent things like this from happening.

If you can answer this honestly, you'll grasp why I hold I try to be firm and remove sentiment from business

Note:It was this incident that made me change my mind about the Indian business, and also the fact that there was no insurance policy put in place if anything happened to the vehicle.

The risk was too much

I asked Damian if he actually want to do this, he pushed me, calling someone hater and bitter, was it called for?

You're correcting me for being abusive and insulting forgetting its Damian that started the whole thing...

See, you can't change some things, it's just like asking how can someone prevent death, its not possible..

The only thing possible is to ensure you put some things in place, I believe there was a way you knew someone was driving the car till 2am, tracking your car is a form of having security over your car, if you employed someone, you can't start to mistrust the person when you haven't had experience with the person, you give the person chance until he/she proves untrustworthy...

You can't avoid something, give them a chance until they prove they are untrustworthy, if you're having that mindset that everyone is the same, you won't be able to do business or employ anybody cox you will keep believing everyone is out there to take advantage. I believe to some extent you trust yourself and I believe you have worked for people, you were once an employee, imagine your employer having doubts you may take advantage of him employing you when you haven't done anything for him to have that thought...

Life isn't hard honestly...

I only pointed out that your face isn't perfect, just as I would tell anyone else who makes the kind of remarks you made about Pearl and his innocent lineage. None of us are perfect—neither am I, nor Pearl, nor Jacksonfire.

Hate stems from the way you speak to people. After all the insults you've directed at me over the past three days, can you honestly say you love me?

Being bitter means holding on to negativity and past experiences, and every chance you get, you let that negativity spill out—which is exactly what you've been doing for the past three days.

As you can see, most of my statements are not insults.

In business, we practice risk management by evaluating potential loopholes and making every effort to close them. If you don't, others may exploit them and drive you to bankruptcy.

If you're honest with yourself, you'll see I wasn't tough on you. The payment terms were reasonable, the total package was fair and achievable. Yes, there were times you missed payments, and you were also engaged in other ventures during our agreement.

Now, I was tough on Eric, and I admit that. Being new to the business, I was cautious and didn’t want anyone to take advantage of me. But he completed the business, and we moved forward. He was incredibly mature—the most mature person I've ever worked with in this business.

You can be tough, but you still have to be reasonable, when you want to venture into any business you won't be managing yourself, you have to think of every possibility loopholes, then put some things in place to tackle those loopholes, the moment you sense the person is trying to exploit the loopholes, you refer back what you have put in place to counter it....

Honestly, it is the employers duty to first put trust in his employees, coz your employees are also your ladder to the top, if you can't trust them, why work with them?

Before the conversation about Pearl, you had already been making insulting comments about his earnings, calling him a liar and many Nairalanders were bashing him as well. I recall saying that drivers shouldn’t compare their earnings with others, as circumstances differ from case to case.

All I did was advise Pearl not to feel the need to prove himself to anyone because it only leads to more criticism. This isn’t the first time he’s posted, yet he keeps getting insulted.

Jackson has been insulting the man without reason, but somehow, you made it all about yourself.

I don’t have any issues with you. Our deal ended with both of us achieving what we wanted. Everything else I did was simply to ensure you complied with and stuck to the business agreement.

To be honest, I don’t want to keep dragging this conversation—three days of back-and-forth isn’t easy.

As you always say, life nor suppose hard;it's just unfortunate you don't understand my kind if person till now.

How does one build trust? Isn’t it something that develops over time?

You weren’t completely honest about our business dealings. If you were, you’d understand that our first year was filled with ups and downs. We didn’t know each other personally when I handed the keys to you, just as you didn’t know me either. The only connection we had was that you sold my first car to me.

By the second year, I became much more open with you. I allowed you to take the vehicle outside Lagos, gave you the freedom to pursue the Indian business, and even encouraged you. When you skipped payments, I sometimes let it slide. I offered you more flexibility, which gave you time to focus on other ventures.
