Look at these jokers. There will always be a price differential, you re dealing with 2 diffrent countries. Hiking the price wont reduce smuggling.

why are they concerned about the movement of unsubsidized fuel across the border? that should qualify as forex esrning the country forex, except someone is telling a lie somewhere

Since it is been smuggled let's increase the Price to stop snuggling, this is the typical Nigerian Government reasoning

Aligning fuel prices with neighboring countries is the most effective way to stop smuggling and economic drain for a country like Nigeria

# Our neighboring country currency are better than Nigeria money 🤑🤑

# Before When naira is at #700 to 1 dollars #200 to 1 dollars, we all went to cotonu to my cheap cars and clothes and resell in Nigeria to make profit.
#So it's the turn of our neighboring to buy cheaper fuel from Nigeria and resell to make profit in their country.
💥💥💥 Since Nigeria Government like to devalue our currency to reduce our purchasing power in other to obtain loans from IMF and world bank

Now this is business, so far Nigerian tax payers money is not involved in the scheme to enrich the few or fund other countries energy consumption.

What's the essence of this article now?they have been smuggling this product to other neighboring countries since time immemorial.its when u pple keep hammering on it,that TPAIN now uses it has an excuse to increased the pump price to an exorbitant rate claiming no more subsidy, that he can't be subsidizing other countries when in actual world it's Nigerians that's benefiting more with the subsidy.
Re: Petrol: 58% Price Difference Fuels Smuggling To Neighbouring Countries by obatreasure: 11:27am On Nov 25, 2024
We all know that neighboring countries depend on Nigeria for survival. if you increase the price of fuel in Nigeria to 5000 today the prize in neighboring countries would also go up to like 6000, likewise if you reduce the prize to 200, you see the prize drop to like 300 there too. So, they should stop this nonsense of smuggler making money. if Dangote start exporting to neighboring countries now all these talks of smugglers making huge money would stop

So Tinubu can't control our custom services?

This is just another story to justify price increase.

Why is this happening despite more than 10 times increase in fuel price since we swapped corrupt PDP capitalists for the incorruptible saints of APC progressives and socialists

Should we also impose capital punishment on politicians who smuggle themselves into office through fake promises

Deltafirstson:
Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.

In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.

However, pump price of fuel hit N537 per litre days after Tinubu ended subsidy.

On Tuesday, the price climbed further to N617, a development that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) attributed to “market forces”.

Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.

Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.

At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, a Fuji musician who performed at the rally, interrupted the president’s speech with chants as the crowd cheered.

On the campaign podium with the president were Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Pa Bisi Akande, interim National Chairman of the APC; Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Senator Gbenga Daniel; among other bigwigs of the ruling party.

Tinubu went further to say Nigerians would defy the acute fuel scarcity at the time and trek to cast their votes.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200/N500 per litre. Go and relax, we will crash the prices,” he had said.

Turn this shi to a coperate business venture. There is a demand outside Nigeria. I would have continued, but where are the infrastructure to gaurantee such ventures. We are talking of advanced gas pipelines similar to how Europe gets its supply from Russia.

They should not use this as an excuse to increase fuel price again if they don't want to worsen people's suffering.

That is the effect of removing fuel subsidy and floating /devaluation of naira so that it will be easy to get foreign loans. These floating made naira to have lower value than currencies of neighbouring countries including Togo ,Ghana etc.
That is why foodstuffs and lpetroleum products are smuggled out of the country.

The govt. should sack and jail corrupt security agents rather than increase fuel price.

The prices of petrol in Benin republic is inversely proportional to the international crude oil prices and not related to price in Nigeria. As long as naira is weaker than cfa, our prices will always be cheaper than the prices in Benin republic, not just petrol alone, but all other commodities.

Christmas don reach the government through their mouth piece and spies have started re-spreading their propaganda before to look for ways to increase fuel price.
When they want to do demonic comparisons they speak this trashes saying Nigeria has one of the lowest prices of fuel.
But when it comes to paying living wage you'll hear inflation and they will not compare again. The next thing you'll hear them say is that civil servants don't work.
But imagine those who gave been ministers of petroleum from 1999 till date could not make the four refineries to work but there have always collected money for point of no return journey of TAM.

I'm emphasizing enforcement of the law. There are myriads of laws against smuggling but what has it done to stop it? Enforcement and punishment of culprits will go a long way. If the FG is serious about fishing out complicit officers, it's a done deal. But they're enjoying the returns so it's business as usual.
