So I got this Tuya DC meter to test out it's functions. I'd been angry with dem Chinese for not thinking out a way to make a DC meter that works on Tuya platform despite the numerous smart add-ons that they have on that platform. . I present to you, the Tuya Smart DC meter. Second and fourth pictures are screenshots of some of the functions as it is on my mobile. Even though with felicity hybrid I use, I can have some online monitoring capacity. But this Tuya meter appears to pack some punches. 3 Likes 1 Share

bsideangel: From my own experience, dust is doing a serious number on panels during the dry season especially if you are in a place where there is untarred section of a busy road. Once before, dust build-up on the panels have reduced charging output by as much as 30%. Then there is this issue of hot sun in dry season, at temperatures which exceed the optimum operating temperature of those panels. À well ventilated panel (on the underside) installation can help mitigate that heat-indicted drop in capacity 2 Likes |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbZiHzflKMY?si=CI6ou-19AO3kEnIs Your LFP doesnt mind being charged to full. Li-ion may have that issue though cos I recall my Samsung phone has a battery protect setting to limit charging to 85%. With that, the charging will never reach 100% full, only stops at 85%. I know Li-ion is used in cell phones. ask4bk: 1 Like |

Xanderone:The man in that video has been debunked as false. If you knew the charging curve of LFP you won't say this. When charging from 3.39v sef to 3.65 is sharp upward line that could take only 3 minutes to attain. When discharging, LFP takes same quick time to move from 3.65 to 3.37 then begins an almost straight but long curve to 2.6 or below. Keeping charge at 3.65v you are not only producing heat but putting it at the high threshold and risking overcharging errors. It's good to keep it far from 3.65v to be save from charger errors, and for LFP, be it 3.4v or 3.65v, it won't take 5 minutes to return it's sitting voltage of 3.31-3.37 |

That lead acid battery is the problem. Buy 12v 100a Lifepo4 battery from valto to replace that. Incase the inverter doesn't av an inbuilt AC n DC breaker, get d 2 n put it d DC between battery and inverter n AC between Ur inverter output n the change over. imatejammer: |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ask4bk(m): 5:13pm On Nov 28, 2024 |
Dam5reey1: You are definitely not using the battery. Left unused LFP will stay at 3.6v for months if you charge it to that. Lithium doesn't leak voltage like lead batteries. But if you have it on load (without charging), there's no way it'll stay in 3.6v for a long time. It'll quickly go to it's sitting voltage below 3.4v. That's just how they work. |

Hello guys, good evening. Can anyone tell me about SMS hybrid inverter in terms of durability and performance? I am planning to get a 10.2kva sms transformerless hybrid inverter to replace my older inverter that got damaged. Also, I heard that transformer based inverters are better than transformerless inverters. Also, is there any need for me to add another mppt charge controller to an hybrid inverter that already has a 160A mppt controller? The installer was telling me that I should still get a separate charge controller for it… Please Nairaland inverter profs, I need your urgent response. Finally, apart from Felicity brand, which other inverter brands are reliable and durable and affordable? Thank you. |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Tucode: 8:34pm On Nov 28, 2024 |
brightk: Okay. The system was installed in first week of August this year. By first week of September, the charge controller had gotten bad. The charge controller would not read (the watts and amps will be showing 0.00) but the battery will be charging. It’s a 15kwh Felicity lithium battery. The charge controller is also felicity. So the installer took the charge controller to the company to repair. He brought it back 3 weeks later. After 5 days, the charge the issue resurfaced. The controller won’t read anything but the battery will charge (although it charges slower than it normally does with the controller ). We kept using the system like that while waiting for the installer to return the charge controller. Then two Sundays ago, we got back from church and smelled something burning, we went to check and it was the inverter (10kva felicity non hybrid inverter). The installer came to remove everything and took it back to the company and they said the inverter was burnt. I have never loaded beyond 28% on the inverter since we got it. That’s what happened. I don’t know how manage it happened. |

Tucode: the same thing would happen if you buy another set of equipment... there seems to be a connection problem here.. An inverter doesnt get burnt in a hurry.. something must have triggered it.. if i may ask do you have enough protection attached to these devices.. How are we sure those equipments are original esp the felecity charge controller.. As for the lithium battery i have never used felecity but since you do, do you have a way of monitoring what goes in and out of the battery.. and your panels, what brands and how are they connected( ![]() i think you may need another installer.. maybe you can snap the remaining skeletal structure.....lets have a look esp the protection part.. Also state your location maybe someone here can come have a look 2 Likes 1 Share |

@tucode follow @brightk suggestion. Inverter does not just burn . I know. I once used one 1.5kva Luminous inverter for 8 years. Crazy thing inverter is still in service, no longer with me though. If all connections are ok and house does not have a wiring problem, then inverter should not go bad, especially without thunderstorms as we are in dry season. 1 Like |
