ogododo: I know things are bad, but which kine exaggeration is this. How can OP say fuel is "astonishly" cheaper in Atlanta when as he said, fuel is equivalent of 1,100 per liter in Atlanta and I bought fuel yesterday at a regular filling station in Lagos for 1,078 Naira per liter. |

Izuchukwu70: If he used California to compare, he’ll also have to use California minimum wage to do the calculations. Which will still come out to similar numbers. He used minimum wage of around 7 dollars to calculate it. The lowest dirt paid Californian makes 3x that. You must not know how percentages work. Are you happy paying that exorbitantly for petrol? Why defend the indefensible 4 Likes |

ogododo: Idiut ni man yi o. First I don’t know where in “metro Atlanta” he is buying his gas from. Must be a dangerous neighborhood. Secondly does he realize that we were subsidizing petrol for the entire West Africa region? What nation can afford that? When monkeys like Kperogi take one commodity and links it to minimum wages just to try and prove a lame point you should also ask him how much an apartment costs to rent in “metro Atlanta “ and compare it to Nigeria. Ask him how much one plantain, one mango, one corn etc costs and compare to Nigeria. In my Atlanta neighborhood by the way, gasoline sells at around $3.90 and a single bedroom apartment goes for around $1400 per month. Now go compare that to Nigeria using the same minimum range. So dumb an article. 2 Likes |

nairalanda1 For the record, Georgia budget was 38 billion dollars for 11 million people Nigeria has about 200 million people. Our budget is 30 billion dollars or less. And Kperogi expects that we can afford subsides on that amount? Plus fuel consumption in Georgia is probably less than in Nigeria. These people comparing price of petrol between Atlanta and Nigeria are something else. I hope they understand that the same petrol is sold here in California for $4.77. 1 Like 1 Share |

Thunderfayamods: Well if he uses those expensive states to compare, he will also have to use their minimum wage to calculate which is far more than the minimum wage he used to calculate. There’s no way around this topic except that Tinubu has caused an insane increase of petrol that’s far more expensive than other countries pay. And you’re right the petrol price in America fluctuates. It can go up and down. But it seems in Nigeria it only goes up. Does it go down after spikes like these? I’m not sure but educate me if I’m wrong. 2 Likes |

First and foremost, fuel has 3 different grades or types in America-Regular,Middle and Premium and the prices for each grades are different. The difference could be up to 1 dollar higher between the regular and premium. So when you say you bought fuel at $2.70 what grade did you buy?For emphasis, luxury cars like benz,BMW,lexus only use premium fuel.In Nigeria, they sell only premium fuel as such distinction in grades of fuel does not exist.Fuel is not cheaper in US than in Nigeria. To compare minimum wage in US with Nigeria is like comparing apples with oranges because the cost of living is not the same.Lastly,America is also currently battling with high inflation as cost of groceries, fuel and housing is off the roof. 1 Like |

Comparing Nigeria, a struggling 3rd World country's economic statistics with that of the US, a highly developed 1st World Superpower, can be termed the exhibition of ambivalent national hatred at its worst. The writer needs to cure himself of this. |

Ayoefa: Walahi youbare not a sensible person at all. You even sound more foolish in trying to justify the BA the government is doing. The write of this write is clearly trying to tell you that IMF telling Nigeria to remove subsidies is actually being wicked to the masses, because the US still subsidizes fuel albeit at state level. 1 Like |
