I don't have all the details of the tax reform bill, but from the little I've read, if this scales, it would be the best legacy the Tinubu-led government will be leaving. There are too many docile states in Nigeria leaching off of others. At least this will get them to sit up, prioritize governance and improve their economies. 1 Like |

aribisala0:. water is not an issue in the north as they have Rivers , lakes and streams Again the water table beneath is closer to the surface in the north than most of the southern Nigeria . Having more rainfall is different from having access to body of water. Eg Enugu experience more rainfall than most if not all northern states but remains the driest state in the country with no river or major body of water just small lakes and tiny streams with water table miles beneath and thereby making it impossible to sink boreholes successfully . So it is not about rain but ability to retain water. 1 Like 1 Share |

Lanretoye: Islam does not regard smoking as Haram.. get your facts right more cigarettes are consumed in the north than any part of the country as most people smoke there due to abstinence from alcohol. If all these are about tobacco, then north will generate more revenue than others. Ask those who work in tobacco company their biggest costumers |

Objectivist04: Why are you arguing foolishly I said there is more water in the south is that true or false? So why the irrelevant talk I don't know why people insist on being stupid Do they have more rivers per square kilometre? Ability to retain water so why do they bring animals to the south to feed If you read my post clearly I was saying we neglect the sector If we prioritise it we can produce more cows in the south Even now there are already thousands of Fulani cows here If we industrialise it they cannot produce more cows than in the whole North than Cross River and Akwa Ibom Already from now they run to the South with their cows till May 2 Likes 2 Shares |

emmyN: Come Enugu and see how well dries just few days after rain stops. North have body of water like rivers streams lakes etc, and that is every part of north . . again it is easy to sink boreholes and get water in the north than some parts of the south. . What North doesn't have is ocean and I don't think animals drink ocean water. 2 Likes 1 Share |

RecessionistPMB: Yeah, this is one grey area I noticed in the bill. The biggest beneficiary would be Lagos because they generate the most tax. The oil-producing state of the south-south need to diversify their economies. You would be surprised the amount of money that would be realized if they plugged all leakages and appropriate funds to their rightful channels. The 13% derivation they get presently is grossly underutilized, most finding their ways into private pockets. Also, the reps from the south-south region are sitting ducks. They don't speak up for their regions. I remember a time when oil corporations were mandated to site their headquarters in the region they generate their revenues. This was never followed through. So you see, Lagos is benefitting from what could have been accrued to the south. The bill is a wakeup call. All hands must be on deck. 1 Like 1 Share |

Objectivist04:Most of the dry fishes we eat in the south come from the North? That is baseless Can you give facts and figures Not just wake up and start talkng like an idiot Your father is dull How many tonnes? What is the source Already a large amount of cattle is produced in the south TODAY Yes it is by herdsmen But they are still produced in the south Honestly you are stupid How does vegetation grow without water? Did I say they come here to drink water I said We can produce cattle more efficiently in the south because we have more water and so can produce animal feed in greater quantities for many more months because we have more rain |

Enugu state is atypical example, full of vegetation but you can hardly see a water body . That is why you will drive from enugu/benue boundary donwn to Oji river, a journey of more than 100km without crossing a single bridge [quote author=beejay85 post=133120319] How can you have more grass and have less water ? beejay85:. Enugu state is a typical example, very lush in vegetation but no body of water even underneath water is very far from the surface. You can drive more than 100km in enugu without crossing even a canal . That is not possible in the north. |

Objectivist04:when agriculture is industrial Those with more rainfall can use technology to enhance the use of water The reason that might not be happening in Enugu is a knowledge deficit and also misplaced priority Your claim about Gombe and Ekiti is simply rubbish Gombe state has the. LOWEST RAINFALL LOWEST IN NIGERIA Just shut up |

emmyN: South will have more if Atlantic ocean is included . Oga 80% of River Niger and the entire River Benue which are the two major rivers in Nigeria lies in the north with their tributaries. South is more compact and that is why it appears as if it has more water body . I just gave you an example of Enugu state that doesn't have a single water body . |

Objectivist04: Dude, your statement is not backed by fact. There are more water bodies in the south, more rivers, wetlands and lakes. The north has no comparison in this. So it's either you don't have all the information or you're being deliberately mischievous. From your education, you could do some simple internet search. You're welcome! |
Re: Tax Reform Bills Must Not Benefit Few States, Penalise Others –Atiku by Objectivist04: 8:22pm On Dec 01 |
aribisala0: Is like you inherited dullness from your father. Why are you trying to change the crust of this to and fro argument. You said that that herdsmen come to south because of grass and water but I am trying to tell you that they come because of grass not water because they have enough water up north but your dull brain can still not comprehend. North has more fresh water than the south and that is a fact. Apart from lagos and Ondo , which other state in south west have a big river ? Can you compare osun river with river Kaduna ? Which river in Oyo can you compare with river Hadejia ? In south east only anambra has large water body , south south is the only region that have significant water body in all the states except Edo I have lived in taraba state and I know about river ibi, river manya and river donga which ferries big badges . Yes most of the fish consumed in the south comes from the north, Bama in Bornu state has the biggest fish market in Nigeria until Boko Haram menance with up to 10 trucks loading fish on daily basis and distributing to different parts of the country. If you find it difficult to comprehend me , ask someone to explain for you 1 Like |
