It only benefits Lagos. Lagos VAT just like oil money is our national cake n should be shared by all. Lagos, oyo, ogun states are known for high VAT generation... But they can't keep the money to themselves alone. We need it to be evenly distributed to carry everyone along. |

North east and south east will fight this bill to a stand still. Two unproductive regions leeching off everyone else. North east will shamelessly be demanding the cancellation of the bill while the south east will send minions to defend the north east online because they are ashamed of admitting they are leeches offline. Check this thread, you will see those defending zulum re south Easterners. Two parasites supporting each other. 5 Likes |

Please, does anyone think that the governor is saying the truth concerning the proposed tax reform bills? Is it also true that only Lagos state will benefit from the tax reform bills? You destroy beer parlour shops in the North calling it haram and burn down betting shops and yet you are keen on partaking in its money sharing coming from the south. This is absolute nonsense. 11 Likes |

Frigga13: Lol common sense is very uncommon. This one go school like this? Did you ask why only the North is crying like a baby? Before we can take them seriously we need to hear the opinions of people like Soludo, Sanusi, Okonjo Iweala etc on this before we should take any stand. This is purely a policy that needs to be ratified by the economic and tax experts. It’s not just about reading it in a piece of paper. If these people that I mentioned above know that something is wrong with the bills and they are not talking then they are the real enemies of the country. However, North has been living on the resources of the country for long. They don’t pay taxes they don’t pay for electricity all the fertilizers, farm inputs and incentives including loans and grants are awarded to them without merits. They need to regulate things in this country properly but has to come with clean intent capable enough to place the country on a pedestal of greatness and also serve as a model for other African countries...Thus will place the implementer as a god 7 Likes 1 Share |

kunle4toyeyaho:Finally met someone that knows why they are fighting. They are not fighting for the rate that will affect the masses, but fighting over the tax administration. Most states won't pay above the minimum wage even if they agree on paper, some have crazy system in place that prevents business growth and development, this two factors mean so many will be tax exempt, making the state earn less. States can now generate power, they should ensure power supply improve in their state, give your state good roads, work on insecurity, businesses will grow, you will generate more so salary of govt workers can increase, then you have something to tax. There are so many ways to kill a bird, the restructuring we yearn for is here. 8 Likes 1 Share |

I thot they said this guy was smart? NO HE IS DUMB The north is against the tax bill simply because of the clause that said VAT of each state will only benefit the state.. They destroy alcohol in the North yet share VAT accrued from alcohol. Thats their main headache. Selfish peeps. Imagine robbing Peter to pay Paul. NEVER. 6 Likes |

I detest this back and forth over this tax reform issue. Thanks to Tinubu's highly lopsided appointments and the toxic approach of his overzealous supporters, our political atmosphere has been reduced to a pathetic state where all issues are now treated from the prism of "Lagos versus the rest of Nigeria". It will amount to eternal folly for anyone to believe that the Lamentations of the Northern elites is in the interest of their impoverished masses. Past and present Northern leaders have succeeded in laying waste to their states (with the exceptions of Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa and Niger states), simply because they've grown used to the tradition of sharing monthly Federal allocations accumulated from the economic activities of other regions, while they illegally mine Northern resources to enrich themselves and their religious clerics who help to whip the masses in line with hypnotic doctrines. Now they realize that this initiative is about to kick-start an era where you mostly earn according to the viable economic activities of your individual state, they're uncomfortable enough to be granting endless press statements. This should be a development embraced by all, as it paves way for every state Governor to buckle up, initiate policies which will enable business and economic activities so you can enjoy the bulk of the taxes commensurate to your productivity rate. But no, they want to keep enjoying the benefits of other people's sweat. I'll hate Tinubu even more if he bucks and backtracks on this tax reform initiative. The Northern elites kicking against this are all very stupid! Such an abhorrent crowd of parasitic leeches! 2 Likes |

Frigga13:I am not a Tinubu supporter, but you are lying about this. How many Igbo traders are earning one million naira per month? Perhaps you require education on the distinction between sales and income. Many of you are illiterates. By the time we check your records, you are not making one million nairas...your sales could be four or ten million. Is your monthly income equal to this one million? Illiteracy is at its peak. Over 95% Nigerians don't earn 1 millionaire monthly. Stop this rubbish. It is a win for you too if your income is low. Go and get educated and understand this bill properly. Illiteracy is a disease. 4 Likes |
