The Nigerian police have released the Lead Pastor of the Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), Bolaji Idowu, from its custody after big shots in the Aso Rock Villa, which is the seat of the Nigerian government and some clerics in the country "intervened", SaharaReporters has learnt.

SaharaReporters had reported that Pastor Idowu was arrested by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for alleged N1.5billion fraud.

It had also been reported that Idowu would spend the night in the custody of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigerian police over the allegations.

Meanwhile, in an update to SaharaReporters by top police sources late on Tuesday evening, it was revealed that the pastor was released after some forces in the Aso Rock Villa and some top pastors in the country mounted pressure on the Nigerian police.

"Pastor Bolaji was released late into the evening after big pastors and President Tinubu's Aso Villa intervened in the matter," one of the top police sources revealed to SaharaReporters.

"He has been asked to pay back the money traced to his account in two weeks," the authoritative source added.

SaharaReporters earlier exclusively reported that police operatives from the FCID were grilling Pastor Idowu, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

SaharaReporters had learnt from top police sources that Idowu, who is also popularly known as the "Next-Level Prayer Conference" pastor was arrested and is under probe for alleged real estate fraud and money laundering.

Giving an update to SaharaReporters, top police sources at the FCID had revealed that Pastor Idowu would be sleeping over in the police cell for the alleged crime.

"The case emanated from one of his pastors who duped several people in a real estate scheme," one of the top sources had revealed.

"The police investigation showed that several billions of naira in the scheme were traced first to Pastor Bolaji's church account and later to his personal account," the source had added.

Pastor Idowu started the church in December 2003.

Over the years, it has expanded locations across Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

According to the church website, the Harvesters church attracts over 70,000 worshippers both online and onsite.

Pastor Idowu's "Next Level Prayers" is a platform where participants offline and online are encouraged to build a prayer life.

Trust hot news from shahara for your headache. Tell shahara to mention five big people that intervened for his release, shahara can't tell because is not good at that kind of investigative journalism except speculation journalism. You could see how shahara is doing cut and join of irrelevant info to the news. Why not report after you conduct your full investigation instead of trial and error speculated journalism?

Money has always been what John was referring to as the mark of the beast in revelation.

The love of money is the root of all evil.

Nothing works in Nigeria

In a sane clime this will not happen

Nigerians are suffering today because those that are supposed to be in jail or sentenced to death are in power so what do you expect when criminals are in power

Seriously

Yes he was released but trust Sahara Reporters with their silly journalism of adding "Powers from Above" freed him.
As for me, many of these fine-boy expensive suit pastors are not to be trusted. Christians be diligent in choosing your spiritual leaders.

Fake news
Since it concerns those pastors that "have results" shey?

One thing I can assure you is that, any person, not only pastors, but most especially them, that flaunt wealth or clearly display wealth as their one advantage over others, is a fraud.

Name all of them: Obi Cubanna, Cubanna Chief Priest, Oyedepo, Joshua Selman, Micheal Orokpo, Paul Enenche, Yahaya Bello, etc.

One similar thing with them is the brazen display of wealth as an advantage or a result of whatever they do.

The most powerful religion in Nigeria today is the worship of Mammon the god of money and greed, not Islam and Christianity.
