It's finally going down! These rebels are on the verge of taking over Damascus. The city's completely encircled, and Assad's soldiers are trying to blend in and escape in their thousands. They're surrendering left and right, while Russia and Iran are scrambling to evacuate their bases in Syria 'cause they're scared of getting killed. Lol

Meanwhile, people are trying to leg it outta the country, especially Assad's loyalists, but flights are getting cancelled, and Assad himself is on a flight to who-knows-where, LOL! He's trying to avoid gettin' the Gaddafi treatment.

Syria will be another Libya. There will not be any centrally - recognised government. Each faction of the rebels/terrorist will be controlling its own fiefdom. The West should know that the fall of Assad will spell doom for them in later years. Refugees and migrants from Syria will continue to flood Europe.

The Russia vs Ukraine war led to the collapse of Syrian Army. If Russia is not tied up in Ukraine, they would have helped to save Assad. Iran also showed serious weakness in all of these. It’s obvious they can’t protect their allies in the Middle East.

As it stands, the Middle East just got messier. Syria will end up like or worse than Libya. All the groups that came together to fight Assad will control different territories. Even ISIL will have a share. It will be very bad.

The biggest loser in all of these is Iran. With Assad out, Israel can easily deal with Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthi rebels.

Quite true that Russia is never a reliable and dependable ally like the US.

However, Putin is sacrificing Syria for Ukraine. He knew very well that the Syrian Rebels' sudden eruption is a big distraction from the war ongoing in Ukraine. So, it is strategic not to commit resources to combat rebels but focus on the more important war in Ukraine to save his face.

Either which way, I see Putin collapsing as well because he can't win the Ukraine war as earlier imagined. For not supporting Assad shows he's low in military hardware and foot soldiers, hence the need to channel all efforts towards Ukraine.
