Ohanaeze Ndigbo Names New President-general by Dapromzy333(m): 6:56am On Dec 15
Nze Fidelis Chukwu, from Imo State, has been named the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, News360 Nigeria reports.

His appointment was announced in a communique issued after the Imeobi and General Assembly meeting of the socio-cultural group, held on Saturday in Enugu. The communique was signed by the Secretary-General, Ambassador Okey Emuchay.

Chukwu’s tenure, however, will be brief, lasting only 27 days to complete the Imo State presidency’s slot, which is set to conclude on January 10, 2025.

His emergence follows a series of leadership challenges faced by Ohanaeze Ndigbo. The death of Prof. George Obiozor in 2022 created a vacuum that led to the swearing-in of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu under a doctrine of necessity on April 30, 2023. Sadly, Iwuanyanwu passed away on July 25, 2024, and was laid to rest on November 1.

Emuchay said, “In line with the doctrine of necessity, the Imo Chapter of Ohanaeze, led by Mr. C. J. Ihemedu, presented Chukwu to the Imeobi Ohanaeze to exhaust the balance of the four-year tenure allotted to Imo.”

He said the motion for the adoption of Chukwu was moved by Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, Chairman of the Imo Council of Elders, and seconded by Chief Simon Okeke.

“In line with the doctrine of necessity, the Imeobi adopted the nomination of Chukwu as President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, and the motion was unanimously adopted through a voice vote by the Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

‘The State Presidents of Ohanaeze Ndigbo of Abia, Anambra, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Rivers expressed delight over the nomination of Chukwu as the new President-General until January 10, 2025,” Emuchay added.

He further stated that Chukwu was sworn in as the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide by the national legal adviser, Mr Joseph Ojobu, and the assistant legal adviser, Dr Peter Aneke.

He said the Southeast Governors’ Forum, represented by Gov. Peter Mbah, charged the new President-General to ensure that the forthcoming Ohanaeze election should be both transparent and credible.

This Ohaneze sha.. Hope the next president from Rivers State take up the mantle and does well

At least Renovation of Amadioha shrine in Etche should be done and make it a tourist attraction...

An attempt should be made to give final burial Rights to the Igbos that drowned themselves instead of being slaves so their souls can rest and a monument errected for them

This is why I don't take these guys at Ohanaeze serious. For those of you who don't know, the socalled "leader of Imo State Council of Elders"(whatever that nonsense means), Cletus Ilomuanya, is a well known 419er. Since the early 90s. Oliver de Coque used to sing with his name. This guy together with the current supreme Court imposed governor, are well known in Imo state for their criminal activities. For whatever reasons, all the 419ers from Imo state have congregated at Owerri, and have now decided to dance skelewu ontop of Imo State finances. Cletus Ilomuanya from Ihite Owerri, Hope Uzodimma from Omuma and the late Okwelle Holdings from Okwelle.

These are well known fraudsters that have morphed into governors, traditional rulers and law makers , ofcourse with the help of the Nigerian state. I blame Rochas shaa. He had the time and goodwill to stop their menace but got carried away. The best way to destroy a culture is to impose criminals as leaders. Igbos should fight off these characters. All these guys do is to lodge at the best hotels at owerri with the most sumptuous IMSU girls and wait for month end to share the "allocation loot". Rochas fought them for a while and stopped. They started with Udenwa and they are still at it. Maybe Imo state will unleash another Otokoto riot before their enablers back off.

Better

Stick your cultural title to your 5 states and stop being used by others

The likes of Amaechi, Ned Nwoko, Asari even NOI only remember being Igbo's when they need something from the people from the region.

That's boboring

Modified: The attacks are unnecessary as there is sincerity with my comments . Igbo's drug this , Igbo's drug that news, what happened to the Igbo's in South South bearing clear Igbo names and into drug business , are they taking responsibility for their actions or the blame should be on big brothers 5 SE states?

Amaechi, Nwoko, Ngozi are not Swahili names, so you don't have a say about the scope, the cultural title covers.😂😂😂

Go and read! Black man will never read.
This man is to complete the tenure for Imo state which is just 27 days. After that, he would help conduct election for the next president that would lead for 4 years.
This is fair.
This organization have presidents from Delta, rivers and the 5 eastern states. The igbos in Delta and Rivers are not less Igbos. They are igbos as well. So, if tomorrow, Ebonyi State is calved out of South east and added to north centra. Or Nsukka is added to North central by another govt, will that make Nsukka people less Igbos?
Some of u need to understand the difference between ancestry and state creation.
