Awka – Renowned human rights activist Emeka Umeagbalasi, chairman of the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), and his family were attacked by gunmen in Anambra State.

Umeagbalasi reported that the first assault occurred on November 27 when gunmen opened fire and forcibly seized his Mitsubishi Hilux truck from his driver, Comrade Chike Umeh. Although the vehicle was initially recovered, it was stolen again by the gunmen, who demanded a ransom of N250,000 for its release and for the peaceful continuation of a family funeral.

The gunmen, after taking the vehicle a second time at the Ezinifite Roundabout in Aguata Local Government Area, forced Umeagbalasi’s wife, Blessing, their 4-year-old son Chimdiebube, housegirl Somtochukwu Okafor, 13, and the driver Umeh, 55, out of the car at gunpoint.

Reports indicate that on the same day, the gunmen also hijacked several other vehicles, including a Prado SUV, and abducted their occupants. The gunmen held nine communities in the area under siege for over eight hours.

The incident was reported to the Ekwulobia Police Division, and the Anambra State Police Command later confirmed the recovery of the stolen blue Hilux truck.

Intersociety has written to the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, requesting the return of the stolen vehicle and other domestic items.

Buhari is now happy in his grave for systematically turning a once haven of peace into a war zone.

Soludo should do something about this insecurity in the state he governs, not chochochochooo all the time, making a whole lot of noise without doing anything.

You mean the same Zamfara that over 50 women were abducted a week ago by armed gun men?

Of course, those of you who only remember there is insecurity in Nigeria only if it happens in the South East, didn't think that was news worthy at all due to location

Is Soludo a curse in Anambra State? Why is insecurity and violent crimes becoming the norm under his watch as governor and yet his data boys are touting him excellently?

Weep my beloved Anambra, Soludo would never happen again, not in 2025. Sir Paul Chukwuma ( Onwa Umueri) is coming on a rescue mission to salvage us from the ruins Soludo had plunged the entire State into.

Is insecurity a competition now? Is it not better it's brought in the news so that the government at all levels will bring it down than hiding it.

Governor Soludo what is happening in Anambra state? The investors that managed to come will now run away. Borrow the Peter Obi template to solve this issue, atleast Anambra was calm in his time.

With all the violent happenings in Anambra, people are still going there? The East is a scary place to be if you are rich.

It is wise to stay away from the East right now. The IPOB activities have made Arms readily available fuelling crimes
