He should try and practice what he learnt... Eg, he should open his own club and be the Head of the finance team. Problem solved
Is it not capital he will use to start the business, do you know what interest rate stands at if Emmanuel choses to borrow from the bank

I was a member of several interview panels. You would be shocked at the performance of our graduate.

So shocking.

Namaster:
You chose the WRONG qualification to pass the right message.

If your FICTIONAL Emmanuel was half as smart and ambitious as you painted him to be, then he'd have gotten his ICAN accreditation and find his way into a Big 4 Accounting Firm through their ROBUST Internship programmes.

Next time you want to tell a cock-and-bull story, make it BELIEVABLE!

Well, I doubt your story, even though unemployment is a major debacle if this country. E go hard for pezin to attend any two of UI, Unilag, OAU, Unilorin, UNN, Covenant and graduate with good grades and not know how to saddle his career journey, even if na overseas scholarship or some office or some success with business or online whatever, the pezin go see, no be to dey do bartender he go dey do like. The person would know best he needs ICAN and ACCA and the likes to stand out. For instance, my younger sister studying Accounting in Unilorin is about to conclude her Professionals in ICAN at year 4. She said about half of her classmates have or are on verge of having their ICAN certificates. Shey na those ones go finish, do Masters still no go get work? My friend who studied BSc and MSc in Accounting in OAU, finished last year and got placement for 350k permanent banking job, she declined, saying she's worth more, and she's 31. She left for UK in January and got job almost soon.

Na you dey paint this unrealistic story. Quality education still opens doors! No dey yarn okpata
Ur friend that left for UK,how did she get the money to go ...

NNPC and Total energy rejected my very intelligent wife because she is 30 years old.

Kindly note;

My wife graduated with Second class upper Hons (4 Point something)

MBA Marketing option

Has over 4 years work experience as a Commercial assistant

SAP certified

Interned at an international airport

Now back to school to get her MBA certificate due to unemployment.

Welcome to Nigeria, where you spend millions on education and have nothing to show for it...

You didn't tell us when she graduated sir.

In 2019 I was not qualified for NNPC because I graduated in 2013 but I was within the required age.

She didn't meet age requirements as there's age to grade in standard coys.

Is MSc for only people that wants to be a lecturer?
dfrost:
The problem most times is not the government but the individuals.

Question: Why study an MSc. if you are not going to pursue a career in lecturing in the near future? There are some things that are not well-placed.

What is this big four firms please? I keep hearing dem but don't know what they are!
Baldwretch:

Usually, the highest pitched timbrels end up making the faintest noise.

Seems you just landed from your space shuttle and found yourself in a remote part of Nigeria. It seems you have been away from Nigeria right from the year dot. You are clearly not in consonance with the social, economical, and physical realities of the country you just found yourself in.

If I may ask you, these big four firms that provide internship routes, where are they located? Four cities, max. And what happens if Emmanuel is not located in any of these four cities? Would you or anyone here provide all he needs to settle and acclimate in any of these four cities he chooses? Nigeria has more than 36 cities and his options are extremely minimal if he lives outside these four cities.

Again, there are a shitty amount of ICAN holders who are barely surviving, so Emmanuel's plight is not a special case. It is not unique at all. Do you have any idea how many ICAN graduates get accredited yearly? DO you know that (it was made a law, not sure about that though) many Accounting undergraduates sit for ICAN vis-a-vis their undergraduate degree program, do you know that? What is so unique about that?

Again, these big four firms you talked about, how many interns are each capable of on-boarding? How much are they capable of paying these interns?

ICAN holders who do not live in any of the cities these big four are located, then what? What becomes of their fate? How do these get by? Selling sachet water and soft drinks in their small provision store? Is it everyone, or every ICAN holder, who has to relocate to Lagos because they have a degree?

Again, it seems laughable that you think there are jobs everywhere for every degree holder. No sir. There are not.

Regardless of where I'm based, my words are TRUE.

A brilliant, hardworking and ambitious man who is certified as a CHARTERED Accountant would have ZERO problem securing a DECENT job in Nigeria.

The BIG 4 internship route is the EASIEST.

Accounting is a PROFESSIONAL course with a clearly defined path.

These Big 4s are ALWAYS recruiting in THIRD-WORLD countries like Nigeria and India because they are eager to exploit cheap labour.

They outsource jobs from expensive first-world countries to their branch companies in places like Nigeria.

If Emmanuel is smart and ambitious and a CHARTERED accountant but he tends a bar; Emmanuel does NOT exist.

That is the TRUTH.
I told him is not possible to have a jobless ICAN graduate
