Ever since the price of cooking gas and even kerosene and charcoal skyrocketed many Nigerians have dumped beans cooking but instead opted for buying cooked beans from vendors because of the high consumption of the fuel used in preparation of it.
But thank God for this brief method that help in saving gas efficiently.


Let me share with you how it works so that you too can also give it a try...

Picture1 shows how it starts:- You rinse your beans and pour it in your pot with water and add adequate salt and lit it on your gas.

Picture2 shows that the beans is boiling on the gas and then after you turn off your gas and leave the beans in the boiling water for some minutes.

picture3 after leaving the beans for some minutes and the boiling water is becoming warm then you on your gas again and allow it to bring again for about 5min and then you off your gas again.

Picture4 is that last stage as you can see the beans is already done and ready to consume but if you wish to cook it as porridge you can add all the necessary ingredients and cook till completely done
There's no disadvantage in preparing your beans this way but you will have to be close to keep watch and save your gas so that it will give you the most preferable result

Good advice but please no salt at the beginning, it doesn't allow food to release nutrients properly if added at the beginning plus this method you prescribed will work will for brown beans, white beans will hardly respond. Better still save up for pressure pot, beans will be ready in 20 minutes max

As a real Anambra man wey i be, i wash my beans and put on the fire, once it boils, I drain the water out, boil again and drain out the water for the second count. then I put back in the pot, add water, throw a spoon or two into the pot of beans, and slice some onions into it. and then before Aston Villa will finish beating Man city in the first half, the beans ready to serve.

I guess you can stick to charcoal or wood and a clay pot to avoid risk.

Just know we are not "playing around gas cooker", we are cooking beans with it. And not every one is so afraid of the risk of living or is willing to bear the expense of not innovating.

unfortunately buhari and tinubu were part of that same 90s, in fact buhari was one of the 90s hardship.

This is how I do mine , after washing my beans , I will soak it like garri for some minutes , then remove the water , turn it into my pot , add another clean water to it and cook . It will soft fast .. I this days na to dey squeeze body fill 3kg about every 8-9days interval .. once in a week or twice if nepa bring light , I dey use electric cooker too ..

1. How can one put a pot on a gas? Gas o?
Abi na gas cylinder or gas stove/cooker?
2. How can you say there is no disadvantage in using 5his method? People who work 9 to 5 or live on a fast lane cannot cook laidis. It take tume abeg.

Pressure pot is the best bet for cooking beans, saving time and gas as well.
My beans cooks in 15 to 20 mins.

I am not angry, lol. Its not like you will come to my house and cook my beans how I'd rather not now. Or would you?

Just that gas and pressure cookers are not as risky as you are making out, and I'd not like the false opinion that they might be to prevail without dispute.

Its like if claimed the earth were square, you need not be angry when you say otherwise. Though, to be honest, you ought to want to come and kick my ass after asking if my school fees were paid in full.

I think that's because we were not wealthy, and she had daughters to feed and pad and not be tempted by pigs. No light in rooms no one's in, and lantern instead of matches. Food on the dinning table without fail though, but god help you if your cutlery is missing.

Sounds like a helluva great mother to me. I didn't know they don't work optimally with kerosene stoves. I wonder why. Isn't it just heat it requires?

Bad maintained kerosene stoves if you asked me, because now you remind me, we did use a kerosene stove at times. Had to burn full blue flame though, as yellow flame, which incidentally is a waste of fuel, is not as hot so wouldn't help get the pressure.

So yellow flame (yeah, bad or low-quality stove) failed to produce enough heat to pressurise the cooker. Wow, interesting.
