You won't blame the govt for this.
It's the organizers

Well, yes, I blame the organizers. But the government also has a duty of care.

Back to the UK. The government essentially for years blamed the organizers. Even after Hillsborough, the blame was put on the clubs and the fans by a section of the media (one reason why the UK Sun is no longer sold in LIverpool was because of a distasteful headline blaming their fans for HIllsborough...96 Of them died). When Hillsborough happened, the government was forced to set up a commision of inquiry which brought in safety measures that have made watching a match safer and better in the UK.

Look, you need to go and realize how bad it was in British stadiums before 1989. Stadia looking like trash in a developed country (even Wembley was described as smelling like piss by a writer once. IN the 1980's for crying out loud). HIllsborough was a disaster that was wating to happen.

It is not a criticism to say that your government should take measures to stop such disasters from happening. Even a law governing how and where events like this are organized would help. It does not take time. I doubt anyone in the state or national assembly would oppose such a law being passed.

Fools are not saying anything when government pointed hand to organizers and even arrested them but organizers were simply trying to help alleviate the suffering the government are inflicting on the masses and when you criticize the government, the paid urchins and bigots will attack you.

You cannot blame him.

He needs to keep up with his own publicity so he can pursue his political ambition to be President of Nigerian someday.

He certainly does not have the talent nor patience for building political structures like Tinubu.

Can he himself Tinubu and his cronies endure the pains they are inflicting on Nigerians if the tables were turned around? Sometimes I wonder how you lots
reason.

Stampede in 3 different places within 2 weeks has never happened in Nigeria before.

Tinubulation powered the recent tragedies.
Even during the civil war
No stampede and they want all of us to remain suffering n smiling

Na real 'arije ninu modaru'.. look at his election campaign too, it was full of divide and rule tactics and campaign of calumny.

If people are hungry, with proper crowd control, the palliatives or donations or whathaveyou will go round without issues.. it's when there is no crowd control measure that stampedes happen because Nigerians don't keep to orderliness and we don't like waiting for our turn.
Obi is just a blo0dy hypocrite trying to score cheap political points through 'modaru'.

Obi na mumu, always wanting to score cheap political points on every issues.
The political point scored is that people were stampeded even in a Catholic church in Maitama, the high brow area of Abuja, what brought about it? Hunger, people were hungry, food is too expensive because cost of transport and manufacturing is too high. What made food expensive? Tinubu's failed POLITICAL decisions. So why wouldn't it be politicized. Tinubu and APC first weaponized and politicized hunger.

Stampedes typically occur when a large group of people all try to get away from a perceived danger. Hunger is the danger.

The thing about yoruba people is that they feign ignorance even when the facts are staring them in the face. As long it's their kinsman in power, they are eager to bend the truth. Shey na all of us dey face the consequences.

F.. your masters ill articulated and implemented policies have worsen the living conditions of majority of citizens without any respite...which was never the case during PDP era or even during buharia era because citizens went on lock down for months and no one died of hunger or stampede...but yet a little over a year of Tpain administration citizens are willing to be lured into a gathering of uncontrollable crowd resulting in stampede and u want prominent opposition voice like PO and Atiku to react differently...wicked souls

Any part of the world ... if someone announced he'd be sharing free money at a particular location ...dat and time....then shows up with a bus load of cash and begin to give out by the handfuls.... what do you think will happen? Most likely people would be trampled and killed .... who would you blame for the tragedy and why? ... the organizer or the government? Feel free to pretend you didn't read this or not to respond.

I'll overlook your insults.. I try in my capacity to put smile on people's faces all year round, not just festive periods and I don't go about making noise about it.
Obi is an opportunist that plays politics with everything.. he did irlt with Ifeanyi Ubah's death, did it with the unfortunate stampede incidentt in Ibadan and is still doing it.. People need to start calling him out so he'll keep shut.

A man with no achievement to show in his 8 failed years as Governor of Anambra shouldn't be disturbing our peace with senseless posts and comments.

Being in the ruling party does not mean you must "Oppose " the truth,

WHatever justification of brain gymnastic APc nd the loyalist are trying so hard to come up with at these time makes no sense

We can talk about four stampede in a year, proffer solution and not talk about the root cause, in history of Nigeria can Apc tell us when people ever died cos of Rice/food

i listened to Tinubu media chat and i challenge anyone to point to the minute Tpain showed empathy or emotional intelligence, just arrogance and over confident on top zero in report card

dec 2023 long grain rice was around 40k compared to 2024 160k for rice ... look at the economy why wont we have a stampede ??

Talking about Nigeria predicament without involving the govt is like practicing xtainity without bible.

No management control can hold back a hungry population, Please Nigerians look after yourselves.

For 2013 you posted, add 3 more stampede headlines and make sense

Some of you are just unbelievable, so because stampede happened in 2013 it justifies 4 stampede under one year becos of rice.
