There is a breed that grows big.
You have to rear it for long though.
Last one I saw was reared locally for more than 6 months.

Thank you.
This is what I've been looking for.
Someone that actually understands.

The fact we both haven't seen anything like it before is why I am concerned.
I know people use different things to boost their growth but why we're they not boosting it years before untill ending of this year.

I wish I weighed mine, the moment I lifted one with my
left arm and it felt too heavy I just thought if this is
turkey

And they are tasteless. Imagine frying chicken and a bite didn’t really push you towards having another .
I observed and mentioned it to my mum that I’m not sure this chicken was naturally bred.

Not exactly like usual taste experience

Start you meat journey now with native fowl. Many of us dont know how weak we are until you bite native fowl..you go know how meat hard tp chow down and how protein de hard to digest for body. If you no sleep forget yourself make i know wetin cause am. All this chicken you fit bite bone no make you formidable and strong. Try use your money eat chicken weh feed for gutter. Only the smell for pot done wake your senses. No need for much seasoning.

No be all this once weh you go add bay leaves paprika maggi onions garlic ginger taste no go still come out. Just boil old native chicken with salt or small magi then taste chicken for the first time in your life.

Like you don't have a choice overseas? Non-GMO options are available overseas, maybe not everywhere but in most big cities.

this is why i have been a strong advocate of anti japa - what we overseas are suffeing - GMO foods, they finally brought it to naija

You are not suffering when you have options.
There are organic farm products all around you unless you can't afford them.
If that is the case, then you should be grateful for the cheap foods and not demonizing it.

Bill gates left the thread.......

I got one recently as a gift.

I must confess, after cooking some of it and saw the oil it produced, plus how fat the thighs were.... I paused for a while.

It was past ten at night and I just wanted to chew something while watching YouTube.

Omo, na so I just dey look the plate if chicken every few minutes.
Many things ran thru my mind, but I was somehow scared to take a bite.

After a while I picked a piece, took a bite and out it back.

After 30 mins, because of how tasty it was from the seasoning I used, I took another bite.
Then washed it down with fanta( my thinking was that an acidic drink should be able to help digest the plump chicken quickly).

Then I took a full piece and used about 30 mins to finish it!

Fear no allow me eat the remaining o.

Gave several bags of the chicken to random people I know.

That's why I said on the forum that I have never bought a live chicken for more than 4k since I enter abuja.

This one must be the type the OP is talking about.

Teenager will start wearing xxl t-shirt like oyinbo people Dem Gmo...

Thats because these teenagers start eating shawarma and hamburger and pizza and other pasta which are enhanced with GMO to increase their calories content.

These calories from GMO are transfered to children who consume these foods genre in enormous quantity, hence the extra large size of teenagers these days.

The way next generation will be down with Hypertension, heart failures among others 50 years from now will be alarming.

Thank God for my local fowl and village local goat. They are healthier because they eat natural grasses.

The steroids are much.

Even teenagers are affected.

Genetic modification...!

One of the reasons people will eat little and still gain weight.

The feeds being fed to these birds are designed in the lab to enhance their cells and 'improve' them.

It's also happening with seeds for planting.

Nigerians won't escape this Westernised stage of human evolution or retrogression, since we have refused to be independent of the Western world.

You just open up my eyes,my wife do train birds most especially for family use.The chemical use in making the grower and finisher should be studied to know if it is healthy or not. This kind of information is the reason why I join nairaland until tribal bigots started taking over the forum.Nafdac should check if the feed use in fish and birds farming are good for the health.

Yes, the use of certain drugs by even our local farmers is scary. Any small issue some of them just add antibiotics to the consumption routine, shikena grin

This chicken weighed 9kg when I went to buy it on 24th Dec. cost me 40k in Lagos. I was in awe of its size that I began to wonder what the rearers feed them. Haven’t seen such a thing before. The picture doesn’t do justice to the actual size of this chicken
By the way
Did you get yours from temp?

Cos that orange bag without says alot grin
Re: Have You Noticed The Sudden Trend Of Big Chickens In Nigeria? by nautybride: 4:52pm On Jan 02
I am thinking it's the specie of the birds. A lot of cross breeding has been going on. The chicken are genetically modified to get big as much as they eat. It's nothing new! Science and Technology era!

It's true...quality over quantity has always being my thing, infact I prefer buying old layers like 2 or 3 and prepare it by myself, more tastier, natural and healthy.

You're right... This morning, I killed one chicken that was reared for just about 3 months. After removing its feathers, I lifted it and felt a heavy weight. It hardly had fats in it. Too much meat seriously.
I really hope these today's birds are right for consumption.

That was my question. Who are this "same organic farms" so some of us can be on the lookout for the brand names cool

Old layer still eat GMO. Old layer is not native fowl. Native fowl is the one that they didn't use chemical to grow.
