2 Turkey laps 0.6kg 2,000 naira (146 rubles)

Pork meat 0.6 kg 3,300 naira (236 rubles) Pork is actually pretty expensive. High demand I guess. Also from my last post some people were annoyed that I eat pork which is strange grin. 'beef' is a god in one country. Besides here in the cold, meat, especially pork is vital for survival. smiley

Sea food (Mature Squid about four) 303 rubles (4,250 naira)

Total of about 9,500 Naira. However I paid only about 9,000 naira for these items because like I mentioned earlier, some stores offer discount for students if you carry your student Identification card with you.

You might be wondering if I only want to eat meat or why I don't buy other things. Well my church pastor who is obviously a Russian often sends us (African students) food items like rice, potatoes and spices so I hardly buy these items. tongue Also we tend to buy potatoes collectively in large quantities during summer when it is even much cheaper.

Happy new year Nairalanders.

All these japa folks are very funny. Trying to psychologically justify to themselves why they chose the path of voluntary slavery. That is what these conversions of whatever they buy over there to naira are about.
By the way, Russia is a frigid, dead country, there is nothing going on there.

Very cheap. I kilo of chicken in Abuja is #5000 for soft, #6000 for hard, and #6800 for breast.

RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA!

Slava Rossiya 🇷🇺 🇷🇺 🐻 ❤️

The west hates this beautiful country because they have an abundance of every mineral resources you can think of. They call Putin a dictator because he refused to give these resources out to them for FREE, like past Russian leaders did.

Russia is self sufficient and will be for at least another 900 years.

I will love Russia until the day that I die. God Bless Russia 🇷🇺

I see you're sharing your experiences with food prices in Russia and how you’re making the most of student discounts. But I can’t help but notice the comparison to Naira prices. While I get the temptation to convert everything into Naira for familiarity, it’s important to remember that the Russian economy doesn’t operate in Naira, and their prices are set in rubles based on their own local market conditions.

Converting foreign prices into Naira might give a sense of how expensive things are, but it can also create a skewed perspective. The reality is, what you’re spending in Russia is relevant to your local context there. It’s all about adjusting to the economic environment you’re in. For example, food prices and overall living expenses in Russia might be more affordable for some when you consider the ruble’s value and the cost of living in relation to local income.

While it’s common for people to compare costs between currencies, especially in a place with economic challenges like Nigeria, sometimes the habit of constantly converting prices into Naira can reflect a deeper sense of scarcity or poverty mentality. It’s not necessarily about being wrong, but more about adjusting the mindset and recognizing that in other countries, the cost of living is based on different economic realities. You’re in Russia, so think of your expenses in rubles and adjust accordingly!

Also, it’s great that your church pastor is supporting you with food staples. That kind of community support is priceless, especially when you're living abroad.

It is not every country in the world you need to migrate. Some are only good for a visit, Russia is one of them.

Russia is like 16th-century Europe. Forget about what WriterNg does here with his propaganda. China is 1000 years ahead of Russia, even South Africa.
