The streets of Kogi state were awash with an electric atmosphere as thousands of jubilant supporters lined the roads, waving flags and chanting songs of solidarity. It was a homecoming like no other. Former Governor Yahaya Bello, the man who had weathered a storm of political adversity, returned to his beloved hometown amidst cheers that echoed through the hills of Kogi State.

Behind the fanfare, the political undertones were unmistakable. Observers noted that Bello’s return was as much a demonstration of his political strength as it was a homecoming.

For the people of Kogi, it was a day of pride and hope—a reminder that their leader was back, ready to continue the fight for their future.

No matter what you think, I think this man his loved by his people. Makes me wonder why they cooked all those stories against him.

Before arresting Bello for corruption, the likes of Akpabio, Wike, should all be in jail

if you have been to the North you will understand that mobilising people like this is nothing when yiu have the resources. Kogi is North central. The rate of poverty in the morth can make people gather just for anything. Even the promise of spaghetti, 1k, wrappers, 3k etc can empty villages for you.

Nothing but an extention of the unending Igala vs Ebira political tussle at Lokoja. His Ebira people will always see him as their big lion for rescuing them from Igala political colonialism and marginalisation. Wether he is a crook or not is a secondary issue. He led as an Ebira man and handed over power to another Ebira man. For states with internal political confrontations like Kogi and Benue, this is no mean feat.

Even in south too but yayaha Bello has always been loved by his people the egbiras. We speak almost same language and understand each other language cos it's just intonation differences. First governor from his tribe. Do you know how many people he uplifted, expecially youths. 80 percent of appointments were people younger than him and that was why does greedy politicians who has been milking the state were annoyed and start sponsoring all manners of allegations. If you travel frequently to Abuja, you will know that through our his tenure, there were no major security challenges unlike before. Okene axis used to be hotbed of crisis and that always resulted to gridlock of travellers. He performed more than many governors who they praise today. Lokoja was transformed by him. There is no governor since 1999 that will boast of spending 70 percent of resources at his disposal. No governor at all in Nigeria. They only do better than each other.

The Igallas were just to greedy and apart from the late Audu who actually tried, others were complete failure. They determined everything but Yahaya Bello restored new order. Bello performed more than any of them. Under his tenure, youth were incharge of critical positions. You can't count youth in thirties who were commissioner and DGs. Do I wanted him to zone the ticket to dino melaye district but since Igallas were bringing a candidate, he just give his fellow tribeman the ticket and that paid off cos they won all thier local government in kogi central. Igallas are the ones Mostly sponsoring all manners of allegations. Goggle fair plus transport, which he owns before becoming governor and see the kind of buses he used. They are mostly benz products. He operates mainly in northern region. Yes he might also stole some money too but not the different ones be called just to nailed him. Igallas we wait till twenty four years to be governor again cos other zones waited for sixteen years they govern the state.

Exactly my point. I laugh when I read the negative propaganda against him here which started almost the day he took over in his first term. If you're not conversant with the internal dynamics that propel local politics there, you will swallow these propaganda materials line hook and sinker.

I was in Lokoja the very night before the day he was sworn in, and at the hotel I lodged, it was a show of the clear contrast of emotions amongst members off the two different ethnic groups. While the igallas were basically mourning, the other side was an endless carnival for the Ebiras who were trooping into town for tomorrows inauguration. How they didn't fight that night beats me..

Few days later, the negative propaganda started. They didn't even allow him to settle down. You can tell that irrespective of whatever he does, he will never satisfy a huge section of the state, basically because of his ethnicity. Same in Benue, where the Tivs will feel like the igallas someday for the way they have treated the Idomas..

Hi Boss. Are you saying Igalla and Ebira speak the same language with just intonation differences? Or is it Yoruba and Igalla?

Good. If Anambra people didn’t complain about Obi hiding their money in tax havens and locking it to yield interest in his bank, then Yahaya Bello getting a hero’s welcome in Kogi isn’t out of place. Let everyone celebrate their looters without discrimination

The sad story of Nigeria. A man that used state resources to pay for school fees for his children into the future is the one they are coming out to hail.
Politicians have weaponed poverty. Make the people miserably poor then offer them a few crumbs and they will see you as their Messiah. So sad

You are mistaken, GYB isn't the first Governor the Ebiras has produced but the late Alh Adamu Atta in the old kwara state, infact let me educate you today, the Igalas has never been Governor in thier old Benue state and were oppressed and relegated to second class citizens by the Tivs, so the ebiras being magnanimous allowed the Igalas to occupy lugard house first so that rotation can start but being a greedy lot they reneged on the agreement, but guess what, here we are today, its going to be the turn of the Okuns going foward
