Let's even talk tactics. Mali had one man advantage from the first half against CIV. Scored from a screamer, and still could not win.

A tactically sound coach should have won that game. So I don't get it
bros you can’t win that Ivorian team that came with that fiery 🔥 re-enforcement… spain sef jam CIV at afcon that spirited performance will still have them breeze pass to the final…..CIV won Afcon same way Portugal won Euro 2016, same spirited showing Zambia gave….Remember Mali lost a penalty to seal them 2-0 win…Eric Chelle outclassed CIV than Peseiro did at the final…
Same spirited performance that helped chelsea winning UCL 2012 after meeting a technically sound barca and even chelsea receiving red card and messi losing a penalty, they still went ahead to the final to meet another crazy match….so Eric Chelle not beating CIV was not a reflection of the true stat of that game…Eric was hugely unlucky…..

Post AFCON Mali under Chelle lost to Ghana at home, and couldn't beat Madagascar @bolded.
He topped the group at AFCON with 1 win and 2 draws.

Fierce Tunisia? How did Tunisia fare besides Mali at the AFCON?
Let's also note that SA lost their first game. They probably got better after then.

See the Group Standing as a refresher.

Really surprised on how the narrative changed so quickly on Eguavoen. Not too long ago many supported giving him a permanent contract, now he’s barely mentioned here.

Is this Chelle better than him?

Na so life be unfortunately

Problem is Chelle is not the best 3rd grade foreign coach we can get with African experience.

so pls bro name one or two 3rd best grade available foreign coach we shoud have employed

walai talai if Peseiro with his defensive approach was playing them with 10 men and we were leading, there is no way CIV would have beaten us

Emerse Fae is like Roberto Di Matteo of Chelsea champions league winner,so nothing special
but he is currently firing strong even after the…ivory coast is currently topping their table

I don't even need to do my research. If I actually do, I would find at least 3. But even at the home front Chelle is not better than Egu.

Who is talking of praying oga? A coach had just been announced. He had not held his first press conference so we can get insights of his plans, neither has a ball been kicked in a competitive match yet he is been written off. So many women on here.
Oga Truid,if na local coach wetin you go talk..do you ever allowed any local coach to settle down before you talked him down.

e fear me o.. I don't even see why they want to occupy him with the CHAN Eagles if it's not about selling some home based players.

Well, both Rohr and Peseiro had average RECENT records before they joined the SE but they achieved meaningful success with us.

No matter how good a cook is, if you give her
2,000 naira to cook a pot of Ogbono soup, she will certainly do worse than an average chef given a budget of 500,000 naira to prepare the same dish.

No matter how skilled a coach is, if he keeps getting hired by poor teams with average players, there's little he can do. Chelle has never managed a team as talented as the SE before. Now he has a team with elite players in the best clubs in the world at his disposal.

Let's see how his soup will taste.

I see your point
And I kinda agree with you
Let's see how he does
And let's hope he dutifully addresses our midfield concerns and more importantly delivers results

may we also consider the circumstances that led to Fae getting the job? Yes surprises can happen, but should we have these kind of mediocre standards at appointing coaches, because of a few surprises?

see ehhn how i see football… anything happens… u guys are looking for 3 grade foreign coach that has won afcon trophy or what…all i know is no matter the caliber of coach…if its world cup qualification at all cost thats on our mind, u guys should take it off…cos at this point sef e no sure the best coach in the world will guarantee us qualification…

football is not all this 1+1 stats we are using to analyze…because Ghana 🇬🇭 was poor at afcon, u think Ghana cannot rise to beat CIV tomorrow…you cant predict all these african giants..
teams like B/faso, Mali,Guinea, Tunisia,Gabon,Rwanda,Angola,Zambia are teams that can beat themselves any day any time…its not as if Mali is one Cameroon that you ppl are expecting Chelle to maintain that giant pedigree…He steered mali the way mali should be steered…Keshi also had the same poor outing with Mali, was he a bad coach?

We are all at the party waiting to taste the soup. Not all guests will salivate looking at how dirty the kitchen is.

Sometimes, the food prepared at the "dirty" roadside bukas taste better than those from the five-star restaurants.

If you know, you know 😉

Lol .... Even with Ogunmodede and His good friend, they can still market our boys. I feel its not about marketing as i believe it will even be easier to market them with OG and Fidelix.

That midfield is paramount. The declaration of a state of emergency there is long overdue.

I cannot believe that the same country that produced such midfield giants as Okocha and Mikel suddenly cannot produce half-decent press resistant midfielders with above average passing abilities.

It's high time we had looked beyond league and club and started inviting players based on our needs and their individual capabilities.

Since we can't get them from the elite clubs in England and Spain, let's turn to the second and third divisions of Western Europe and the First divisions of Eastern Europe.

Let's beam our searchlight on Turkey, on Greece, heck, even on North Africa, the MLS and South Africa.

Let's get the Chrisantus Uches and the Nwakalis. Get professional scouts to watch their games and make INDIVIDUAL judgements about their abilities.

We can't continue to overload our attack with stars when we have little viable means of giving them the supplies.

That's why our team has been tottering around like a giant standing on the tiny legs of a child.
