i think i have to believe in this new coach…i just went to watch his team that beat south africa 2-0 at the afcon…the attack was so direct meehn…but i wonder why couldn’t beat Namibia and Tunisia playing out a 0-0 draw with them…meeting burkina faso at round 16 and also playing fast direct attack.
the quarterfinals loss again CIV still shock me though, cos they played CIV like mad…that ivorian team was on a fairy tale afcon run. coming from almost getting eliminated and from behind to beat senegal, mali and Nigeria showed CIV was destined to win the afcon.
I just pray he clicked to a good start…we dont need any slow start in his tenure from the world cup qualifiers
Hope - that's all we have. If we miss the world cup I'd be really pained but I have hope. Anything can happen. It happened right before our eyes as CIV against all logic rose from the ashes and won the AFCON. My brothers we got nothing to lose. Just believe. Shikena

The only positive I can take from Chelle's appointment is his determination to make a name for himself accepting a pay cut. This matches our desperation to qualify for the World Cup. He knows very well our biggest foes in the group -- South Africa, a team we must defeat also. Coupled with Rwanda having a new coach, it could tilt to our favor. The profiles in the Malian team he handled is quite different from ours. He has a very short time, but I am very skeptical about his tactical decisions in big moments. In reality he is quite inexperienced, but he will learn more at this new job, however it goes.

Rwanda hasn’t changed deir coach bro

One thing I noticed about this our new coach in the last Afcon is that he is a no nonsense coach …I remember him removing Yves Bissouma from the starting eleven and still played well without him

One thing i noticed is that if NFF does not give him a free hand to pick his players and instill discipline the marriage wont end well.

Do you have guarantee that if Santfiet had been hired we would qualify? No be you dey support aji baller wey no get pedigree?

You want the coach that will give you peace of mind. No way!

Well, both Rohr and Peseiro had average RECENT records before they joined the SE but they achieved meaningful success with us.

No matter how good a cook is, if you give her
2,000 naira to cook a pot of Ogbono soup, she will certainly do worse than an average chef given a budget of 500,000 naira to prepare the same dish.

No matter how skilled a coach is, if he keeps getting hired by poor teams with average players, there's little he can do. Chelle has never managed a team as talented as the SE before. Now he has a team with elite players in the best clubs in the world at his disposal.

Let's see how his soup will taste.
Hmmmm I like the taste of what you wrote.

bros you can’t win that Ivorian team that came with that fiery 🔥 re-enforcement… spain sef jam CIV at afcon that spirited performance will still have them breeze pass to the final…..CIV won Afcon same way Portugal won Euro 2016, same spirited showing Zambia gave….Remember Mali lost a penalty to seal them 2-0 win…Eric Chelle outclassed CIV than Peseiro did at the final…
Same spirited performance that helped chelsea winning UCL 2012 after meeting a technically sound barca and even chelsea receiving red card and messi losing a penalty, they still went ahead to the final to meet another crazy match….so Eric Chelle not beating CIV was not a reflection of the true stat of that game…Eric was hugely unlucky…..
He is not the best but he is good abeg
I dey enjoy your positive vibes. If something go spoil, e go spoil. It's better to be positive

I'm indifferent about the Chelle guy but our fate is tied together so we hv no choice than to support him.

We've had unknown quantities deliver for the Super Eagles in time past.

Westerhof was an assistant coach with feyernord before been appointed the Eagles coach and he led Nigeria to her first world cup appearance and the first AFCON glory outside Nigeria. He is often touted as Nigeria's most successful coach.

Also, Jo Bonfrere was just a physical trainer to the Super Eagles but was appointed as the successor to Westerhof and he won us our only Olympic gold till date and a second place finish at AFCON.

Conversely, we've hired top coaches who flopped with the Eagles.

Thijs libreght qualified Holland for the 1990 world cup but was poor for Nigeria.

Bertis Voght won the Euros with Germany but was a disaster for Nigeria.

Lars Lagerback took Sweden to the world cup but was poor with Nigeria.

Nothing is cast in stones in football.

Welcome Mr Chelle.

This guy and minfelix, I gbadun wetin una dey cook. Situation looks bleak. We don't need doomsday analysis. I'm not saying that Chelle is the best. All I'm saying is that given how dire our situation is, what can we do other than to be positive and hope for the best.

they were stupid to let him leave. Chelle is a good coach who I love his tactical approach to games especially his high pressing method

I am not a fortune teller but I foresee him doing well with the caliber of players we have. With the difficult task in hand he will definitely invite our most inform players base on merit.

The chance with the super eagles is a big one for him and with the team’s difficult stand in the World Cup qualifiers I think he has a lot of balls to accept this huge responsibility to rescue the team’s hopes of qualifying

Saw his Malian team couple of times at the last afcon and they were very impressive and unlucky to get knocked out by the eventual champs the Ivorians.

Him and the current Angolan coach were my favourites at the last afcon
Odogwu, I dig your hopeful disposition. Very comforting. I pray the man succeeds. We will be very happy if he does.

Personally, I think Eric Chelle's appointment is an unambitious one. Unfortunately, the NFF are cash strapped and we have to make do with whatever decision they make.

Eric Chelle is actually a coach I liked from his AFCON performance, played bright free-flowing football that entertained me. I think I made a comment about him when Mali got knocked out.

I also feel Samson Siasia is more deserving, since Amunike is now working on an interesting project at Heartland FC, I would want to see what becomes of it in the next 3-4 years.

I don't think Chelle is more of a tactician than Samson Siasia and Siasia would have easily been able to put a sound team together.

Either way, we have Eric Chelle as our coach and we need to throw our full weight behind him and hope he succeeds.

I pray he does well with the Super Eagles and have us playing breath-taking football.
Who else reads TheGoodJoe's analysis with more focus now like I do? The way I concentrate to absorb what you write now ehn. Mehn, thank God for preserving you. That's all I can say.

Qualifying for World Cup is not what someone will tag ambition. Building a World Class coherent team like our Atlanta 96 team that could face the best of the best in World football is ambition. You can't tag such a team to qualify for World Cup. They were squaring it with the best players in World football like Crespo, Claudio Lopez, Rivaldo, Ronaldo de Lima, Ortega, Roberto Carlos, Juninho, Zanetti etc.
Looking back from where I stand now u-23 is just a few notches higher than u-17. What made it special was the manner of our victory.
