Illusioneffect:I wouldn't say "better", but i liked that of "The Substance" more. The close up macro shots were so good, then the color schemes used was well contrasted to produce beautiful scenery, plus a very good saturation plus they matched all these with good audio engineering, there are these background eerie sounds that make the shots even more appealing as a good body horror flick that it is....see it in HDR with an audio device that produces good audio channels, then you'd then you might appreciate the insane work that went into it. Plus Dune Part Two cinematography felt like a repeat of what they did in Part One, and with a very monochromatic color scheme. 2 Likes |

"I like The Substance because acting" "I like The Substance because cinematography" "I like The Substance because directing and plot" "I like The Substance because shock value" Still waiting for a monicker to admit "I like The Substance because nudity" 4 Likes 1 Share

Ojagun:The Substance doesn't have nudity in the sense of sex. I can't think of anyone who would get a boner from a nude women literally tearing out of another person. Even Nosferatu had way more nudity than the Substance |

The Apprentice.........9/10 The first day I saw the trailer for this movie last year, I was moved and promised to never miss it. Somehow I lost updates on the movie but some days back it re-entered my radar. I was skeptical and wasn't sure why I wanted to see it in the first place since I couldn't remember what I saw in the trailer that got me hooked. But I took the dip for Sebastian Stan and the burning desire to find something less buzzy, not in the news like other mainstream films this season, and I'm really glad I did. Boy o boy, Sebastian Stan in 2024 is a revelation. I always knew he could act and liked him but man just outdone himself with this one. Top tier performance. For me, this is my performance of the year. Sebastian portrayed Donald J Trump with so much vigor, finesse and guile it felt like I was watching the real Donald Trump transported back to his younger years. I can see why President Trump tried to prevent this movie's release some months back. Sebastian gave a performance of the year he's so believable. Kudos to the director for the superb work and the writer for crafting an engrossing story. I never thought I'd enjoy this movie the way I did. And it's easily amongst my top 5 favourite films of the year. Sebastian really distinguished himself in this role. From naive young Trump, to the Killer instinct he matured into over the years. Top tier deconstruction of the man even though some events may be dramatically altered for artistic reasons — it was top tier and really well done. The mannerisms, the douchebag-y behaviour, dude gave everything. You're gonna fall in love with his ambition, his never-say-die astuteness and determination till you're going to start hating his turn to villainy and mountainous ego with a God Complex towards the end of the movie. Sebastian gave an all time performance in here. And I'm quite having a hard time thinking of anyone who could have portrayed Donald Trump this good. The makeup and hairstyling department has to be given big kudos for delivering on the looks and Trump's signature blonde hairstyle. Man seemed really obsessed with his hair and looks. Even till old age. Lol. Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump also did a superb job portraying Trump's model wife. She's bought me over already and she's my latest obsession henceforth. She was darn good in the role. I first saw her in the PR interviews and marketing for James Gunn's Creature Commandos and quickly grew fond of her.... her voice acting performance in the show was decent, but what I saw in this movie made me a fan. Will be watching out for more of her projects. Jeremy Strong; what can I say, dude just murdëred this role real good. Playing ruthless and vicious lawyer Roy Cohn who took a young and naive Donald Jr Trump under his wing to be his "Apprentice" — and moulded him into the vicious political stalwart he is today. Went from vicious, untouchable to a sidelined teacher, later to an old lepér who must be shunned. Class acting performance from him...of course I knew I wouldn't be disappointed when you got a key member of the SUCCESSION cast in tow. Gave a really good exposé as the man who played a significant role in shaping one of the most controversial personalities America has ever seen. The entire cast delivered a memorable performance in this project. All brought their A game. Sebastian and Jeremy deserve acting nominations for Best Actor and Supporting for their roles at least, if they can't win it themselves. Their mentor and protégé chemistry was a joy to watch. It's a walk through history and the younger years of Donald Trump and the people and events that shaped Donald's ideology over the years. A trippy journey through memory lane where Trump got his political views and campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" which he borrowed from Ronald Reagan's campaign mantra in the 80s. I can go on and on about many things I loved about this movie and there won't be enough space to fully encapsulate my yapping...... I'll just say it's an underrated movie that needs more buzz and closer viewing than many of the awards season films; but for obvious reasons I can see why critics' might totally ignore it. In some way it glorifies Trump's genius during his younger years in carving a mighty hotel empire and overseeing an economic comeback for the ailing New York City (even if handled in an egotistical manner). It's a biopic of some sorts of Donald Trump's earlier life— the man in the making. And it's a beautiful work. Has a documentary feel too with the old 80s style of camera colour pallete. Gives it a more artistic flair. Top top movie. Highly recommended, if you have a love for the finer things. 1 Like 1 Share

The teaser really got me intrigued....this solidified it. Although I'd have loved the trailer not spoiling the plot with too much info....now I know she's a robot. Anyways, I'm liking the career trajectory of Sophie Thatcher.....seems full with potential and looks like the next Anya Taylor-Joy to me. She was really good in Heretic. Can't wait. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr_kX0D3DNA?si=xUvsT_R8pJEqTsr1 |

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 9:26pm On Jan 09 |
phr0nesis: Walahi between the two of them I no know who worse pass. Paul W.S Anderson might be better because at least he has movies that's categorised as "so bad it's good" but Uwe Boll ehn.....I reserve my comment. 😂😭 Make people talk say they believe he purposely makes films bad so it flops and he gets a tax write-off tells you just how bad the guy is and his reputation. |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by phr0nesis(m): 9:52pm On Jan 09 |
abduleez1:Yea Anderson better pass Boll. Na because of their consistency I say them similar. Anderson is constantly on 30-40 percent rating, while Boll carry 3-4 percent ratings for head. Omo I no doubt say him de do am on purpose |
