The school is responsible for the teachers and their behavior, the government is responsible for the schools in the state, the tone must be set at the top......You think this pikin is the first and the last to be disciplined like that?

Whether you agree or not, a reform is needed, even after jailing her without these reforms, some schools would still allow this to happen.....So GTFO!

Not easy to teach children

Honestly, you're right, it's not easy to teach kids, but it costs nothing to be kind, especially to little kids... Yes they can frustrate you, but one must always take their fragile nature into consideration and not overreact, this is why early childhood education is different.

I couldn't even watch the entire video cos I'm very emotional when it comes to kids, but I hope fair justice is served both ways.

Good afternoon, my daddies, mothers, brothers, and sisters on Nairaland Forum.

My name is Babatunde. I'm 28 years old. I had a car accident three weeks ago in which my left leg got broken in two places (my tibia-fibula bone and my thigh bone). Please help me.

These are pictures of my leg this morning when we visited the man working on the leg.

Please help me. I need your support. My leg has collected the #60,000 left on me. I'm broke and still need funds for daily care of my broken leg.

Please help me. I'm soliciting your help because I have spent the #60,000 left on me on the leg. My parents have tried too. I need your help to continue my medication and daily care of my broken leg.

The man (bonesetter) working on my broken leg said it will take 6-8 months for the bones to join together very well. Which means I will spend 6-8 months lying in bed every day.

My people now carry me to do the private things I do on my own. Can't go to the bathroom on my own; my brother bathes me. I can't rush to the toilet whenever I'm caught short; I have to call my people on the phone to take me to the toilet. Please help me.

The man (bonesetter) working on my broken bones charged us the sum of #40,000; we've paid #30,000.

The nurse who stitched the wound on my leg and who will be giving me injections and prescribing drugs for me till my leg totally heals charged us #60,000; we've paid #40,000.

Every three days, we hire a car to take me to the bonesetter's house; we pay #2000 for this per day.

We have paid part of the treatment bill. Where I'm having an issue now is how to pay up the remaining treatment bill and how to get funds to pay for the transportation fare to the house of my bonesetter every three days. Please help me. I'm broke, and my family has really tried for me. Please, I need your help to take good care of my leg every day.

Please, my bank details are:

Bank: OPAY
Acct No: 913 531 0933
Acct Name: Babatunde Sikiru Yisa

May God's protection continue to be on you and your family. May you and your family never be victims of a motor vehicle accident. Amen

I live at NO 34, Araromi Street, Eleko Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

If you live close to me and want to visit me, that's my address, and my phone number is 0913 531 0933. Thank you. May God continue to bless you.

You're still on this beggi-beggi this new year? undecided

Does it mean a teacher can't scold a child again then we should be ready to raise nonentity in society, they should rather employ discipline teacher, I remember Mr Argungu in Wuse zone 3 secondary school he was a discipline teacher, he beat shege for my body until I became normal, Alhaji Argungu thank you very much for your disciplinary character then, it really shape many of us

The Real Issue:
1.The Teacher involved was wrong, especially when you know, the Pupils/ Students just returned from a New Year Holidays .
2.Considering the very Age of this boy,3yrs Old- this cannot be the best way of impacting knowledge, for afterall, there many ways of grooming Children, not by bitterness e.g my baby boy,o you have forgotten everything you were taught, see.take it home as assigned/ home work, etc.
3.the dangerous person in that School - is Not the Teacher but the Cleaner, and according to information - she did the Recording, because she wanted to take a pound of flesh from the Teacher,as they claimed that her Friend, who was a teacher was earlier Sacked and she thinks she needs to revenge!
She Cleaners, intentionally did what She did- without knowing the reparcussion/ gravity of the Offence and by her sending the Video Records to the Child Parent - who did not waste time to elongate the matter to everywhere - even shouting at Police Station ' this is how Nigeria is upside down!
-We should ask the Parent- how is Nigeria Upside down? Is it that they should Not Discipline in School?
-You Parent, instead of you to be diligence in finding the Truth, including going to the Principal of the School and confront her,you escalated everything and you think Cases are won through Emotions In Social Media?
-This is not about tribe but too much hostility in that School environment!
If it's true on the terrible roles of the Cleaner, she should carry her Cup!
-We NIGERIANS -should never judge any matters without establishing the Truth and get background checks!

Although i didn't watch the video. but according to what I'm hearing it shouldn't be a police case. the school management should have handled it.

Re: Police Arraign Stella Nwadigbo For Indecent Treatment Of Child In Lagos by delpee(f): 7:05pm On Jan 09
A well trained teacher knows that children don't learn at the same pace. Some are slow learners and one requires a lot of patience to see them through. Anyone who doesn't have deep love for kids and a passion for teaching shouldn't be in that profession. Sadly, our schools also don't usually have enough resources that playfully guide a child's learning process.

TRCN needs to do more in terms of teacher training.

Too much beating does damage to a child physically and psychologically. Those slaps were so hot! Hope others including parents learn from this.

While tribal maggots infest this thread and spew venom, let's take a realistic view of the situation:
1. Capital punishment in African school system has been the norm for too long, and needs to be changed.
2. Kindergarten and primary school teachers need to be properly trained and licensed.
3. The school itself that had tolerated and possibly encouraged this behavior must also be brought to book.
4. Government needs to review the licensing of these sub standard schools on a yearly basis.
5. Criminal prosecution of untrained teachers serves mostly a spectator needs, these teachers need to be barred from teaching and interacting with children.
6. Out of every bad teacher caught on tape, there 9 others doing the same or even worse to our children.
7. Bad teachers, criminals, and evil people abound in every tribe, race, religion, and group. Making this another tribal bashing thread doesn't help the kids abused by untrained teachers in unlicensed schools.

Nice to hear from an adult!

The trial should be handled in a professional manner so that it doesn't drag the whole teaching profession into the mud.

Some may even argue that she should be referred to the TRCN first before her trial since it was a case of alleged professional misconduct not an outright criminal case.

Is she a member of TRCN?
You mean to tell Assault, Battery, and child abuse are not criminal offences?

Law should be taught from primary to tertiary schools.

There's no point in jailing her, the key here should be redemption not only punishment. Suspend her license or revoke it, punish the school as well for not properly training their teachers and call on the government to reform how schools discipline students.......No be everything be MASH AM MASH AM!
I think the reason why she could be jailed is because there is already a law made that teachers will be jailed for beating a child. It is already in the constitution. If the beating is appropriate for the age of this boy, I would have sided with you on this, but this beating is the type that should have been reserved for our corrupt politicians. The slaps are too heavy abeg. My chest almost broke up watching it.

Some people don't know. Teachers should be careful and avoid assaulting pupils.

This may change approach towards teaching children in that school. The teachers may start giving the kids more homeworks so that their parents can do the teaching, especially for the kids who find it difficult to cope in class

While i condemn the woman action, i will also blame the system. The woman might not be in a joyous mood. Teachers, especially private schools are highly under valued in our society. The woman could have spent her entire salary and this would affect her psychological behaviour in the class. There could be other reasons too. The woman should have been disciplined by the school management and the video shouldn't have gone viral. A motivated and appreciated teacher will obviously deliver in a cheerful mood. School management, parents and society, this is your responsibility. Teachers are demigods.
